THANK YOU!!! I engaged my PTO first thing. However, the collar dropped down just as yours did. If you hadn't shown me the broom handle trick, I don't know what I'd have done. You have done your good deed for today.
Must be close to a 1959 841d I bet eh? I had the shaft bind on my wood chipper and it pushed the pto shaft in. Next time I started the tractor it leaked and leaked aaaaand leaked. Ordered up my parts. Thanks for the video budski
Mine happened today while topping a field. The snap ring behind the bearing was the same. I also found parts of another ring that was broke behind the bearing any idea what that could be. Super video thanks.
Same thing happened on our1974 Ford 2000 owned by our hunting club to mow fields. I believe a pto driveline was too long and jammed the pto output shaft in an inch or so into the transmission breaking the bearing retaining snap ring. It also caused the seal to leak badly. You can do substantial damage if you are not careful of the driveline length. We were lucky. Only replaced seal and snap ring.

Many thanks for making this video. Your "greasy broomstick" trick for retaining the thrust washer saved my ass. Beautiful.
Adapt and over come. Well done!
Slide hamer with a puller attached works best to pull bearings. I bought one a long time ago and it's paid for itself many times.
Simple tools and some 'doin it sense' great video!

Cant find the right seal for my ford 3000 pto shaft. Any suggestions?

Glad this helped! Was there only one snap ring you found whole? Then another in pieces behind it?
