Hello Alex, another great video in a wonderful country on a beautiful river. 5 times i have bin in Newzealand and my last time i spent 3 weeks only for fly fishing at the Tongariro river in Turangi at Ian’s place. Just great!!! I have to come back 😢 Give me more of this amazing videos!!! Greez from Sam Switzerland
Put in the mahi and get the treats. Loved this video Alex. Real, beautiful cinematography, excellent music and a truly special place with lovely fish. Epic. Thanks heaps for sharing.
Hi Alex, another great video from you. And another compliment to you for the 42-minute film you made with Mike Kirkpatrick. Pictures that make you want to get on a plane right away. Keep up the good work! Best regards from Switzerland.
Editing note.. The sequence starting at the 10 minute mark.. the footage, the slo mo.. the beats, The conclusion... My Dude !.. I recon that's up there with some of your best work... outstanding 😎🙏
Enjoyed the video. Those were some really beautiful fish you guys nailed. I hope to do some of that on my upcoming trip to Montana, though the fish will be smaller. By the way, I also enjoyed Mike Kirkpatrick's video of you ( title : "Alex Waller - Living my best life. A fly fishing journey" ). As I noted in my post there, you two produce the best fishing videos in NZ. I don't miss watching them even after a long day of fishing.
I didn’t realise just how much tapered leader and tippet you are meant to use. The fly ends up being 15ft after the fly line… I usually just do a 9 foot tapered leader and a foot or two of tippet? Think I’ve been doing it wrong.. I’ll give this setup a go!
Takes a lot of skill to cast those 15ft+ leaders especially on a windy day. I think I would probably end up spooking even more fish (and spend a lot of time undoing tangles) than I do by getting a decent presentation with 10-12ft of leader. Definitely something to work towards though if you want to catch spooky trout in ultra clear water
Thanks Alex.Just wondered as 9ft rod and those long leaders meant tippet rings had to be wound through the guides.Have done it with reservoir 10ft 7/8 weights here in uk but not the 4/5/6 weights
Nice vid as always. It's a bit trippy to live with the exact opposite in seasons 😅 Anyway, I hope the colder days brings out a lot of swing rod with streamers. Perhaps some gamechangers... that's always a blast to watch.
I’m not selling knives no but my Buddy INNERWILD.CO.NZ does. If you want a Trippin on Trout knife you have to be on my Patreon but he does other regular styles on his website
Just saw the piece on the mikefsher channel fella. Good to see someone doing the filming and editing for you! Great to understand more, of your journey to the pinnacle of fly fishing nirvana. Best, as always, Mike in the Scottish Borders. (Take a look trippin' viewers!). ruclips.net/video/y6kLoQkEuDA/видео.html

Depends on the fishery and conditions etc but yeah sometimes you gotta go long!

Cool vid, Alex. Question: what are those boots with the zipper? They look amazing!
Size matters apparently when in struggle street. Cool top notch content as always.
Cheers buddy!
Is that fresh snow on mountains? They seem to be hungry.
It sure was fresh!
Another good film Alex.Quick ? regarding tippet rings.Which size and no issues winding through the guides ?
I use the small and never had an issue with them (or the medium)
I’ve always wondered about that
Thanks Alex.Just wondered as 9ft rod and those long leaders meant tippet rings had to be wound through the guides.Have done it with reservoir 10ft 7/8 weights here in uk but not the 4/5/6 weights
@@ShotawayFilms Nah mate never had an issue👍
