Thank you for that, it was great to be confirmed in your way of setting up, especially for taming your non-dominant hand. I saw Mongo a couple of times & adopted the set up til I became comfortable with it.
Mr. Eric Perez!! Great explanation and example about how a set up of conga drums gives a lot of rythm and melodic possibilites in the art of conga drums.
There is a space missing here, the place to our right and behind ourselves, where Poncho Sánchez puts his super-tumba, I find that spot very nice for the lowest of lowest drum, usually a low E, then low G for the tumba on my right, and the rest of the drums can fit in the same space as shown in the video, but with that extra drum. It might feel weird at the beginning, but if it's placed at the position where the arm naturally falls when the torso rotates a little, it becomes very comfortable and allows for very nice combinations, like we've seen Poncho do through all this years. A bonus of this is that more drums can be placed in a reduced space, as we all know on stage it gets cramped sometimes. 🪘 🪘🙃🪘 🪘
22:25: yeah, that’s how I have mine. All drums except the main are on stands, just an inch or so off the floor. It allows their resonance to shine, while keeping them still within easy reach. Mine don’t sing like yours though, in part because a) they are inexpensive, b) the heads are good but not great, and c) most importantly, it’s me instead of you playing them.
Hi, Eric; excellent video as always!!!! Just a suggestion… I would have added for the benefit of some of us to add either the notes of how each conga is tuned! Thanks a lot!!!!

Nice! It’s amazing how creative Giovanni was with multiple congas. I’m sure you can emulate him! I read that he would practice for 12 hours!!!

❤Tremendo como siempre. Oye podrias enseñar el tumbao de Salvalo de Richie Ray.
Me gusta como suenan tus congas bro
Me gustaría saber qué notas usas para afinarlas
you are absolutely insane man U have crazy skills very inspiring
😮 wow
I think whats missing are the sizes of each set up. Do you use several tumbas or do you prefer several congas. I can't tell by the photos.
Where do you get your heads?
