Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Draw-Tite Front hitch receiver on a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500. Now your front hitch is gonna be a two inch by two inch, which means that there's gonna be plenty of options available as far as either putting a ball mount, a winch, a cargo carrier, or a bike rack. Now all of these accessories are gonna stay in place with a 5/8 pin and clip. Now this is not included with the front hitch, but a lot of times your accessories will come with one. Now if you want to pick up an extra or a locking one, we have those available here at etrailer, and that way you can leave your accessories loaded on, locked in place, and no one can walk away with them. No matter what accessory you're gonna be loading up, you do want to adhere to the weight capacities and if you're using a winch, this does have a line pull of 9,000 pounds, but all of your cargo weight or anything that's gonna be supported on your front hitch like your cargo carriers, or bike racks, or winches, are going to have a 500 pound capacity.
So make sure you adhere to that. But with that capacity, that means you could probably get a four bike bike rack loaded up on the front of your truck with no problem. And as far as how it sits on the truck, you can see our hitchpin hole does sit out further than the front portion of the truck. So most of your accessories that go to a stow position are gonna work great with this, without any issues of hitting your front bumper. And as far as ground clearance goes, it's pretty decent here.
It's coming in right at about 17 1/2 inches. So that's just kind of important if you are planning on moving trailers around and you need to determine if you need a rise or a drop, you can measure that coupler and mash that up with your front hitch. Now again, with your loaded accessories up front, you wanna make sure that you're not going over any large bumps or large inclines, as those can make contact with the ground but it's a pretty high ground clearance. But just kind of keep that in mind when you have those accessories loaded on. Now as far as installation goes, this one's actually pretty easy.
You do have to cut out obviously this portion and if you do have a license plate bracket up front, you will have to omit that unfortunately. So if you do have a front plate you may have to find a way to attach it elsewhere because this'll take up that factory spot. But other than that, you really are just fish wiring in two bolts and you're gonna utilize the same hardware that you have on your tow hooks and those will have to come out. But everything's really accessible and pretty easy to do overall. I'm gonna walk you through all the steps.
So let's take a look at the installation, so you can get your front hitch installed. Now to begin our installation, you're gonna want to go ahead and remove your front license plate as well as the front license plate holder here, and that way we can get an accurate measurement and we can cut nice and clean on our front bumper. And in order to get this off, it is factory riveted on, we're gonna drill those rivets out. So grab a drill bit really as far as size, you're just gonna want to get that center portion drilled out, and the rest should come with it. You can always step it up to a larger bit, but whatever you have should work pretty well here. Once you get that center kind of drilled out, it'll start to move around and the heads should come with it. So go ahead and repeat that on the other three rivets And once you get those heads drilled out, this'll go ahead and be removed. Now if you do have any excess of the rivet here, you can take a pair of pliers and just kind of pinch those ends and push them through. And that way those are knocked out. We make sure that we're measuring properly to get the whole cut out for our front hitch. And the way we're gonna do that is the bolt that's on the tow hooks, you can see it pretty well centered up. It's a little bit lower as the tow hook kind of raises a little bit. So I'm gonna kind of measure from right here to the ground. Now ours is on a lift so the numbers are gonna be a little bit skewed compared to what you may get at home. So I'll be subtracting eight inches for ours. But measuring right about there we're right at 27 inches. So I'm gonna measure that and make a small mark here. Now that's just gonna be a reference mark for now. From that mark that we made we're gonna measure down 3 and 5/8. And this may be a little bit tricky here. And that's gonna be the bottom portion of where
