You can tell where Thom Bresh gets his story telling skills from.Plays and sounds like Merle all the while telling wonderful stories of his experiences.
Idk who found this tape and preserved it. But ty for doing so and sharing it. These stories from the man himself Merle Travis, are nothing short of fascinating and amazing. My dad was the first person to introduce me to the music of Merle Travis was when I was growing up in the 60s. I was into Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, mainly because of my age, and radio, record albums and syndicated TV shows. As I grew up I began to take note that Chet was quick to give credit to Merle Travis for inspiring him. Travis was definitely ahead of his time. I’m blessed to be able to say that Travis’ son, Thom Bresh is a friend, and I’ve worked as an opening act for Bresh on several occasions throughout the years. The Breshman is one of the greatest. Does anyone know who this person named Ed is that interviews Travis on this tape?
Hi, i have a question : he is saying that he was born on November 17th, but in documentary about him the birth date is 29th of November, as well as in all internet. So, what is the true birth date?
@@curvefeeler please let me know as soon as you will find out anything, because im writing desertation and i need this to be clarified. Thanks in advance!
Hi, Jevgenij.. got a reply today: Merle Travis: Thumbpicker Patrick All other sources, including his family and himself, say November 29. Travis may have misspoken and didn’t feel the need to correct himself.
