Saw this movie I when I was 7 years old. It was released the same day as my birthday 🎂
My parents were BIG jazz fans and like SDJ as well. One of the first times I saw people of colour in positive roles. . .

According to the Trivia Notes on IMDB, the real trumpet playing was done by Nat Adderley. Sammy did a great job selling it though!

Maybe but he did play drums, piano and other instruments extremely well. Those are live on RUclips.
