Ha. Not quite the same, but anyway= Farley Mowat, a Canadian author, had two owls as a boy. They lived in the house with him and his parents. His mother opined "You've never baked a chocolate cake until you've done it with an owl on each shoulder!"
Awwww I love brown tabbies. They are so cute. They say a cats coat color has nothing to do with its personality or traits. I don’t believe that because brown tabbies definitely seem to all have similar personalities. They are funny and playful
So do the orange cats...all have similar personality traits!! I've had black cats. Tabby cats. Siamese-cross cats..calico cats.but it's the orange cats I've had that have been extra special. When I came home from 3 day vacation the 3 orange boys love bombed me! The one put his front legs around n y neck and hugged me for the longest time. I've never had a cat ever do that before. His orange mom is just as soecial.
The biggest issue I see when people pick up animals is that they don’t cradle their feet, or give them your arm/hand to stand. This is one of the main reasons they feel uncomfortable, getting picked up and held by your belly or ribs is uncomfortable. If you let them stand on your arm then they feel like they have a better chance to get away if need be and most times are more inclined to stay. My grumpy diva taught me this, even tho she doesn’t like being held to begin with she doesn’t fight me when I want to hold her for a minute. Know when they’ve had enough as well and don’t force them to stay when they want to go. This leads to not ever letting you pick them up.
That's usually an issue with children picking up animals, they often don't have the strength or the proper instruction or discipline and just pick a cat, small dog, or rabbit up like a doll and let it dangle by their shoulders (under where the collar bone would be on a human), which is the equivalent of putting them in a "Full Nelson" or even a "Crucifix" , which can be extremely uncomfortable to even fatal.
That's right, you should use one hand to let your cat stand with its back feet, then the other hand under the belly, let the cat keep most of its weight on its feet, this way your cat will be able to keep balance and feel safe.
A vet-tech friend of mine gave me this advice for picking up a cat. Put 1 hand under the chest & the other forearm between the cats back legs with your hand on their belly. The cat had old healed fractures in her pelvis. The vet-tech thought that my cat might be in physical pain when being picked up. Just presenting an alternative method. The more options you have, the more likely you are to find something that works.
Instuction unclear. I skipped step 1 and now theres a black shadow figure demon haunting me every night and calling my name while mimicking my dead wife noise.
i think to make it stop, you have to tuck it under your bed and sing sweet, soft lullabies to it. not a licensed professional but it has worked for me! good luck
I swear some of these cats with unique patterns look like indentical. Ik it’s a certain type but just so interesting to see their similarities and differences on the markings on their fur. Love those lines coming from the lines. I say this because I have this type of cat in front of me rn as I type this lol
I got a cat almost three months ago. He was a scared fluffy buddy who was unfortunately miscarried by his last family and has a bunch of health issues, like anemia and leukemia. We built his trust over the first weeks and he was giving in so fast. And just a month or so ago he's fully given in and part of the family. He's really strange in the sense that he's really affectionate with us, comes to greet us at the door when we come home, and comes to us when we call his name. We love him so much and for what he does I'm sure he loves us with all his heart.
@@midesti I never had a cat and thought different of this when we got him. But I'm glad I was mistaken. He's very lovely and always greets me when I come near him.
I'm glad you treat your tomcat well enough that he greets you at the door. He is now old enough to be neutered/fixed. This is important to calm him & prevent him from spraying his scent in the house. Also, a sexually active tom could run outside to find females to mate with. I hope you are committed to caring for him for life or getting him to a shelter if your circumstances change. A house cat can live for 20 years.
My newest fur-baby did that to me from behind. She's definitely the most energetic cat that I have and I have 5. I have excited wild kitties but she's on another level. She's going on four now so she's behaving with age. Lol! 😂
For an older cat, you make sure you support and lift their back legs and front legs at the same time. Always support the cat and lift slowly not fast, treat your cat like a older person that needs help. Kindness and respect goes along way.

I had a cat who decided that she would make eye contact, scrunch the front of her body down & then jump from the floor into my arms. She always made sure that I was looking at her before jumping. @@lisag-mh5rc Yeah, mine did that and also would do this thing where she'd get a crazy look in her eyes and start acting like she was going to pounce while concentrating on my shoulder. This meant, "Take me to the window so we can look at birds together." Then I would point at my shoulder and say, "Ok, let's go!” She would then jump and run up my body to sit on my shoulder.
My cat owned me many years ago, he still owns me even from the cat heaven, I got so many healthy habits from him, very heart-warming memory and incredible experience.
Ever since i started carrying my cat on my shoulder (bc she is big and heavy now) she absolutely adores being picked up and i only need to reach down to her side and she stiffens up enough so that i can even pick her up with one hand if i have to (if she didn't want me to pick her up she would either run away or slip out of my hands when i grab her). I pick up my cats all the time to give them hugs and kisses, or to move them where it's convenient, or when necessary to give them medical care. After awhile they get used to it and know what to expect, it will only be problematic if you haven't established that understanding and comfort over time.

Awwww I love brown tabbies. They are so cute. They say a cats coat color has nothing to do with its personality or traits. I don’t believe that because brown tabbies definitely seem to all have similar personalities. They are funny and playful
...well then, watch out for calicos, 'specially mine!
I have a tortie. The tortitude is real
My brown tabby does exactly this😂
So do the orange cats...all have similar personality traits!!
@@lisag-mh5rc I generally pick up cats and put them over my shoulder with one of my arms under their rear feet. It usually works out quite well.

That isn't strange at all. Cats are a lot more loyal and affectionate that people give them credit for. Sounds like you will give him a good life.

Every kittens are tender and very lovable creatures, they have very sweet and gentle feelings, when people treat kindy to them😊
For an older cat, you make sure you support and lift their back legs and front legs at the same time.

I have a ragdoll whenever I try to pick her up she goes limp like a slinky ❤😂
@@armaan1560 That's why they're called ragdolls. My odd-eyed white started acting like a ragdoll out of nowhere when he was about ten. All of a sudden he went limp every time I lifted him up and I could tell he loved it.
And when putting them back down on the floor gently make sure all their feet are on the floor. Don’t just lower then to knee level and let them drop like you did when they were 5. My cat is 12.5 now and about a year and a half ago I just lowered her to about knee level and let her drop but this time she landed on the carpet and fell over 🥴. Consent isn't only a human thing. Animals have boundaries as well.
My cat loved to be picked up and cradled like a baby. I could put my arms out and she would stand up and stretch upwards as if to say, "Pick me up, daddy."
I had a cat who decided that she would make eye contact, scrunch the front of her body down & then jump from the floor into my arms. She always made sure that I was looking at her before jumping. As she grew older, I started bending forward to reduce my height. By the time she was 13, she'd scooch her front down & I'd just pick her up. I miss her. I cherish the memories of all my cats. Each cat is unique.
@@lisag-mh5rc Yeah, mine did that and also would do this thing where she'd get a crazy look in her eyes and start acting like she was going to pounce while concentrating on my shoulder. 100% correct, thank you for sharing this accurate information 🙏🏾
I pick up my cats all the time to give them hugs and kisses, or to move them where it's convenient, or when necessary to give them medical care. After awhile they get used to it and know what to expect, it will only be problematic if you haven't established that understanding and comfort over time.
Absolutely there has to be rules....
If I want to do something that my cat enjoys, I will call her. She comes running(& meowing) If I want to do something that she doesn't like. I go get her. She figures that if I pick her up, she's not going to agree with whatever comes next.(meds, nail trims, the vet...)
