- In this battle report we have Jody's incredibly painted Moria army going up against an Army of Thror list that I painted as a part of a commission. This game was super fun and had heaps of cinematic moments!

My friend, this is some of the best middle-earth sbg content on youtube, and the editing of the actual battle report is quite good, nice pacing, nice explaining the consequences of each option. Darn, i gotta start playing myself, so pumped!
Thanks mate! I love this game you gotta get into playing!
Jody's painting style is so cool! His miniatures have this paint stroke quality that makes them really unique, I saw it 1st last video with Mordor and was really impressed! Then a whole battle report and a new army to boot! Video's brilliant as always!
Just wait until you see his Easterling army, its his best work by far in my opinion! watch out for the army showcase of the whole Moria collection some time next week!
@@ConquestCreations I'm excited for it! Mate I can't wait. 😂
@@ConquestCreations awesome! Looking forward to that 🤙
@@ConquestCreations does he have a discord server
Cave troll: *exists*
Dwalin: Finally, a worthy opponent.
Dragon: *exists*
Thrain: Not this shit again
Wow, the quality of your battlereport is amazing. I love how you only roll the really important fights and tell us the results of the less important ones.
Thanks mate! There are more on the way like this one
That was great loving this channel lovely painting on both sides
Thank you very much!
Your goblin army have the most beautiful and originals figurines I ever seen ! 👍🏼
Great editing! Love those battle reports, good job =) Crazy painting aswell on both sides
Thanks mate, I am glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant work as always. Never ran a Cave drake before.....not sure I want to now haha
Great video as always my friend. After we hyped up the cave drake for ages it fluffed every roll! Nice game, sound quality is way better 👍
Hahahaha I know I was so worried about going up against it and then it was so easy to deal with this game
Great video thank's! Im thinking of getting into Middle-earth miniatures battle, but most reports just seems to be a big brawl in the middle of the board with both armies trying to push trough, not much maneuvering.
I see the importance of buffs and ranges there off, but that is more combo tactics.
I don't play the game so please explain how Im wrong.
Great question! I have played a lot of tabletop wargames and Middle Earth is by far the most tactical one out there which is why its my favourite
This video was a bit of a brawl in the middle and there are some game where that happens like this one. There is still a lot of subtle things going on in a big brawl like this one. Mainly my Heroes want to be fighting against the right targets at the right time. They are the ones that do the damage in my list so its important that if they are fighting a single goblin they spend there resources (might) to be able to maximise there damage. If they are fighting against a troll its really important that they have heroic strike (costs a point of might) to out fight the troll. The catch here is that the heroes have a finite amount of might so have to choose there moments to do this otherwise they run out very quickly. Moria in this case has the bat swarm which is able to lower my fight value (means that if we both roll a 6 I loose and the troll can hit my hero) so both of us are trying to manuver in the right ways to block what our enemy is doing. Another really important thing is this game is 'trapping' a model is trapped if it is surrounded and it means that if they loose the fight then there enemy makes double attacks. This increases the chance of killing very significantly so its really important to hold a line and formation. You may have seen that one turn I lost a key model and the next turn the goblins rushed in and surrounded many of my dwarves. This was really bad for me.
There are also a lot of Middle Earth battles where the manuvering is a lot more important. In other scenarios you get to place objectives to they are a lot more spread out. Some army lists win by manuvering away from their opponents while whittling them down with bow fire. Some times you can kill almost all your enemies but if you didn't keep the objective in mind you loose. Other times you have to secretly note down enemy heroes to kill which scores you points so you have to play mind games to get to them.
The more that I play Middle Earth the better I get at it and the more I enjoy it because even after playing competitively for 5 years there are still tactics that people use that I haven't seen before. I encourage you to get into it!
@@ConquestCreations Thank you for the thorough answer!
I will keep watching reports and faction videos, and maybe start up a small force in a near future. Cheers!
Really enjoyed the game. I like the way you passed the small fights and just concentrated on the important ones, made it very watchable. I have been playing for years, but mainly solo so I hope to be able to pick up the finer points. I have always found with grimhammers against goblins that they struggle to win a fight, goblins often get two rolls with a spearmen backing up and the grimhammers get one with a -1 for double handed waepons. Even with tough defense the goblins still have two rolls for a 6.
Thanks for the comment! I will be sticking to this format there are heaps more videos on the way. The next one is Isengard vs Easterlings.
Grimhammers are one of my picks for the best troops in the game! With Grimhammers you can choose whether or not you use two hands or fight normally with one hand. I usually go one handed so that I dont have that -1. Also I try to always have them in range of a banner so that they can re roll if they loose which effectively gives them two dice to roll.
The key difference is that I can kill a goblin on a 4 or 5 and they will only kill me on a 6. In a one on one fight I will kill them more than twice as much as they kill me and the odds are still heavily in my favor in a two on one fight. Plus Grimhammers get throwing weapons so they sometimes get kills when they charge. The good thing about goblins is that thier roll is to die slowly. Its almost as easy for a cave troll to kill my 12 point grimhammers as it is for it to kill 6 point orcs so its a great match up for the cave trolls. I think Jordy would have been better off tying up my heroes with his goblins while his trolls ripped through the grimhammers for a few turns
@@ConquestCreations If a guy has a 2 handed weapon I always use it two handed. Even though it is very frustrating I just can't have a grim hammer not swinging his hammer. 99% of my games are solo so it is all part of the fun for me.
Would be cool to see a Moria or deep cavern board for these dwarf and orc/goblin match ups.
I think u forgot about the Terror rule for marauders there ;) great video was a pleasure to watch!
Bummer you are totally correct!
Best video yet, thanks for fixing the audio!
Thanks mate! I'm working hard on these videos, I'm glad they they are getting better
Just found your channel and subscribed. I love your paint jobs, so striking. The drum in this video is awesome! I like the way the videos are edited too, awesome job guys.
Thanks mate, there are plenty more of these videos on the way
my god that moria army is gorgeous.
is there a tutorial video on how to paint it like that?
i am quite a noob and looking for a way to make my moria army not look so standard you know?
this one looks so original
or could u tell me which colours these are exactly?
love the pink/turqouise scheme
I'm loving your content! Mind if I ask how the bases were done for the army of Thror?
Lovely bat rep - had a question though - I was expecting the Cave Drake to use it's unique Brutal Power attack against Thrain and swallow him whole! Did you guys forget that or is it a tricky mechanic to pull off? Again, I second all the comments below and always enjoy your content!
Thanks for he comment. Its a tricky on to pull off because its only one hit Thrain only has to pass one fate to survive and cancel the whole attack so its better for the drake to just attack him normally and potentially do more wounds
@@ConquestCreations that's what I figured, I was excited to see it swallow Thrain whole but I understand why he attacked normally!
Really nice paintjobs on both sides 😍
Would you ever consider allying in some Iron Hills or Dale for cavalry and/or shooting support?
I love the look of the Dwarves. The silver and red complement each other really well.
I wish I could get my metal armour to turn out that well.
You totally can get your armour to turn out like this! I primed them in a bright silver, picked out the gold areas, washed them twice with Nuln Oil and then highlighted everything with bright silver. Its not to hard
Thanks for the reply and tips!
I'm glad to see a good channel with lots of SBG content
Great battle report again lads
Boys!!! So glad to see you comment. I love the middle earth content
Really enjoyed it was just really nice in all aspects
Thanks mate I appreciate the feed back, this is the format that I am going to go for with all my battle reports now!
Thx for that guy’s. Very very good battle report. I love the fact that you only see the results of the small battles. Good format.
What do you use to varnish your models to protect them from paint chipping?
The dice rolls for Moria were horrible! So unlucky!
The dice certainly were on the side of the dwarves today
awesome armys! mesbg content is always good!
Thanks mate!
really nice bases! how did he made those Goblin bases?
Love the erebor models wish they were a little more cost friendly thou haha
These ones aren't actually to bad. Only the Heroes are fine cast and the rest are a similar cost o any of the other plastics.
@@ConquestCreations well I mean the heroes, especially the erebor reclaimed ones 😞
Where can I get those bases? I don’t see them on your web store
Would love to see the Moria army list.
I've added it into the description of the video (although I might have gotten some of the wargear and warbands mixed around)
I don't know the warg's units. What are these "maraudeurs"? Did you make a conversion? What are their stats?
These models are conversions that Jordy did. You can find the rules for Warg Marauders in the Armies of Lord of the Rings in the Moria sections. They are effectively a normal cavalry model but they have 3 models riding them. This means that they get 3 attacks and the cavalry charge bonus which is lethal! They are pretty expensive at 30 points but I think they are really powerful
Great thematic fight!
Don’t suppose you have a paint scheme for the goblins?
Really well done video! Just the essentials left in. Shame about the dice. You hate to see it with monsters.
It was a bummer, the more even the dice roll the better the game
Damn, the Dice were with the Dwarves
8:30 are you allowed to call heorics when knocked down or was it when you are paralysed? 😊🙊
Thanks for the comment, You can call heroics while you are knocked down but not while you are paralysed
Do u sell These Models or Figures they are nice lookin
The miniatures are from Games Workshop and they are painted by myself and Jordy. I offer a painting service
great painting skills
Many many thanks
Great bat rep
I don't understand your bases. Why do they look like that?
Why are there blue and orange lines?
They are the Green marble inside of erebor. They are green with gold lines
@@ConquestCreations Was this made for a specific map?
My friend, they look dreadful on a normal grass map.
Very ugly imo.
Why does Erebor have green and gold lines?
Is this some sort of art that is found in that part of middle earth?
That's really interesting everyone else has really liked the bases you are the first person who hasn't understood what they are.
If you watch the Hobbit Erebor is green marble with threads of gold running through it
@@ConquestCreations Thanks for reply. I didn't quite take to the Hobit the same way I did with The LTR films. Though ill watch them again soon.
Na, not a fan. Looks like squiggles the biscuit.
I googled Erebor and I don't see any bright squiggling lines under anyone's feet or anywhere for that matter. Is this supposed to be some sort of magic light?
please do mirkwood vs ors vs dwarfs
are those bases from your store?
The bases that the dwarves are on are! You can find them here: www.conquestcreations.net/shop
Why did I read that as Thor ?
I Love lord of the rings
