Yet, I highly doubt any of them could beat former CJI Dipak Mishra. Here is an extract from a judgement he once wrote: _This batch of writ petitions preferred under Article 32 of the Constitution of India exposits cavil in its quintessential conceptuality and percipient discord between venerated and exalted right of freedom of speech and expression of an individual, exploring manifold and multilayered, limitless, unbounded and unfettered spectrums and the controls, restrictions and constrictions, under the assumed power of 'reasonableness' ingrained in the statutory provisions relating to criminal law to reviver and uphold one's reputation._

Dipak Mishra is better, at least in terms of writing. On the contrary, this is an example of excellent moderation. He gave each person enough chance to respond, and asked them questions that brought forth credible responses
To be honest, as a BJP supporter, most Indians want liberal laws . However, we also want our culture to be preserved, nurtured and showcased. At the present and in the present , Hindu culture has been demonized everywhere in media , in academics ,etc. These things need to change and India need to own up to its culture. It doesn't mean we want other cultures to be removed. The more the merrier .
They won't understand that. That would be giving away the grounds which they so dearly hold. A liberal proud Hindu who cherishes his cultural and wants to be liberal which is in a way part and parcel of Hindu ethos, would be a bad vote bank.

@Donnie Darko you seem to try and beat around the bush. Shashi tharoors arguments made more sense relating to the events happening in India now like more communalized as the PM himself has prolonged silence after such Lynchings which is first time it's even happened in India, even Vajpayee used to condemn Communal incidents immediately despite being from same party. It looks like you need to see listen both speakers properly to know what I mean now.
@Donnie Darko you are either really stupid Or you trying to prove to me that Bjp/Rss and Modi don't have any communal agenda- even to suggest the latter is really foolish of you to do that because everyone knows including Modi supporters that they want to implement Hindutva rashtra. Very well said Mr Dasgupta, 1) The constitution is essentially a rule book 2) Its subject to changes and modifications 3) It has been subjected to manipulations and frauds (eg articles 370, 35 A). So, this constitution cannot be sacrosanct, it cannot override the voice of it's people today. So, let's not get over obsessed about this book. The living nation and the strong voices coming from it today are more important than this book.
There is a difference between modifying the constitution and wanting to remove secularism from the constitution. Of course the constitution needs to be updated with changes. But Hindutva goes against a fundamental right. Fundamental.
To see Shashi Tharoor truly desperately search for words and to see Sardesai attempting to sway the debate to his fullest capabilities all while Swapan Dasgupta calmly addressed each and every one of the points raised so articulately with germane analogies was truly quite enjoyable and enlightening !

Under BJP, Article 370 was revoked without consulting the opposition. (This is called Politics.) Under Congress, people should not forget, Article 370 was introduced without consulting the Cabinet. (This is called Imperialism of Gandhi/Nehru Parivaar.)
Article 370 was revoked by vote in parliament with present opposition despite not having majority in upper house. Hence they were all involved in the revocation
@petra bach its called politics ,, there are other provisions in art 371 which gives special concessions to states however the same party does not utter a single word about those provisions simply because of the value that kashmir holds in indian politics ,, i had no qualms about art 370 enforcement or revocation ,, its just the suppression that i dislike ,,, how will kashmiris believe in indian politics when they have seen what they have done to their leaders and with them ,, i hope everything works out in the end but it will seriously dent the belief about india in the minds of kashmiri people
@Donnie Darko RSS is a poltiical cultural organisation more religiously political than cultural and yes its the biggest but it does not make it better than other religious political organisations ,,

What does growing foreign reserves say? What does strong position of india in international forums say? What does increase in money liquidity say?

Debates of this standard and mutual respect should be more appreciated by the new India. Hindu-ness/Bharatya-ness is befitting to India than Muslin-ness/Islam-ness. We don't need remote cultures and ideologies, imposed upon us through extreme violence and destruction, to identify any aspect of us. What sustained us as a civilization for so many thousands of years is far more worth preserving than moving away from it for short-term political gains by minority appeasement and fighting invented battles against violation of minority rights. Our tradition is so remarkably different from the so called "men of book" tradition that assimilation were not possible for over thousand years. Islam's short-lived golden age ended about 800 years ago and now it's in the throes of radicals that trains its children to aspire for become suicide bombers in global jihad. Huge chunk of people in the predominantly Christian Western democracies are becoming atheists every year. No knowledge based society can, in sound frame of mind, accept the complete hegemony of one book, created by divine intervention of inspiration, over all their affairs. Our deep tradition will never allow us to surrender or dilute our ethos for this kind of utter nonsense. Minorities in India need to respect our tradition and make sincere effort to be part of it, instead of engaging in the age old habit of stretching the toleration limits of the numerical majority in the name of protecting rights which were never lost and which will always be protected in our secular democracy.
Thanku for putting it just the way it is! Abrahmas, instead of playing victim card for no reason should accept that they are not alienated in India and conversion doesn't make them white or arab!Nobody is asking them to convert back to hinduism but they should def stop being proxies of anti india forces! They should understand that they will also be harmed if India goes into civil war or any kind of mishap! Delaying india's development and choosing the wrong government would cost them too! No vetican or arab will come to help india's christians or muslims.Hindus hv accommodated every kind of ppl since forever, secularism and liberalism are hindus' basic nature unless triggered! So all i'm saying is,they need to stop playing on victimhood and start thinking of developing thr motherland(if they consider India thr own),fighing all the anti india forces to make a better India!
Language is central to culture. And the languages of India cannot survive with the current political framework.

Our Constitution is Secular Democratic with Sensible Nationalism.

Under BJP, Article 370 was revoked without consulting the opposition. (This is called Politics.)
Under Congress, people should not forget, Article 370 was introduced without consulting the Cabinet. (This is called Imperialism of Gandhi/Nehru Parivaar.)
Article 370 was revoked by vote in parliament with present opposition despite not having majority in upper house. Hence they were all involved in the revocation
I think you forgot that 370 abrogation was debated and approved by indian parliament. This is not politics. This is by far the best democratic action.

How did I miss such a good debate before!! Gr8 to hear these people & I thoroughly enjoyed such a debate!!
Don't remember the last time when I watched a 40+ mins show in a stretch apart from a OTT content, a political debate would have been the least possibility. Debates of this standard and mutual respect should be more appreciated by the new India. The Indian-public cannot simply blame the government and media for being less accommodative and radically one-sided, because the laters are a sample size of the formers.
