- Can you believe I've never ridden in New York State?
I'm pretty stoked on what I discovered in the Adirondacks. These communities are coming together to make something really special.
My first stop, after checking in at the Cadence Lodge in Wilmington, was Mt. Otis in Elizabethtown for the Dirt Church group ride. What a perfect little gem of really tough techy riding.
After lunch I went over to the Wilmington bike park and talked to the two sixth graders who have become the amazing advocates for MTB in their town.
Thanks to Adirondacks USA for sponsoring this three-part series! Check it out for yourself: bit.ly/2PBXZNs

"This is my go to relaxing channel. Brian's got the most zen attitude of all the MTB vloggers. Super chill"

Those kids are awesome! If you come down Central New York way I would love to show you some more New York dirt
Clay Fick count me in on that!
People and nut job politicians can say "Make America Great Again" but this is what it takes to actually do it. Cudos to their parents for "teaching them to fish". Outstanding and BK thanks for telling the story.
Man those kids are unbelievable, at this young age to have the vision and the ability to pull the community around them

Once the van gets going you should film a x-country road trip called "Your Local Trail". It will highlight trails that the locals love but are not considered epic to draw massive regional or national visitors. You could highlight some of these small but gem trails.
For example in NE Ohio we have East Rim which is 10 miles of professionally built legal flow trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The first national park in the United States to have legal MTB trails. It's not epic enough to fly across the country for, but if you hit gems like this on a road trip it would be interesting.
If you come to Edmonton, Alberta. Hyperloop would be one
Nice, first I've heard of that one!
Sounds like a good season worth of material to me
@@bkxc hey mate love your videos long time subscriber..have you mountain bikes in Australia?
Can't find any videos on Australian ride
@@bkxc Feature in Bike Magazine. A bit dated, now a total of 10 miles including a downhill run same distance and elevation drop as DuPont Ridgeline. bikemag.com/features/originals/rei-cleveland/
So cool, what a sense of community at the kids trail!
This is Charlie thanks for including us in your video. We raised even more money at our race (Hardy Kids MTB Race) this past Labor Day weekend. Going to add more to the skills park. Hopefully you can come to the Wilmington MTB festival next year and check it out!
Awesome!! Great job you guys.
It warms my heart to see the community kids working so hard to make a bike park for themselves.
That was a cool thing you did for those kids to help promote them on your channel. 👍🏻👍🏻
When you come back to NY, hit me up. We have a place with 19 acres between Windham Mountain and Hunter Mountain in the Catskills. Plenty of GNAR in the area and you have place to stay if you want. Working with my teenage boys to start some single track around our property which even has a waterfall and an orchard. Keep up the great work!
You kick out more good content than anyone else to fill our fiendish needs. Thanks Brian, Keep ‘Em Rollin’
Welcome to our home, buddy! Been watching you a long time and so glad you visited. Yeah, it's pretty gnar up here and you're right about our bike culture developing. It's young but full of promise. My wife actually works with Jeff's wife in Elizabethtown!
Small world!!
Great video! Highlights were those amazing kids at the end and Jackson, the slowest, most meandering trail dog I've ever seen. What a cutie!
Trail bear 😂😂 and when he passed him omg I'm dying 😂😂
Brian, those kids are so cool! At their age I probably spent my days watching tv and dreaming of a new transformer toy. It's so amazing watching young kids so committed to mtb and so involved in their community and so supported as well.
Your skills and confidence on the bike have grown so much! Great job man. Keep on living the dream!
Best part of that video was you taking the time to give those kids some spotlight. Its amazing to see what a bit of drive and a supportive community can do. Enjoy the east coast jank!
Great job of those kids kick-starting that whole skills area build! 🤘
The kids getting the skills area going is the best part of the video! So awesome!
Great ride! But the segment at the end with the kids bringing the community together brought tears to my eye! That was awesome!! Those kids are heroes!!! Thank you so much for including this in your edit! As always thanks for such great content!
Kudos to the future of mountain biking! Love to see kids out doing good stuff and having a vision. And kudos to the adults for helping them achieve this goal! Haven't been to that part of NY, but certainly will make it a goal. So beautiful! Thanks!😊
It's so inspirational and nice to see young people roll up their sleeves and get the job done!
I love your videos. I like the stuff about the travels(food, transportation, hotels) just as much as the riding. The riding footage is always top notch but it’s the extra non riding footage that sets you apart.
Thanks so much Brad!
Great video! Loved the kids at the end, and seeing people come together to build something positive for the community! Also...those trails looked like a blast! I'll take 6 memorable miles over 15 boring ones every time. Oh...and at the 12:40 mark, that big rock feature is screaming for a ladder bridge off the backside, but I couldn't tell how high it really was. COOL feature with an awesome view though! People think of New York as being New York City, but there are some beautiful places in NY State!! Glad you landed there, and are bringing us with you.
It was so cool to see the community come together like that!
God, I love how positive you are. I hope to take inspiration from you laughing about being stuck in traffic for four hours.
been a subscriber since the beginning. it was awesome to see you ride my local trails. I live in willimgton and the trails are awasome. beta does a great job with them. I hope you ride the hardy and the flume trails but before you leave a screaming fast run down the poor man downhill is always good for the soul.
Oh wow, glad I could get to your neck of the woods! Saving Poor Man's for next time!
As a local there is some secret single tracks that make double blacks blush
Omg those little guys were great, totally on point with their plan and even did awesome on camera
The biking community is thriving and I’m happy to see this! Very awesome video seeing ppl working together and enjoying this
Love your travel videos. Also, cool to see the partnerships you have developed with local tourism and biking for some of your trips. Right, on!
Amazed by the community there, wow 🤩
Jackson is way more polite by letting you pass than lots of any other racers out there 🤣
that looks awesome
Look at the sheer excitement on those boys faces...that's priceless
Awesome vid! Welcome to NY, if you come down to Long Island we have some nice trails too, and a great MTB club called CLIMB.
What a great community! Really appreciate how they supported the children! 👍🏽
After the last total eclipse of the sun, it took us about 5 hours to drive from Nashville, TN back to southern Indiana because of all the traffic (normally 2 1/2 hours). But four hours in one spot (basically), waiting for a movie. *Shakes old man fist*
Love the kids community build! Making it happen.
Hahaha, yep, the traffic was like nothing I've ever experienced!
Awesome work by the kids. Great seeing such a community spirit working well together
hey man what an awesome day and it turned out to be a really cool adventure too. thanks for the adventure!!
Kudos not so much for the ride this time but for the kids and their effort. awesome work!
Awesome to see those groms get into building their bike park!
Such a cool video. Loved the trail right of way issues with Jackson, triangle may need to add dogs. Awesome at the end with kids trail project.
You are putting out some fantastic videos.
Jackson was crack’n me up. The kids story was really neat. Pretty cool to see the group/community come together around a shared passion
Small towns are so great when you have an engaged and active community.
Most definitely!!
Awesome kids!! amazing what a community can do when everyone gets together. Future of mountain biking is in safe hands with guys like that around!
Awesome video. Great to see the community and kids come together and build mountain bike trails. Upstate New York is beautiful. My home state.
that was so cool . and those 2 little kids unbelievable.
What a fantastic community. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing this. Can’t wait to see what’s next !!!!
Loved you "tabernack" hehe
Hoping to go MTB in Vermont next summer, I heard good things. These Adirondacks trails look mighty fine.
Cheers from Quebec City.
at the end, one of the most inspiring trail building stories-right on, BKXC!
I am living vicariously through your videos ive been watching the past few days!!! I am a NY'er, I love the DAKS and WISH my hands were good enough to do these trails
Another fantastic video Brian. Great to see some really interesting trails on the East Coast. Those kids were amazing...funny how so many people lose the 'Can Do' attitude by the time they're adults.
So true!
Great video , I live about 4 hours from there in western NY . I had no idea all that cool stuff existed ! I am going to have to check it out ! Old Brian swears like a sailor! Uncle Brian no more swearing ! Love it ❤️
Doing my best!!
Those kids did an awesome job getting that trail going and getting the community behind it
Thanks, I'm late to viewing this but it's another epic find in NY! Now on to watch your day 2.
Wow. Those kids are an inspiration to actually get out there and make stuff happen. Good for them!
Those kids are going places man that is so amazing so much respect for them.
So great. You have got such good community Projects we can only dream of here in my region!
We must have just missed you then. My family and I were camping in Wilmington the week before Labor Day and we had the opportunity to ride around that bike park. We met the people building the park and got to watch those kids shred the pump track. Pretty cool to see it all on RUclips!
I grew up in that area. Awesome to see you enjoying it. One of the most beautiful parts of the US in my opinion!
It really was breathtaking!
Beautiful up there! I bet fall is pretty spectacular!
Awesome video, thanks for showing us the community spirit
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I work in Lake Placid and its awesome to have the after work rides so close!
Excellent video, great to see so much great riding to be had all over this country! Keep up the good work!
I love you. You give me a lot of energy, I don't know what it is about you but I'm glad I found ya. Keep going, love from Germany !
Glad you're here!
Welcome to NY Brian. Glad you finally made it here!!
I love your vids, especially the B.C. vids, as I am Canadian, lol but I gotta say, I think this one tops it, my favorite vid thus far, loved seeing the kids puttin in work
I spent all last week there, the park is rad, the subs are stout and the views are unbeatable.
JERK!!! lol!!! Trail looks cool, we were going to go there this summer but went to Colorado because we didn't know, we will have to get here now!
How awesome are those kids! I’m glad you finally got to my hometown area of US! I’m from just south of there in Rome! I love the mountains there! Such beauty, esp in the fall! You ought to go back then!
He’s right about the lack of snow, hit and miss! When I was growing up in 70s, we averaged 15 ft a year. Much was lake effect....
Anyway, can’t wait for the next 2 videos!
Wow, crazy about the difference in the snow!!
Another great video, they just keep getting better and better.
Also check out Elm Ridge in the Catskills by Windham Mountian for some more sick NY trail riding.
Yeaaaahh man, just hit Elm Ridge last week, it was amazing
Brian! Glad you got the sponsored trip. Whatever it takes to get some coverage for the eastern half of the country! Looks like some great riding, but from what I've ridden in the state I'm not surprised.
Come down to Pennsylvania some time for a ride - mucho badness can be had. The Trails at Jake's Rocks is one up and coming ride destination - check it out.
Thanks again!!
It was a good one!
I love watching your videos! Those kids are amazing.
So awesome Brian you made out here to see the trail and hope you enjoyed your time here.
Love the kids taking the tradition !
Nice shave lol. Man loving your vids keeping this old man dreaming of tearing some trails..keep em coming.
That's what it's all about Mike!
I live in central NY. So so so many trails that are amazing all over NY. I have a days worth of trails I could show you all with in a 2 hour drive. A few ski/bike mountain parks as well. At least 20 amazing trails with everything you can think of. Have a few bike clubs here and also many different group rides.
Bryan you need to come down to Lake Druid in Orlando Florida. I am a trail builder there and we are just now building some big features. Also mount Dora is another local spot in Florida that could use recognition. Let me know if you have any questions see you on the trail.
First I've heard of it!! Make sure you put your trails on Trailforks and have your MTB association linked!
Enjoy these lesser known trail rides. Keep it up!
Brian so stoked to see you in my state! Those kids are awesome!!! Unbelievable
Your positive attitude is like a shot of adrenaline! Safe travels. I'm subbed!
Thanks so much!
those kids are super awesome! wish more adults would take initiative and just make things happen like they do🤘
Thanks for that, I live a few hours from there and I never knew they had such wide selection of trails. Love the new gloves....just ordered a set for the fall (orange is a requirement around here)
Awesome!! Thanks for the support!
Dude! Awesome trails, and people!! Those kids were awesome
Cool Brian. Welcome to NY my home state. I live on Long Island and ride many of the local trails here. Those Adirondack trails look great. Maybe time for a road trip.
Mini rock slabs everywhere! Pretty cool!
I never knew New York had such cool looking trails. This was a really cool video.
They've got a LOT of trails, it's a big state!
@@bkxc That's really cool
I’ve been to lake placid a few times. I love it! Never knew there was mountain biking there, maybe I’ll go riding next time I go!
Do it!
Glad to see you up here in the north east. If you look around, you'll find plenty of good riding. 🤘
I miss the Adirondacks! Roamed in those woods but never got to ride. Thanks for the beta!
Glad you connected with some regional promotion. Small town USA is worth seeing! 👍
Brian! When you come to this neck of the woods next year, you gotta come to some trails that are SLMBA Trails (St. Lawrence County Mountain Bike Association). We have some awesome NY Gnar to show you! Everything from green flow to black rock rolls and chunk and chunder!
Chances are that you drove through the town they're in to get to Wilmington actually!
The Little Super Market makes some great sandwhiches!
Nice, I'm looking up the trails on Trailforks now!
@@bkxc The best ones are at the Lenny Rd system!
Wait! What? You flew to Montreal to get to New York from Cali? Jeez you like the round about adventures!!!
The trails look really nice. It's a supposedly 10 hours drive from Toronto. Guess we should try dropping in from the 416 one of these seasons.
If you're adventurous and make it to the 416, I'll make sure to drag you around some of the amazing inner city trails.
Have fun. Another amazing ride.
Be good, do better!
Henry & Charlie are very inspiring to the upcoming generation ....👍🏻🚵🏻
Hey man! Big fan! Love that you were in Ny upstate, if you’re ever down my way you gotta check out the Port Jervis watershed trails! It’s only 45 minutes from mountain creek and I think you’d love the local built 40+ miles we have. Hope to see you soon.
Really beautiful trail.
I love the Adirondacks! Hiked and rode my motorcycle all over the place (great roads), but never mountain biking (had an old Kona 26" at the time). Hope to get back there at some point (2700 miles). Thanks!
Awesome finale to the video!
You should check out Poor Man’s Downhill in Wilmington. The bottom is just past the North Pole campground. I have yet to find the top because it’s a 3 mile downhill run and the very top is tricky to find. Fantastic video! It hit home because I love camping and biking up there!
Grew up in the Adirondacks!!! Miss it so much!!!!
1. The way you pronounce tabarnak hahaha so good
2. When you were loading the bike i was thinking 'broo your pedals?!'
3. Looks like some fun trails, but you know its not steep enough when the dog overtakes on the downhill
Hahaha you spotted the missing pedals, good eye!!
