I appreciate how you still show us cage cleaning even if you miss a spot clean or two. Obviously we want to do everything for our pigs but sometimes it’s not possible so this helps reduce that’s shame. I think you said something before about being realistic pet owners
Of course! I will continue to be totally transparent with my audience and let them know it is okay to miss and spot clean or two. In the long run, it will not hurt your piggies and hey, the piggies seem to love the mess haha
Totally! We’re human and all have lives. I feel the same way cuz I know I don’t get to clean my piggies cages every day either. That’s just not realistic.
True. He is an amazing RUclipsr. More like a piggy influencer 😊 ❤
@@wellhill4017 my hubby calls him the piggy messiah 😂
For sure!! The other day I felt so bad cuz I got called into work early. I hadn't even finished my coffee and I didnt have time to clean any of my habitats. I felt sooo bad.
I like to remind myself.
"I chose them, they didn't choose me",
"They don't choose their lives, I do",
"I can just get another pet, they can't get another owner"
"Their only there a small amount of my life. I'm there their whole life"
I love this
Wow really puts it into perspective
I love how Winston just roams around the cage like a security guard 😂
Making the rounds to secure the territory
True 😂
Thank you for showing the reality of keeping Guinea pigs. The husbandry for them is a lot of work that I don’t think alot of people realize.
It definitely is a lot of work! I hope by continuing to make content around proper care for guinea pigs, more and more people realize what they actually need.
I am 12 and have 6, my parents wanted no part in it. I learned everything from you, autumn, allysa and Sara, thank you so much!
If your parents want no part in it then I worry who is paying the vet bills if/when your pigs get sick..
Me too! I have 2 but I have gotten better care from Austin, Alyssa, Autumn and Sarah!
How will you be able to pay thousands of dollars when they need to see a vet in case anything unexpected happens?
..I’m not trying to hate on you or shame you in any way, i’m just wondering what will happen to them if you can’t pay for that..
@@ThatAnimalHouse my parents will do that but they didnt want to have to do anything else for them
Like clean, tidy, laundry, by food ex.
Omg, who else thinks it’s so satisfying watching him folded all the mats 😂❤😂
HOLY THAT WAS DIRTYYY, tysm for cleaning that we rlly appreciate it!!
I don’t have a Guinea pig ; I’m actually a bird owner, but I genuinely love your content so much. It’s extremely clear that you love these babies. When you started talking about how we are our pets everything, I nearly bursted into tears as I’m constantly saying this about my birds. They solely rely on us to make sure they’re living the best life they can possibly live. The care and passion you show throughout your videos will forever keep me coming around. Thanks for your awesome content :)
Nice post Lex.
Ok I NEED a Winston sticker. He is my spirit animal.
Coming soon!
Hate the starter pet thing. My daughter's first pets were garden snails. Made her do research so she knew how to keep them, feed them and take care of them. She had those snails for a few years before she slowly released them into the garden. She loved Bob, Jinx and Monsoon. She named them after drag queens because snails are hermaphrodites. Lol. Fast forward a few years and Now she's got a cat. She wanted something smaller but realized that there was not enough space in her room to be fair to the animal. Cat has full run of my house lol but we love watching these adorable creatures here. It was actually your channel that showed her she didn't have the space.
I would be in my element helping you! 😍. I have 3 and love cleaning their home and rearranging their 'wardrobe' 😂. I have guinea dad fleeces and the liners underneath are actually kylies that old people use i had given me. (still wrapped! 🤭) My piggies come in for a wonder half way through floor time to inspect my cleaning 😂. How satisfying to see our Furry Friends pop-corning/settling down to eat and sleep in their newly cleaned house 🥰😘
A job well done 👏👏👏
Omg the little noises of their feet hitting the chloroplast is so funny
Best video ever. You take such loving care of your pigs. You're a great dad, that's for sure.
I really wish I was able to have a couple of pigs! I just know that it’s not possible for me to take care of cleaning and them with my disabilities. For now I’ll just have to keep watching videos and helping out with them at my local shelter!
Winston is such a character! 😁 I too have an Abyssinian named Winston. He is also crazy and loves free roaming.
Winston is sooooo funny 😂🥰❤ I love your cage cleanings AND your piggies!!! You take so good care of them! Much love💖
i have 18 pigs myself. i do my girls, (herd of 7), every other day since they are clean as well with a pair and a trio of boys. my other three pairs of boys get cleaned everyday. i do full cleans 1-2 a week! i admire your channel and wish to see it grow! thanks for making this content. i love watching the cage cleanings, so satisfying!
I agree with you. No animals should be considered a easy or starter pets. I recently spent over $700 on a Peachface Lovebird. He was having seizures. He had an x-ray and full blood test, feacal test and had take home pain, anti-seizure and sedation drugs. I've also had to euthanise a newborn guinea pig that was deteriorating fast. That cost me a little over $200, this also included a consultantion.
It’a funny, all animals I have ever owned, no matter the kind, have always love to get their home cleaned 😍
I highly recommend the large black trash bags! Almost yard work level size. Works great for big cage clean days.
Yes, I agree they are not for kids. had taken in two different pigs at once. They came in cages from the pet store. And my daughter adopted one pig from shelter. And we thought at time buying store cages are fine. After watching a few different channels we see it's not enough room. And yes very expensive to keep. We still have them in cages though, we can't seem to save for different cage set up. We're always stuck getting what they need and not want. But they are worth it. We love our piggies!
Hi Austin! Luv this video! I have an idea for a series of videos… how about a video dedicated to each of your wonderful piggies…. So a series of 16 videos! Maybe one a month! You can tell us how you met them and how they evolved into their personality while showing you interacting with them the whole time. Just one on one. I luv all you do but I think my favorite is always mushing and kissing and interacting with them. I could go on and on with ideas for this but I don’t want to overwhelm you! Lol 😂. Thank you for all you do! Frances
This is such a good idea!!
Love your videos Austin. You are enjoying the guineas as are we . It's beneficial to see different ways of cleaning, various liners and other items available for guinea pigs to help enjoy the hobby.
I've got 4 piggies. 2 boys and 2 girls. Each pair is in a 3x2 enclosure. The boars' pen has a divider lengthwise. I've been creating more space in the piggie designated room so that I can increase the size of boars habitat.
I like the information Austin mentions about caring for guinea pigs in general, whether a person owns 2 or 200. There is probably more cleaning involved than non guinea pig owners would think. This is true whether habitats are cleaned every few days or more or less often. Through trial and error over years, I've kept some ways of doing cleaning and changed other ways. I've used various forms of substrate ( the many products available to use on the floor of the habitats) and I've learned that some shapes of habitats work better for accessing the piggies and for cleaning as well. A owner who enjoys being creative, organized and is open to experimenting with how to make this hobby fun and practically run, will be a good fit for raising guinea pigs. 😊😊
I recently stumbled randomly onto your channel. Have to say I’m hooked. I never realized how much work having Guinea pigs is. I also never knew piggies lived in herds. That’s so cute. Mostly animals can’t be cohabbed so it is nice to see these animals living the most amazing life and how it’s very evident how much you adore your pigs.
Thank you for your videos. They are truly wonderful and if I ever find fleece with Guinea pigs on it it’s coming your way
I'm curious what animals you're referring to that can't be cohabbed, besides reptiles and some rodents, there's not really that many.
I REMEMBER WATCHING YOU SINCE YOU HAD 1K your channel grew a lot :)
CRAZY, right!?
They are all so cute and adorable together I have two Guinea pigs flash and storm
Great video. I will miss seeing Whinston roaming around while you clean though.
Instead of hay you could also give them some straw to burrow. We get some pretty inexpensively from our local farmer and they really like the different texture. They do nibble on it a bit but they love to ruffle around in it. Of course have hay in hay bags etc but it gets wasted a lot less
the only thing with straw is you have to be vigilant for "hay" pokes as its much stiffer than hay
@@alg94 the straw we have here is really soft, softer than my hay so it depends
I hope Vision heals really quick, and I hope that Winston is ok.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one with piles of stuff everywhere
So glad you were able to get it posted!! I’m so excited to watch this video ❤️❤️
Me too!!
Just recently got two piggies as a gift from my uncle for me and my kids. Had them a little over and month and been watching your videos and doing general research, since I've never owned a piggie in the past, even though I always kinda wanted a couple. Still currently trying to bond with them and in name only are they the kids pets 🤣 I do all their care and purchasing of their supplies, still looking to get good fleece liners for a second hand C&C cage I just got. Honestly had them in a PackNPlay till I got the cage, they definitely come out and run around, popcorn, and make all kinds of sounds more since getting them in it.❤
I love watching your videos. Thank you for the amazing care that you provide for these piggies and your audience. You are AMAZING! 💛
You are awesome... I think you are an Absolutely amazing piggie-dad ❤
You should do a small kitchen island in the middle of the room for storage and counter top space for other things
I just got some of those gray liners for my bunny's pen! They seem to work well and wash great :) Love your content, your piggies are adorable and your care is amazing!
Where did you get them from? I want to get some!
@@steelisemin7399 amazon! Just type in pet cage liners and they usually come up :)
I hope all went well with the boys neutering 🐹💙
I know you mentioned custom litter boxes soon. For the large herd cages I'd get a piece of chloroplast and make them a kitchen area at least 3×3 or 3×4. With kiln dried pine. I bet that would make your life a lot easier.
That's exactly what I am going to do! One massive litterbox to fit 6 chunky pigs :)
@@ThePigRoom love it!!!! Can't wait to see!!
I love your vids and respect how well you treat them
Thank you!
Just love your channel. You are so sweet and loving to your babies. It really shows with how calm and relaxed they are, strolling around the room or lying about like they're sun baking . Well done, what a mammoth effort deep cleaning all of those cages and the room for 3 days...
Beautiful job. ❤️💐🌟🐹
Take care 💗
I love watching these type of videos!
We love cleaning tour 😍 Piggy kisses from France!
❤️❤️❤️ Don’t you get a bit nervous when you vacuum were the pigs are running around? You know them best of course, but I remember when I had ferrets I was always told to be super careful vacuuming around small animals.
I am always cautious when vacuuming around them. They are for the most part on the opposite of the cage when I am vacuuming inside of their cage with the exception of Winston lol
When I was a little girl I had a pet guinea pig. He hung out in the bottom of my closet where he had a house, and a litter pan he used. He had the run of my room.
They are so cute and sweet and make such wonderful pets. I'm sad I can no longer have any because I developed a horrible allergy to them.
While doing my house cleaning I would put on Queen and crank it up.
i am very close to be getting a guinea pig and from my research of watching you, Alyssa and Sarah i have gained so much knowledge and when i get him i will probably watch you when i am cleaning
I’m watching this to motivate to clean my ferret room 🙃
The hay could also be used for compost or donated for someone to use as composting in your community
Yay cleaning! Have you ever thought of composting your used hay? Piggy’s waste is great for compost (you can just dump it in a pile outside)
That’s what I do!! I think he said that he doesn’t have a big enough garden but he could give it too someone who does have a big garden!
I have two Guinea pigs and I love them so much and there names are Vanilla and Brownie😊
I have rabbits. 9 actually. I’m 12 years old. This goes with rabbits too actually. I don’t plan to neuter or spade any of mine. They all have friends but I have an agressive one. She is alone in the cage but she seems to like it. She stays in her little box 😊 she’s so cute 🥰
With your escape artist you could try using jewelry clasps like for necklaces instead of binder clips. I have to use those to keep my cat out of things lol. You can buy big ones not just the little ones
Just here catching up on videos I’ve missed 🤗 Love your content Austin!
I just love that sound of guinea pigs walking , it's so cute 😍 13.45 approx in video. Such tiny feat 😍
My Guinea pig love the Flower Power from Small Pet Select -Oreo and Smokey
What is in the spray bottle that you use to clean the coroplast? Mine gets so dirty and I don't know how to keep it clean
Use vinegar and water solution 😊 cleans well and safe for pets!
Great video love cage clean 🧼 lol
Thank you!
You might want to look into the cabinets that you can stack as high or as short as you want. You can see through the cabinets. They are very cheap as far as prices go. They are on Temu.
So true about exotic pets. I'm a bun mom, and same with rabbits. There are so much to know about their health, their well being...
Such nice videos!
its so amazing how you take care of pigs so well! i love how healthy they look!
I put all their pee and poo hay bits and pieces in my garden... My flowers and other plants thrive and bloom so much more because of the free fertilizer lol
Awesome video❤
Thank you Stephanie!
aw im sorry to hear winston's neuter couldn't happen. i thought he would have been the one to benefit the most from it and being put with girls. hopefully you'll be able to find him a friend at some point. maybe once he's gotten a bit older and has calmed down more he might be less extra with other boys
Boy that is a lot of work!! But you get the job done ✅ right!!
I had a guinea pig when i was younger and didnt know what i know now and did not have guardian support...and i wish i knew then what i know now so i could have given my long haired guinea pig Buddy the life he had deserved.
❤love this!❤ and also try and use some large puppy pads for the absorbent layer!!
Love this
Have you thought of using Chaff on bottom of litter trays or cages, ask your hay farm supplier. Chaff basically chopped up hay n comes from a variety of products, Oaten, Lucerne, Wheaten, Rice hay. Benefit of these products maybe cheaper then wood chips, second it's another food source. Third, Oaten which I use instead of "liners or chips" is absorbent, so maybe you or your viewers can give it a go.
Any tips for Piggies that have decided not to be bonded anymore?
They have separate paddocks that are just about 3ftx3ft, would like Them to have more space but it's what I can give fore right now, but the paddocks are side-by-side since i know they are still herd animals. Should there be a barrier between them? They do sometimes chew the cage and grumble at eachother, so I didn't know if them being that close still was stressing them out?
An extra thanks for all your videos! It has helped me out tremendously in learning + Adjusting to having some Piggies of my own!
and I'm sure my Little Men would thank you too!
lol as someone who often compares their pig herd to a herd of horses i love that you call cages paddocks
So sorry to hear about the split between your piggies'. I have my fair round of dealing with bonds breaking so I know your pain. As long as they are side by side one another and can still see each other and sniff each other, but not gain physical access to one another, they will be just fine! I know my one pig Jojo is so happy having his own cage and a neighbor who can't get in LOL
The hardest pet I've ever owned are fish 🐟🐠 your basically a water expert by the end of it. No joke 🥹 very very expensive to.
I SWEAR I saw another pig peeking from behind the laundry basket around 4:40 😂
Do you compost your Guinea pig refuse after cleaning their spaces out? This would make great garden compost.
I would recommend to get rid of the carpet lining on your pig room floor, wood would so much easier to clean for you !
It's been a week since I've clean the cage and oh my God
Don't worry I just did they are happy again
Finallly
Austin, why do you not give your piggies cherry tomato's. full of vit c and my pigs that I had years ago it was their favorite thing ever. Also strawberries and even slices of oranges.
Are you sure you don't have a reaction to the hey? I get rashes and bumps sometimes when I'm getting hey. I work d at TSC and I'd help load hey and I'd end up red and itchy within an hr
i remember back ago you mentioned your nw vaccum, but are there any particularly nice hand vaccums you reccoend?
Do you make your own cleaning spray and if so what do you put in the cleaning spray?
What shock vacuum do you have ? I be been interested in purchasing one but not sure which are the best brands ! ✨❤️
It's the 70L from Home Depot! I love it
Have you thought about when Winston is running around, placing pee pads to protect the open areas of the room?
I have a piggy (I’m saving up for another) but do you have any recommendations? Ur my favorite RUclipsr and such an inspiration to me!
What grids do you use I want to get these for my two piggies!!
What laundry detergent would you suggest to wash the piggies laundry with? My fleece liners have white calcified spots on them and I can’t get them fully clean. Any suggestions to help with that?
Free & Clear detergent, a couple squirts of dawn dish soap and two cups of white distilled vinegar always does the trick 💪🏻
@@ThePigRoom Thank you! I will have to give that a try
Do you think eventually you will bond them all together? And turn the room into a big space for them?
that would be SO cool!!
I love your videos I had a guinea pig way back when I was 15 his name was Taz he lived for 6 years cuz I took good care of him miss him so much but I'm going to get a new one soon I got to get new cages and stuff for him or her what's the best names for guinea pigs
and also how do u keep the fleece staying
Hey, what about putting linoleum flooring down? maybe just over your carpet that way no leaks go onto the carpet🙂
hi there austin ! the part where you said you may be sensitive or allergic to the pigs pee, i think i may be allergic to my pigs. i will never get rid of them though. however, it’s only with my male for some reason. whenever i hold my male pig, i start to get very itchy, red and spots. sometimes I start sneezing and when i hold him up against my chest, my lips start to swell
I rushed here when I saw u posted again
Yay I'm early
You do more cleaning than any man I've ever known. Lol
In case a parent stumble by looking for a child appropriate pet and wonder what else could work if not guinea pig I can recommend looking into crested geckos. Unlike leopard geckos they don't *need* to eat bugs unless they are babies and otherwise eat a powder you mix with water. Their tank is more about height than width so it doesn't take much space, they are pretty fragile so it would require a responsible gentle child but you feed an adult about every other day and mist the vivarium about twice a day and if you want to really have easy upkeep you can make it bioactive where little cleaner bugs eat the feces so it more or less care for itself. They also don't require a bunch of expensive heat lamps and like room temp. Very easy to maintain.
Can u tell us in a next video on what ur pigges eat
I have 3 boars that live together. they are currently in an l shape cage one side is 5 by 2 the other is 4 by 2. is this big enough? i am moving homes with a bigger room so would you recommend a bigger cage for them?
where is the elephant liner from?
How wide are the grids? My 2boys have a 8by3 but it looks bigger than yours but by the grids it's not and I'm so confused 😅. Love ur vids 💜💙💜💙💜🖤
Grids come in 12" and 14". C&C cages are usually considered standard sizes with 14" grids because that's what size grids were when they became popular. Now 12" grids are common too.
I am 11 years old I’ll be 12 in a week and I think you’re right about the Guinea pigs age thing I have 5 Guinea pigs Mae, Ashe, Stella, Jayde, and Gus and my dad helps me with them and they are very healthy.
When is the pig room website opening? Are you shipping international?
SOON!!!
What material is on the bottom of the cages?
What do you use to close your pig I do not know what to use please can you like my know 🙂
