Coil / Heir Apparent from the same album - should be done back to back. You will not regret it.
Absolutely! Heir apparent is probably the heaviest Opeth song.
Hard to believe that, chronologically by song and album, this was the last time Mikael Åkerfeldt ever growled/screamed. Bittersweet. 😔
I'm looking to and hoping for Mikael's voice to hit more tonality like moments at 5:13 - 5:18. In a previous interview, he quoted that type of singing tone is "old man rock" and I think he can very much succeed with that tone.
U forgot watershed bonus track
THE WAY WE’RE SO BACK WITH GROWLS NOW!!!!
This didn't age well lol
Opeth music is a jewel. Their music is progressing more with each album and every album is different. Fell in love with them when I heard "Damnation" album. Highly recommend.
9:54 hahahah love how your face changed from lovely one to an scared one
This song is about death and loss and the effects that has on the surviving loved ones. Making the journey the song takes you on make a lot of sense as grief is not a linear process.
This and "When" are tied for my favorite Opeth tracks. This is just that good.
"When" is so underrated
When is the first track I heard from them. And it ended up being my fav one, from my fav album of theirs)
Yo thanks for doing more Opeth. Their tracks "Coil" and "Heir Apparent" from the same album as "Hessian Peel" are absolutely MIND BLOWING. Please listen to them together when you get the chance. You can't go wrong with Opeth.
Undoubtably one of Opeth's finest songs - has so many different tangents to this such as the woodwind, violins then the savage heaviness. Love it
Opeth is symphonic, like the works of the great classical masters: peaks and valleys, strong and soft. Love this band.
Coil/Heir Apparent for the best album opener. Or Masters Apprentice. ALL are a must!
That little pixel fills me with both sadness and rage every single time I think my monitor is fucked.
Opeth is the band that gives me the most intense visuals. This tune always reminds me of some haunted house. The first part of the tune is sort of mysterious but still feeling "safe". During the piano interlude, we are now going upstairs to a dark, scary floor. Then the beast appears!
The transition hits like a freight train and I love it
Good stuff right there, complex music hell yes.
Watershed is one of those albums that you will wear out you listen to it so much. ❤
I am so so SO happy that you picked Hessian Peel. Thank you for not only covering one of my favorite Opeth tracks but also a track that no one else reacting to Opeth has touched. Everyone does Harlequin Forest and Ghost of Perdition. But this was something truly special and unique in the world of reaction videos.
Thank you.
Watershed is such an amazing album... and Opeth is such an amazing band... One of my top 3 beside ISIS (I recommend "Dulcinea" for you to try this band) and the mighty MASTODON (should I dare to recommend you once again to put your ears on the song "Jaguar God" ?). 😛
So much love the surprise on your face when you react to an Opeth song.
Keep going, dude. It's pure fun to watch your channel. Peace !
Gonna have to check them out my friend thanks for the recommendations and really appreciate the comment glad you're enjoying the reactions and thank you for watching also!! 🙏
Been waiting for someone to react to this! Thank you!
When a Opeth's opera finishes I always think 'these emotions last too few'...
You’re spoiling us with such amazing reactions, man! 🌀🌀🌀👍👍👍
really appreciate the comment man glad you're enjoying the reactions and thank you for watching!!
Opeth is one of the best metal band all categories. They do so much variaty. You have no clue after even 20 songs 😂😂. I love them so much ❤❤❤
I love how Opeth utilizes lots of beautiful whole notes with the keyboards in the background. that's what you hear a lot of times, a lot of people that do reactions to Opeth don't realize how much keyboard they use for that full sound.. basically what you hear on their album is what you hear live they don't use tricks they don't use a bunch of doubling
Opeth’s imo has the best discography I’ve ever seen.
You should react to the entirety of the album Blackwater Park.
Their run from Orchid up to Watershed was pretty flawless. Since Heritage I haven’t really been all into their albums as a whole like I was with the earlier records. Still, incredibly robust discog.
@@dutchmastah07 I really recommend trying again with Heritage. It's a very underrated album TBH.
@@MageGills I’ve listened to it multiple times, especially when it came out. I was trying to make myself like their new direction, and its good here and there but overall doesn’t hold up to the older albums imo.
@@MageGillsI'm a big fan of Pale Communion.
You get a like for the air guitar alone friend. God bless.
Blackwater Park is an obvious choice to go to next I'd say - absolute *banger*
'Dogs' off of the 1977 'Animals' album by Pink Floyd.
Great reaction and analyzing. Super!
I would LOVE your reaction to Lotus Eater from Opeth. I have followed your videos for a while now, and feel it would be right up your alley!
Jury is still out for me on Opeth. I don’t argue that they’re great musicians. I just haven’t gotten there yet, with them.
Sevsimo, you’re reaction when the song went hard! Had me falling out of my chair. Lol😂
The song leaves you in such an uncomfortable place that feels a bit like insanity. And what a journey it took to get there.
This band has mastered the art of adding CRISPY bits to CHOPPY CHUNKS.
Welcome to Opeth!
Loove this song!
I love how this song lures you into a false sense of security than blasts you with exetreme growls.
Watershed was definitely their heaviest album
🔥🤟🔥😎
Blackwater park is a MUST if yoh havent already
Opeth in 1 word.... Witchy
13:31 synchronicity caught on camera.
Also, if you like the hard, choppy feels, Hex Omega follows this song on the record and they fit together beautifully. And Hex Omega is a heavy as hell banger of an album closer.
I think you will enjoy Deliverance, Baying of the hounds and Harlequin Forrest 🤘
That song, aswell as a few others on the Watershed album, is apparently about Mikael's ex girlfriend who killed herself after they broke up.
The best built-up song ever.
A Hessian is someone from the German state of Hesse (Ger: Hessen).
I don't think that helps but it's something 😄
Let's go to the roots of Opeth and listen to The Twilight Is My Robe
14:10 - ish
That's a palm muted acoustic (I guess steel string) guitar (unless you mean something that my broken speakers aren't giving me ^^)
This is Opeth, bro
Honestly honest.
Try a different Opeth song from their new era, Sorceress is really cool with no growls 🤘🤘
... yea, definitely not just a song, but an experience ...
... for beautiful sound build up i recommend 'Isis - In Fiction'. Just take long album version, not shortened official video ...
Sometimes I'am hearing the sound and sphere of early Genesis in these fabulous Opeth songs. I think it has a lot to do with the man on the keys. Early Genesis is quite a musical study and challenge on it's own. Not a lot of choppy choppiness, but if you are into prog influential prog bands, try them sometime. As always thanks for doing Opeth. They are more than just a Swedish metalband.
More Pantera please 🙏!!!
Yeah, no idea what the title refers to.
I know about the Hessian (matrix)? Which is about the... local curvature of multivariate functions 🤔
Highly doubt it's even remotely related
I thought this was yo boy fousy
By the pain i see in others from album deliverance
Listen from me dude
I miss Mikael’s growl
never met anyone that didnt like opeth
You need to meet everyone I know then.... I've never met anyone in the real world outside of an Opeth gig that likes them. I clearly have an awful family and terrible choice in friends. Seen Opeth in concert 16 times... always have to go on my own :D
Pausing is Haram
