The sermon gets recorded through the mics and a small mixer board into a recorder, and afterwards we use a bulk tape copier to make up to three copies at a time. They're for people who want to hear the sermons again or if anyone missed the previous services.

As others have said, I have used these tapes for many years, too. I have thought that they look very similar to TDK tapes of that era. So, I don't know if TDK manufactured them for Kingdom or not. While going through things in my garage during quarantine, I discovered boxes of church service recordings on these tapes. About 30 years later, the recordings hold up very well on them. No "sticky tape syndrome," or drops in sound quality.
After tapes, we went to CD-R recording and duplication. Now, I send an audio signal back to someone else who is running a video switcher connected to a Macintosh laptop running e-cam software streaming to RUclips. Oh my, how far we have come!

What was keeping cassette tapes in production was the US Prison market and the specs for those tapes require they be clear and the tapes have to be sonic welded shut. Basically we had some strange electronics made because of prisons including a speakerless clear RCA CRT TV made with a digital tuner. It only existed because they hadn't cleared Flat screens as safe for jail. Techmoan did a video on his American Prisoner tech collection.

nice score brutha VW, in my old indie band we used to buy similar bulk blank cassettes & laser printer labels to DIY our music back in the early 90s. Now that you've spread the word, I bet Kingdom will sell out quickly.

Your videos are always so informative and entertaining. I had a box of 100 "duplicator" cassettes - came from a church - but these had shell warping issues and some of my early cassette recorders weren't strong enough to play them. Your tapes seem much better and sound great!
But the BEST part of your video was that song "New Jersey" at the end. I have never heard the like - it sounded like a hymn or anthem to a state! I've visited New Jersey many times, but never got the urge to move there like the folks singing this song! Advertising gone over the top - Amazing. Thanks for the fun video. I always look forward to your postings.

These tapes may sound good, but be forewarned. Be careful when selecting your source material. I tried recording Deicide's "The Stench of Redemption" on one, and it burst into flames, nearly taking out my Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2.

Exactly what I would expect for the audio quality from a new old stock (NOS) blank cassette tape! I have a similar experience with a Maxell UE Type I Tape that I bought 2 boxes of it, ALL SEALED, old new stock for around $20 or around 1000php. Good thing I have my 3 head tape deck and I got a similar output as yours, very decent sound quality. I didn't need to playback with Dolby NR after recording.

Another cassette video- happy days. I love picking up sealed blank tapes in charity shops and used high- end ones as well ,( not all charity shops will sell used ones though). Tapes rock. Mind you, picking up Dat tapes or DCC tapes is rarer than rocking horse droppings. Keep up the great videos.

My best find in terms of blank tapes was a car boot sale where I found three TDK SA90s from the early eighties and a TDK MA-R unused in wrappers albeit heavily shredded. Fifty pence for the lot. I think I used all my tape luck for the year there as I've not found a single blank since.

Hi Tony! 🙂There's an other church tape brand, called ProGamma 2000, they also came with 92 minutes long tape, I don't know why churches liked that odd lenght. I bought a few of these tapes here in Hungary in a local online auction a few years ago. They're meh. Sounds OK, but there are some dropouts. This Kingdom tape is seemingly better.

    Very interesting.
I am from Northern Ireland and I used to go to a Baptist Church as a child.
They had the exact same white coloured tapes which they used to record their services.
I also remember even back in 2004 going to a Christian event and I bought one of the tapes of the services that were recorded and guess what, the exact same white tape. I’ve been listening to a few of your videos of late and they are very interesting and very good. I love audio equipment myself. I am a person who is legally blind therefore I enjoy listening to a lot of audio dialogue and I love your narration of describing things. Keep up the good work.

Nice! Many times I have researched Kingdom tapes but could never find much info. Looks like a Chinese-made shell & leader, although the black ones look identical to the end-of-line Quantegy AVX tapes (the bulk ones, not the boxes of 10).

  • @svenschwingel8632
    @svenschwingel8632 2 года назад +1

Those three blue arriws on the leader used to be indicative of Maxell tape. This might have UR tape in it.
Also, your Bias setting is rather inaccurate since the level meter's resolution is too coarse. I always find it useful to use a pink noise test tone recorded at ~ -20dB and then adjust the bias by ear between source and tape. It's the second best thing if your deck lacks internal calibration tones.
