Akira Yamaoka - Theme of Laura (extended full guitar solo mix)

- Put together, to make the guitar solo complete. There's no original "extended version", but some unused material, and trailers, which have that guitar part - sort of.
I know the quality from 3:34 is extremely shitty, but there was nothing more I could do: that part is from a trailer, which had awful sounds, and there's no other clean version of it. I don't own a studio to make it better, but I did my best. I simply wanted to make this song as long as it was meant to be.

Honestly its come to the point that I kinda like the voices and dialogue during the solo
Though it only has a minor role, the violin makes this piece what it is. Both haunting and saddening - - perfect for James Sunderland.
I get goosebumps where the violin kicks in. It's so. Pretty. And heartbreaking. It's wonderful.
The violin plays the Leit Motif of Silent Hill, that melody is present in various tracks of the OSTs from the games!
Someone should send this to Akira Yamoaka and ask If he really does have a clean version of this somewhere.

@@nicowarhier3635 100% he won't. Nobody is interested in extended 'anything' anymore really. Not many even know what this franchise even represent, let alone the soundtrack. And, lastly, Akira Yamaoka won't even bother to reply my messages for the past 9 years, not that I bothered or "harassed" him or anything. Its usually like this with these musicians e.g. I've sent all of my Jazz 2 remixes to Alexander Brandon. Guess how many replies I got...
the silent hill 2 soundtrack genuinely makes me feel so content and euphoric, and i don't know what about it that gives me so much happiness.
Best version ever. I'm sure Akira has the full tapes on a hard drive somewhere. Oh well.

From 5:13 to the end makes me totally teary eyed. I want to go back to Silent Hill.
Every time I hear the original Theme of Laura somewhere, I always have to come back here and listen to this 'complete' version instead. God, those epic Yamaoka solos and then the acoustic outro is just the cherry on top of it all 😩

yo lo sabia! sabia que había una versión extendida del tema original cuando vi los trailers del juego. una lastima que nunca haya salido una versión oficial, pero estoy muy feliz de que años después (casi 11 años) alguien se fijo en ese detalle y lo pueda escuchar ahora. cuanta nostalgia, para mi el mejor silent hill siempre será el 2 :)
I'm here after SH2 Remake has been officially confirmed. So pumped and hopefully we can have a crystal clear version of this extended mix now. And Akira Yamaoka san is returning for this Remake which makes me all the more excited.
yeah...too bad they didn't use this theme in the trailer....cause the games ost rly made it stand out compared to other horror titles....
@@shadowboy2818 I'd have liked to hear the full version of Theme of Laura in the trailer too, but you can briefly hear a riff of the theme about halfway through the trailer, so it is clear that Yamaoka hasn't forgotten about this masterpiece.
@@TheMastersForm yeah i did hear a creepy version of the riff too actually...But it didn't feel like what silent hill usually sounds...Sh2's ost doesn't usually try to be creepy or spooky...which is why I think its distinctive compared to other osts in horror games in general...

Damn dude, you did an excellent job stitching the sources together. 100% seamless, didn't even notice until the voices showed up and faded away.
Listening to this is like experiencing Silent Hill 2 again for the first time. It's like a part of it that we've never seen. Fantastic video!

Kind of reminds me of one extended version that was paired with a video of the game made years back (like not long after SH2 first came out). And while it would be cool to see the talking parts (and those monster noises and the scream) cleared out, it's not a bad fit for this. This is such a great song, and it stinks Akira never officially released the extended version, that added solo is just outstanding.

I knew about the one guitar solo, but the one at 34 was incredible.

Actually it looks like the rooms on both sides are a reflection of each other, so it symbolizes that they apart from each other but still it all comes back to James past in the room and why he's there.

As someone who grew up obsessively listening to those specific trailers before the game released, I just want to say that the trailer bits only enhanced the experience for me.
If you'd left in the "Mary...could you really be in this town?" at the end of that announcement trailer portion at the end, it'd have been cool, but I respect your decision not to.
