Red headed neighbor, this is the performance that got me hooked on Angelina Jordan! I saw this years ago, and have watched everything that she has done since. She's my favorite singer. Oh yeah, I'm a 74 year old musician and have listened to a lot of music. Angelina is a once in a lifetime talent. She is also a wonderful person. ❤❤❤

I believe he said in regards to this song she was beyond beyond.

I think what's surprising is the types of songs that she sung at such a young age. I guess they were the songs her parents listened to.
It was her maternal Grandma, Mery Zamani's music that she listened to, not her parents.

This was an unbelievable performance. Something truly amazing happens when this girl takes the stage. It's hard to explain in words. When she performs there is no longer a musical composition, an arrangement, a singer singing, it all merges into one magical moment. She channels all the greats who have gone before. She is a true artist, a prodigy, a genius, and sweet. 😇
This little - she was at the time - child......! Her timing in the lyrics, her tempo, her vibrato, her way of frasing....... Well, I have no words. Good God..... ❤

Angelina puts on another masterclass of vocal perfection with her perfectly applied timing, phrasing, slides, breathiness, vibrato, negative space, and so much more.
Just sublime. And also, this is the cutest AJ somehow, with the flowers and the teeth, and she just seems so at ease. Her attitude fits the song musically perfectly, even though the lyrics are much more mature. It kind of shows that there is indeed something childlike in our deepest hearts, even when we're talking about 'grown up' things. I'm pretty sure this is one of the key performances that led people to say "Angel" and "Angels", because really, what else can you say here?

First thng hat I noticed was her smile. Months before this (NGT audition) she didn't have 2 front teeth. 😊 This was my first "favorite song".
I was 13 when Dinah Washington released it. I got flash backs the first time that I heard Angelina's rendition.

Wonderful reaction Red, thank you! One of the impressive talents, among many, that Angelina exhibited from the start was her PATIENCE. How a little 8 year old can so calmly work her way through a song like this and maintain a dead-on tempo while singing the song so beautifully and just flowing with the music - it's just beyond me how that is possible. But Angelina has and still does many things that should be otherwise impossible.
Red, it's hard to pick which Angelina song is our favorite but without question this performance ranks very high on someone's list. There are so many things going on in this video it's hard to keep track unless you listen to this video about 100 times which most of us have done. Her age was 8 but vocally and artistically she resembled a talented artist with many years experience. Red, besides her extraordinary talent there is something else going on here. It's 'who she is' that touches our hearts and when all of that is put together in one package Angelina is someone very, very special and we are very happy she is here with us to bring us love and inspire us to be kinder, more caring and loving than ever before in our lives. Strong statement? Red, ask any angel if they feel the same way. Btw, when she sang "There's a rainbow before me", did you melt when you saw her famous half smile?

Can you imagine what it must be like for her mother, Sara, She must have balled her eyes out for at least the first couple of years since she started to sing in public. To know that you were so blessed to have a child like this.

AJ really kills on this Dinah Washington classic! When she closes her eyes and goes to her happy place, she can channel any emotions from the past singers of a song whether she has felt them herself or not. Her level of empathy is off the chain. BTW, going back to hear parts again is fine, of course, but the skittering of those skip buttons seems rather jarring to me, mouse pointer in the timeline works better gor me. I’ve listened to this particular performance of Jordan’s hundreds of times, and it gets me every single time. She’s all alone on that secluded island in front of thousands of people, and as soon as the music starts, Jordan goes to her special place, and if you close your eyes, you’d swear she transformed her voice into Dinah Washington’s, only to open them and see an eight year old adorable angel, a messenger descended from the Light, which is actually what Angelina Jordan Astar means when translated!

I know there are some songs that Angelina sings that don't choke me up, this is not one of them. The beauty and maturity you hear in that glorious voice go way past remarkable. Hello Red, this was a national TV-show a month after her winning NGT 2014. She sings in the voice of Diana Washington (It is difficult, even for experts to hear a difference between AJ and Diana). I was told by a few very proud Norwegians, that 2 to 3 weeks after this, the people of Norway declared Miss Angelina Jordan Astar, the National Treasure of Norway. She holds this title to this very day. Every Musician and vocalist working with her, feels deeply honored.
