I made one about 2 years ago when you first showed it. Went to hobby lobby, bought some brass tubing, bought brass pickup gauges that come on a key ring from Amazon, insert in tubing and solder. Badda boom badda bing. Tell your buddy great idea! 👍🏼

My pickup clearance gauge arrived today, with a Solo fret rocker. Thanks, Dave. I checked a few of my electric guitars set up by well-known luthiers with good reputations. I was surprised the pickups on each guitar were too high. Why wouldn’t three different luthiers not adjust the pickup height. There’s no buzzing, but at least one guitar has pickups sounding a little hot. So, I’ll adjust the pickup height and see how they sound.
too close pickups can pull the strings out of tune in upper playing positions..just sayin

Man, I didn't know these were available until a week ago when I saw a video from the guy who makes them! I made my own after seeing your videos, Dave. I took two hex keys and joined them with electric tape 😂

I always thought tools could be a good way for Dave to get proper compensation and leverage his impact on the guitar repair community. He could be the Homer Formby of guitar products. Sorry Dave! Suppose it sounds easier than it is done. We know Stew Mac is kinda pricey. A us distribution office in the midwest could help keep those costs down. Or drop ship from different outlets. Cherry pick the best tools.. Dave approved. We would eat it up. Trem block set. Deluxe heat press. Fret files. I suppose it is hard to beat Solo. Thanks Dave for all the great content. I have learned so dang much about guitar repair. When I watch Ted, I am frequently floored. When I watch Dave, I am inspired and think.. "you can do it".
