Just to let people know, if you are struggling with getting hay off your carpet the best thing to use is a rubber broom. It helps collect all the big or thick pieces that the vacuum or even the shop vac can't get up
I have been using a rubber broom for many years and i agree it is the best. I originally bought it for dog fur
@@carolmay9795 my family have used them for dog fur as well, especially on carpeted stairs. I have just always struggled with the hay clean up. I would spend so long on my hands and knees with a shop vac and just picking up hay with my hands. It was so frustrating that I didn't want to clean it up.

This is so wholesome in a world with influencers who want us to buy things we don’t need and make us feel bad about ourselves…..and war, famine,earthquakes and so on. Anyway..I don’t have piggies but seriously considering it. My neighbor is a 45 year old man who loves piggies and have 25. He has a whole room dedicated to them, two huge enclosures with much like the setting you have. All healthy and happy popcorning around 😂 I look after them when he is gone, wonderful animals ❤
Hey, just checking your metacam dose, double check with your vet if it definitely twice a day, meloxicam the drug usually lasts 24 hrs. Just want to make sure your little fella isn't getting too much. If your vet is saying twice then perfect, but no harm in double checking :)
My vet told me today that there are two strength levels so maybe you usually get the stronger one? My pig is on it twice a day is well 😊

Just deep cleaned my piggy's cage with the vinegar/water mix
Got the stuff from the pet store of course, after cleaning everything and putting their stuff back in, I felt ten times better. Watching your's and Sarah's videos have been such a big help! My first piggy was kinda dumped on me 4 months ago. At first I was like umm...WHAT THE HECK? WHAT DO I DO?? But now we have 2 boys, bonding was amazing and I got REALLY lucky.
I now help the pet store next to my work on helping check to make sure their males. I've given them tips I learned and they are using them, and sometimes I help clean the males.
Plus, us loving on them helps get them ready for homes.

The hay rack is great. I don’t put the top on it. You don’t need to cut the bars. They can get the hay out. It is so much neater than others that I have tried. My doctor told me that I showed signs of arthritis when I was 16. It is just the way things go. Both of my grandmothers had Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have a lot of sympathy for animals who have it because they can’t tell us. Sending hugs to Jojo. I put toys in my girls cage. They don’t really play with anything.
I am a human with arthritis who also take Meloxicam twice a day (along with other meds)! Meloxicam is a great pain reliever for arthritis and I am sure JoJo will feel much better on it. So glad sweet JoJo has a great pig dad and vet who do their best to give him the best care they can. Hope JoJo feels better soon!
Hey Austin I love your videos( though they are a bit long) you have taught me so much about caring for my little guy Gizmo( I only have one because I adopted him and he is always bullied by other piggies I play with him multiple times a day though.). I just wanted to let anyone know that I have an Etsy shop for small pets called SmallPetEmporium(I actually sell an amazing homemade forage. My piggy goes CRAZY for it!
With those hay houses, I cut off the bottom and use zip ties to hold it together. I hang the floor I took off on the side of the cage for the pigs to chew on if they feel like it.
Has anyone tried corncob bedding? We use it for rodents and it works very well. If they chew it, it won’t hurt them and it’s big enough to off gas moisture quite a bit and stay a bit drier. I think you’re not thinking the hay rack through. It’s better for the pigs to have to work for the hay a bit as it adds enrichment to their day. Hay just open feeding is no real lasting enrichment, hay they need to work a bit for is a great way to enrich much longer.

I just had to separate my skinny pigs a few days ago and it’s so sad because their two almost three years old and they had a major fight and my skinny pigs have been together since they were just little. My Skinny pig Skittles just popcorned for the first time is over a year which is exiting. :>

I assume you already use them, but toilet paper rolls are amazing enrichment, I've figured out a way to fold them so my boys can't unfold it if I do it right (otherwise I fold the ends in on each other and watch as my boys (mainly Tommy) fling them around to get pellets out

I love your channel @ThePigRoom, however, the one thing that no ever shows on their channel is what to do during severe weather. I mean, I understand that my life is probably more important during a tornado warning or flood warning, but no one ever talks about things like that. Can you make a video about that?
I find it interesting how you keep your pigs. Where I live they live in hatches outside, only coming inside overnight during winter. There house part is lined with newspaper, animal bedding and stuffed with lose hay. They nest in the hay and eat what is around them. They have long run that is partly covered. It usally sits on grass. Maintain by moving Cage daily, change house part weekly, srub monthly. Feeding is grass sitting on, pellets, kitchen scraps (carrot, luttce).

15:07 Im sorry but to give my pig meloxicam or anything through a syringe they would rather die than take the syringe. I give them the burrito blanket treatment but it still takes forever bc they manage to find a way out.

FYI I see in videos from time to time that you throw out food products because they are "expired". I want to let you know that that is NOT an expiration date. It is an arbitrary date placed on the package by the manufacturer and is actually a "Best by" date. They put those dates on there so you will throw it out and buy new product. The same goes for canned and packaged human food. The only human food that requires an expiration date is baby food. Obviously this rule does not apply to fresh produce and meats etc

reddit has a whole sub just for guinea pigs, tons of people use it and they have a million answers for any questions you could ever have. That place really helped me find tons of useful tips on caring for my piggies/making it easier.

Could you please do a common health issue with piggies, and how to avoid it.
I'm thinking about rescuing 2 males, but I have never had pigs, I have had: mice, mini hamsters, rabbits, deggu, chinchillas, fish, and dogs and cats.
I'm not sure if I should rescue them (they are given away from two different places on our type of craigslist) I don't really know if I have enough information to make a good decision about rescuing them.
(I read up about introducing them to avoid a fight, since they are males, but I don't have any females, so there shouldn't be any smell to trigger a fight, and anyway, I can keep them separated so they can see but not bite each other)
I will look through your videos, but do you have a link to a video where I can get the most information I need?
I would love to be like a critter rescue, but I ain't sure how to handle it. 😅

Your videos are nice but can I ask why the male pigs live alone? Guinea pigs need always a partner or better a group of 3 pigs.
He did multible bondings they didn‘t work out. He tries really hard to get them a partner actually. (You can look up nearly every bonding on his channel)

They don't bond well with other pigs, hes tried many different pigs to try bond and they don't work out. Some used to be bonded then fell out with their cage mates :(
