She was in bad shape and you are right, she most likely somehow survived since she was kitten. So sad that she lost the three kittens, I guess she was so ill and they were born ill except for one & if she brought you her kitten it's to show you trust and love. She is lucky and healthier and even has been able to keep her baby because of you. I love happy endings!
