Hi, Delci! I always enjoy seeing the goats. Such amazing animals. As always, you do such a great job sharing great information. I really look forward to your videos. GOD bless you my friend! Have a wonderful day! 😊❤️🙏🏼
Newbie to milk goats. Got what we could afford. So definitely not high dollar goats. We are milking three Nigerian dwarfs/ mixed. First fresheners, all single births, teats very small. One even had double teats. So with all these firsts. We are kid sharing. Milking once daily. And we are getting around four cups between all three goats. They freshened a month ago. So hoping production will go up. But we are learning as we go. We did go back to higher quality hay for them. We tried buying bull and cheaper hay. But went back yesterday to higher dollar hay for these three. Also added beet pulp pellets to their goat feed. I will say even though they are not high dollar goats. I’m so I’m love with these goats. And can’t wait to increase milk production for our family. Thanks for all the great info you give us. We appreciate the time you take teaching us. We are learning as we wait for bigger and better things.
I wish I was living this lifestyle! I somewhat am on a half acre. We have a big garden, turkeys, chickens, and rabbits. I've wanted goats for a few years now and am really wanting to get my set up going and get a couple of goats for milk. I'm worried about space but more so there is so much I need to learn! This video was very fun to watch and that's amazing how the milk production can differ. Thank you for sharing, I subscribed and will check out your other videos.
I have three in milk, but I'm having two of them just raise their kids and getting them used to the stand and being touched. I milk our LaMancha doe once a day and get between 5 & 6 cups a day. She was being dried off when we bought her, but I really wanted to learn to milk and have some for our little guy to drink. It's so good and I found I love milkzing each morning. It's so peaceful.
Thank you for the encouragement to just start with the goats. I have such a mixed bag of goats Nds an Alpine/Nubian, a mini La Mancha and a mini Alpine.. so excited to what kind of milkers I can make. One of my Nds was bred to a mini Alpine with good dairy lines so I can't wait to see what they produce. I have often felt all over the place but I'm slowly understanding more and more about what I want to see in my goats and it's so fun. Thanks again for you and your channel.
Just found your channel! We have a small herd of Mini Nubians also - one just kidded two weeks ago and her sister should kid any day. I’m excited to see how they milk, as they are both first timers. We also have an Alpine mix who has given almost a gallon a day for just about two years straight now!
I am currently milking 1 Nigerian Dwarf. She is 6 weeks fresh and we get about 2 cups twice a day and I am still bottle feeding her single doeling. Unfortunately we ended up with 3 of our 5 does that have issues being bred or not even being and to be bred and one that has a prolapse. So we are thinking about moving towards getting some Nubians and breeding for Mini Nubians. We are breeding for milk use for our family and 4h animals.
I have just found your channel, and have very muched enjoyed watching you. We live on the other side of the country in Massachusetts, and we raise Nubians. I got started with 2 does that someone had owned but died, and the family didn't want them. They were not registered so we have been working on a pedigree. It takes a long time to learn all of that and to meet people who have good breeding stock. After 6 years we have 2 does born this year that are 2nd generation and are 75% American Nubian. We think that a good pedigree is important to have so the kids can show 4H in the breed class. Since we live where not a lot of people have goats there are often not many people in the grade class.I have 4 that we milk currently and also have more milk than a family of 9 can use. I have loved having babies. We bottle raise most of them to help with socialization, and with even udders and to help prevent CAE, so lots of pasteurizing of milk. This lifestyle has been most excellent. I love being a goat owner and all of the responsibility it teaches my children. Thank you for taking the time to teach.

You failed to say that this is only one milking...so for newbies remember you will get this much twice a day! I loved your goat milk test. We have one Nubian who gave 5 qts per day in peak...and she was first freshner. Our Nigerian Dwarf peaked at 2 qts per day but it was the sweetest, creamiest milk ever. This spring I will have my first Mini Nubians kidding so I’m hoping for sweet milk, and a lot of it!
I can't remember if I said in in this video, but I am only milking once a day. But you're right! It would double a day if I milked twice! I hope that for you as well! Bring on the sweet and creamy milk!

Hi Delci, I have an 8 month old Mixed. Billy goat, can I put him in pasture with the Sheep? I need to find him a mate but haven't found one yet his crying breaks my heart. He appears ready to mate and we were not sure and have been keeping separate.
The only thing to pay attention to is the copper intake of both animals. Your goats need sufficient copper to be healthy but sheep will die if they overdose on it. So you could use a liberal labeled for goats and sheep but you need to make sure that your goat is getting enough copper. And that can be given in boluses if it’s needed.
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage Keep in mind that you can't let him run all year with him mate, and that one female isn't going to satisfy him, also you will need sturdy fences to keep him away from the does at all other times of the year besides breeding season.

My 3yr registered mini la mancha, Momo, is consistently producing about 2quarts, she freshened in March, but I didn't get her until June and she is my first milk goat. She has a great capacity and attachment, going to breed her to a full La Mancha buck, (I hope!) Snickers is my Alpine/Nubian she was a bit of a bargain goat with a lopsided udder, a blind eye, and torn ear, 😕 but she's the sweetest goat she, milks easy and she was supposed to have be possibly bred (also questionable because she freshened in February?) But she wasn't bred afterall..she's still giving just under a quart, but I have high hopes for her next freshing.
At that age, you can separate them at night and milk her in the morning. She’ll save some milk for them and then the kids can have the rest of the milk all day long. It works well! 😊 You can watch more about me explain the different ways you can milk after kidding here: ruclips.net/video/2lUqmML7kdo/видео.html
Can you check Craigslist for your area? Or we have Facebook groups for our area that help find and sell farm animals. Your local extension agent might have some ideas of where to start too.
So do you cull your older goats or sale them? I want goats but in my location it will be very hard to sale them so I would have to cull them. As hard as that would be but how would this meat be?
My oldest doe will grow old and die on our property. We plan to get a goat cart and give her a job pulling the kids around until she's too old to do that :) I wouldn't know about the meat. It would be something you'd just have to try and see what you think!
I'm going to do a video about this this spring/summer. I've never kept track separately on each of the goats, but I will when they go back into milk because I'm curious as well!
If a goat isn’t bred again after being in milk, You can keep milking her indefinitely (in theory). Some goats will drop off in their milk supply quite a bit after awhile.
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage can we say 1 year goat gave milk after kidding and if not return breeding .....when will drop off .....how many months later fully dry

Snickers is my Alpine/Nubian she was a bit of a bargain goat with a lopsided udder, a blind eye, and torn ear, 😕 but she's the sweetest goat she, milks easy and she was supposed to have be possibly bred (also questionable because she freshened in February?) But she wasn't bred afterall..she's still giving just under a quart, but I have high hopes for her next freshing.
This is so wonderful! Thank you for sharing! It is exciting to think about the future hopes, isn't it?
I love your all video. Iam from africa where nobain goats original. Sudan my goats give me 1.5 litter daily
I keep German alpines in Kenya. I get roughly 2litres per goat. breeding us a challenge
hi delci is it right to milk the goats in two weeks when the babies are two weeks old
At that age, you can separate them at night and milk her in the morning. She’ll save some milk for them and then the kids can have the rest of the milk all day long. It works well! 😊
You can watch more about me explain the different ways you can milk after kidding here: ruclips.net/video/2lUqmML7kdo/видео.html
I am in Norther California, where can I buy a goat for milk?
Can you check Craigslist for your area? Or we have Facebook groups for our area that help find and sell farm animals. Your local extension agent might have some ideas of where to start too.
So do you cull your older goats or sale them? I want goats but in my location it will be very hard to sale them so I would have to cull them. As hard as that would be but how would this meat be?
My oldest doe will grow old and die on our property. We plan to get a goat cart and give her a job pulling the kids around until she's too old to do that :)
I wouldn't know about the meat. It would be something you'd just have to try and see what you think!
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage I've been told that old goat meat is tough as leather.
Roughly how much were you getting from each at the height of production?
I'm going to do a video about this this spring/summer. I've never kept track separately on each of the goats, but I will when they go back into milk because I'm curious as well!
Why aren’t they tagged? Are they not full breed?
How does the flavor of mini Nubian compare with Nigerian milk?
Personally I like mini Nubian milk better but that's my opinion
You know, I’ve never split them all out and taste tested. The milk is always mixed together. But what we have has an excellent taste! 😋
Very very good and interesting 👌 video love from Pakistan
Do you sell any of your goats and where are you located?
How many months goat gave milk after kidding if not pregnant
If a goat isn’t bred again after being in milk, You can keep milking her indefinitely (in theory). Some goats will drop off in their milk supply quite a bit after awhile.
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage can we say 1 year goat gave milk after kidding and if not return breeding .....when will drop off .....how many months later fully dry
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage thanks for importance....be benificall in life
