- Remastered version of "Walking In Space" by Jennifer. The original Big Box/Sonopresse release was recorded from a 2nd generation master tape, and some significant tape drop-outs existed throughout the track, along with a general muddy sound. The re-issue of the album in 1978 on MFP in France was from the original master tapes - and that is what this version is recorded from. On top of that, the sound has been extensively remastered. Jennifer is an alias of Chantal Sitruk aka Chantal Curtis

I would love it if the complete lp or at least more of Jennifer's songs were available on YT. I have been looking for a recording of hers of "Love has a taste of tears" too... Thanks anyway a lot for the upload of this one. I also particularly appreciate all the pieces of information about the track, given throughout the comments : That's just terrific. 🥂 Cheers and ✌ out.
Love this song, such a happy vibe and a great vocals and overall dance groove sound, really enjoy this song!
I M A HUGE FAN OF THIS TRACK . FANTASTIC VOICE AND SUPERB MELODY .. ONE OF MY FAVE DISCOS
I would love to walk in space too with this blast of a song playing!
toute mon enfance!!
Thanks so much for the heads up on which version of the album to buy - I really like the way it is constructed. The guy who wrote and arranged the track, Ray Knehnetsky also wrote some of the Shake, Saturn EA1, Black Paul and Bang Bang Robot tracks and like this one, they all take a few listens to start appreciating his writing skills - all good late night/early morning tracks to drop - much appreciated.
+Paul Harvey You're welcome. Now, bear in mind, there is still a tape drop on the MFP release - that's on the original master. This was a low budget production, but the rest of the LP contains some real gold. I might put some up - why not, right? I'm familiar with Shake, but had no idea it was Knehnetsky - I'll have to send him an email (we've spoken a few times - I'm trying to put together a book on Eurodisco and the more obscure sounds that never made it to the club charts)... I'll check out the rest of those.

There's a mistake about Knehnetsky, I think : he's not Shake. I found that on Discogs :
Raymond Taras Knehnetsky
US keyboardist, conductor, arranger.
He moved to Paris, France in the early 1970’s where he enjoyed success writing, arranging, performing, and recording. Still active today (piano teacher in California).
Thanks for your good advice about this album, and thanks for sharing too...
I WILL BE BUYIN THIS BOOK IF IT COME OUT! Please cover Azoto!
Groovy!
Baia degli Angeli summer 1977....what else?!
I bought Jennifer album (MPF version) last week on a flea market. I really enjoyed this album, and specially this song.
But why do you think that Jennifer is an alias of Chantal Curtis ?
Their voices don't sound similar...
See my comment upthread regarding who the actual vocalist was.
thank you to confirm that it's poor Michel Deloir's voice. He was a really amazing artist.

this song provides me with the strength of three man killing chimpanzees
yay
Connais pas ! Pourtant ce sont mes belles années !
Its Chantal Benoist, after doing some online digging. Unless that Chantal Sitruk's voice has been sped up...?! Which I doubt, her voice is far superior to this.
Let me issue a correction here. From the horse's mouth, Knehnetsky... While I had been talking to him about this release, as it turns out there was another version of this - with Chantal Sitruk on the vocals, recorded in 1975. I got a clarification on who was on vocals on this recording here: Michel Deloir, the producer, with his voice sped up. The original is called "Chantal - Walking in Space" - you can find it on Discogs, and I've got a lower quality mp3 copy that Ray Knehnetsky sent me. (Not logged into the SyntaxDisco account at the moment)...
Everything which involves Chantal Curtis is swathed in mystery! Now you've given further information & listening again, it sounds like Chantals voice IS on the record, barely discernable, at the back of the mix, with the sped-up producers voice layered over, obviously up-front in the mix.
I would love to know WHY this happened? Did they fall out? Her voice was amazing, why over it up?!
One day, it would be nice to have a whole overview of the recordings she made. The known pieces of her life i've found online hint at a fascinating but troubled soul.
Thank-you Jerq!
theres a clip on youtube: Jennifer at Festivalbar 1977 where it sounds like the Chantal version upfront in the mix. Its being lipsynced by a lady surrounded by a crowd in a latin setting. I guess the producers sped up vocal would sound weird in this fashion, so they went for the more believable female vocal!
Mark, do me a favor and shoot me an email, I'll get the Chantal version to you.
got it! email on its way! :))
