      Same power, more money spent. If limited to pump gas, you'd actually hurt performance with more head flow. Reason is that most turbos want to be making at least 17psi. Hemi guys got sold on the incorrect idea that they need heads before thinking about turbos.

    • @Sixguns1
      @Sixguns1 3 года назад +1

      @@StabyMcStabsFace You're right, with the equipment used in this test it wouldn't make much difference. My focus is more my combo with big valve ported eagles, high compression forged lower end. It will be run at 30+ psi on meth where it makes a big difference. Sorry for the omission of those important details.

      Eagle heads are awesome flow 330 stock. even more then the ported version of the early 5.7 but the real head to consider is the 6.4 apache heads with the huge intake valve stock flow 340 (I have a set of 6.4 heads for sale) the 6.4 has a better oval combustion chamber also

    Also, I wish I hadn't had sold my 1984 Ramcharger with a 360 Magnum swap, A727, and NP205 case in it, because a Gen III Hemi would've been an AWESOME upgrade for it. I was younger when I had that truck and I didn't know anything about carburetors back then, so I swapped in the Magnum with MPFI thinking it'd run so much better, and it did, but I found out afterwards that the whole reason the 360 LA with the Carter Thermoquad had so many issues was due to vapor lock and I had no clue what that was at the time or how to fix it. It ran great otherwise and was really powerful, but after 20 minutes of driving it would just die and the only way I could get it to run again was to pour gas into the carb.

    Very cool love all your vids. But what was the compression ratio of this build? it looks fairly stock, so knocking? Does that fuel and intercooler compensate that much?
    No mention of dish pistons or cometic gaskets?

    • @hayden6056
      @hayden6056 3 года назад +2

      Cometic gaskets only lower compression if ordered in a custom thickness. E85 makes a huge difference as does the intercooler.
      Even with modern compression ratios though you can usually boost anything as long as the tune is right even with pump fuel and boost settings conservative-ish.
      I've got a Japanese motor originally designed for boost with 8.5:1 stock. With an air to air intercooler we could still run 15 psi on pump fuel when we upped the compression to 10:1 for e85. It did have longer duration cams which brings the dynamic down .
      I've not turboed as many modern motors but have turboed stock motors in the 9's compression ratio up to twenty pounds with air to air intercoolers on pump fuel. Some with iron heads!
      Once my s13 comes back from the panel beaters and now the motos re assembled after the 10k pull down check its had were hoping 30-40 psi of boost and won't have ping issues on pump e85.

    • @MR-uk7iy
      @MR-uk7iy 3 года назад +2

      @@hayden6056 Very impressive, and yes most hemis come with a 10.5.1 compression or slightly higher, and from what I have gathered lower compression = more boost. I think the Japanese motors you referenced are designed for that goal. V8's not so much, especially with the pistons (ring gap, and how far down from the top) they tend to go boom if you try to run 12 lbs or higher boost consistently. Don't wanna clench my third eye every time I go pass 10 lbs.
      I was just surprised he didn't touch on it because detonation on big displacement hemis is definitely a thing. Yeah tune is huge.

      With the truck timing cover you would have to run a truck intake. MMX makes a bracket kit to spread your compressor and alternator out of the way of the throttle body on the car intakes. It comes with a timing cover with the top hacked off. You can also run a car timing cover to just relocate your alternator and compressor, but will have to extend a/c hoses and alternator wiring. Also, alternator may contact the frame rail. If you use a gen 4 intake, the coolant passage bump under the throttle body makes contact with the bottom of the intake - many guys solve this with a heat gun and some light molding of the underside of the intake.

    Those Comp turbos are terrifying. Oilless design? A grease nipple and an aluminum center section?
    The "80mm" turbo they say is a 4508 design. The compressor is 80x102mm and that's not a copy of any compressor I've seen. It's 62 trim and you almost never see trim that high on compressors this big. A T04z and Gt2860rs have them but they are quite a bit smaller. The turbine wheel looks about big s400 size, it's 96x88m. Strange, it's all strange.
