He wasn't "mean" in the shelter, he was terrified! Poor thing. You are good people, to rescue him and give him a home.
Exactly.
Thank you for rescuing him🙏🙏❤️
Absolutely true. Period. Dot. The End. 🩷
He probably had a bad experience with women and reacted accordingly. He reacted positively to her husband.
@@georgestauber2636 For sure. Animals remember the sex of their "abuser". Dogs aren't cats but we adopted a female dog and very quickly bonded with mom. We're pretty sure a male treated her badly.
Mean? No. He was traumatized. Once he got out of the shelter, he was fine.
You gave him that chance. He appreciates it.
yes humans are mean not animals
only reason why animals or humans are mean, is because lack of love / joy. i'd be traumatized in a shelter aswell .. it's like a prison or slave camp, who wouldn't feel traumatized there?
@@SethiozProject yes you are rite. i know whats its like to feel mistreated
spot on...we rescued a feral cat we had seen down with our horses every day for 15 months and he would hiss and snarl like a mini tiger but we managed to catch him when he got badly injured and after months of feeling secure at home he is the biggest cuddliest baby, so glad to see yours is happy in his forever home with a family that loves and cares
Exactly. The shelter isn't a good environment for any animal with the constant noise and stress. Anyone would be mean in such a stressed out place, trying to protect themselves from perceived danger. If only every shelter could be this several-acre sanctuary with comfortable, quiet space for every resident.
He was waiting for you guys. He's a pure innocent soul and he knows who he loves.
His first previous owner was highly a man. He grew up with one an found more confort as he is male as well. This also happens vice versa. Most likely, the staff was all female/dominant an wasn't trustworthy from hus passesd experiences woth woemn. Moslty likely female mistreated him. That's why the cat cuddled up in no time to the man real quick. Contrary to his typical experiences.
@@Mech-730and at those animal shelters you have to really love pets because if you don’t they’ll know(the pets) so they won’t let anyone get close.
He wasn't mean. He was scared and the fact that he leaves you to sleep in the middle of the floor(in the open and most vulnerable) speaks volumes on his level of comfortability in your home. You guys are awesome
Maybe an element of being able to see in all directions makes him feel safer there ... still some insecurity from his life on the streets. My Squeaky was very insecure when I got her, and still likes to sleep (on my duvet) in sight of the door possibly so she is more aware of anything/one coming in.
yeah, there’s still something there with his sleeping pattern if he only feels safe sleeping completely away from everything.
Thats the last piece of the puzzle imo until he can put it all in the past.
Such a beautiful story. I just love seeing his transformation, and the bonds he made with this couple.
Him sleeping in the middle of the floor means he's claimed basically the entire house as his territory and feels comfortable it's secure. He probably thinks he's protecting the two of you by being so out in the open. This is basically the highest appreciation and love a cat can give people other than the more obvious cuddling. My cat, while a cuddle bug who loves me, likes to deep sleep in seclusion but will run to me for comfort when something frightens her because she knows I'll protect her. Your cat decided on the "F around and find out" model.
My latest rescue does the same. Sleeps at my bedroom door with nothing comfy
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️
Yes, he is guarding on alert. Those are his hoomans.❤
King of the castle
He's a knight now
This is actually the norm. Frightened animals are just that, frightened. They let their guard down when they feel safe.
What is so interesting is that some people (or some cat-person combinations) just exude that calmness that puts everyone (not just the cat) at ease. Even when stressed out in a shelter, this cat bonded.
Really important nugget you just said: behavior CHANGES when animals (or people) are locked up. Aggressiveness, trauma, all of it. It's NOT normal. You can't risk everything with a crazed shelter animal, but honestly I think a lot of sort of sketch animals in the shelter probably do fine when allowed to decompress and adjust back to safe environment
He is sleeping downstairs- in the open- to guard you guys while You sleep. I had a cat that did that.
Yep, I was thinking exactly the same thing! He's protecting his family and his home ❤
You're both right and I suspect that cat is a reincarnation of a dog
Yup.
I’ve heard that when cats sleep out in the open the way your cat does. It means that they are confident and secure in the place where they are and they want everyone to know it. He is staking his territory and he is declaring that you are his hoomans.
My first Labrador would always lay between me and the door… at our house, my mom’s house… hanging with friends… protective instinct.
Congrats on the cute n cuddly little kitty!
Very heartwarming. Thank you for your kindness and rescuing this cat.
As many others have said, your little Jax loves you so much and just wants to protect you, that’s why he sleeps in the middle of the floor.
Bless you all, thank you for taking a chance on Jax & giving him his forever home ☺️🥹
That's an interesting take. Had not considered that - could be!
In years of volunteering at shelters, cats that are labeled _mean_ or _aggressive_ are nothing more than scared witless.
These poor cats were "unadoptable" and the first to be put down. No one took the time and TLC they desperately needed.
TY ❣❣❣❣❣❣ to Cat Mom and Cat Dad for giving Jax the chance to shine 💞💕💗
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️
I saved the most vicious cat you ever could imagine. Once in a loving home the cat is a love monster. Unbelievable ❤
Your community needs to advocate for no kill shelters. Many locals have done that.😊😊😊
@@wiseup8729 - totally believable ❣😻❣
@@officemanager8624 - This was a while ago. NKs have come a long way. I was involved in the first NK shelter in this area. Now we have quite a few. I don't like county shelters, but I have adopted from some because those cats are on borrowed time. Kill shelters will ALWAYS be here until EVERYONE spays/neuters their cats/dogs. Going to a kill shelter saves two lives - the adopted and if they're lucky, the cat/dog replacing their space. Please don't ignore them.
My last girlfriend, the first time I went to her apartment, she said her cat was mean. The cat immediately curled up on my lap and went to sleep while we watched a movie. Ten years later, I still have the cat and the ex-girlfriend got rehomed.
You have a good heart, a generous soul, & a sound mind. You are going to make some lucky woman a great husband some day. And when you have kids they will be getting a great father & role model as well.
Our pet friends know good people
😂😂😂😂
You sir, are my hero 😊. A girlfriend once crocheted a cat picture for me with the title “Love Me, Love My Cat”, she even personalized it to look like my Siamese baby. And yes, I once sent a girl packing because he didn’t like her. Seriously, the first time she came to my place he sat under a chair in the next room and just stared at her. A year or so later when talking to a female friend somehow this girls name came up. My friends response was “OH…….her”. She took a breath and then told me that her fiancé had once dated this girl and she “scarred him for life”. 😮. Another female friend related her dislike for this girl some 15 years later after I related this story. My cat really saved my ass, my animals will always come first.
I think some cats prefer males…😂❤
The cat has chosen him. That's why cats are such gifts.
The cat is “protecting” you and his home. That is probably why he sleeps downstairs. all the best from Scotland. Rab
Doesn’t sound like “that’s why” anything, just a couple of feelgood sentences you like slapped together
@@JTD472 Lolol! 🤣
My first thought is that the cat, having lived on the streets, is doing what is familiar. I frequently see feral cats in my neighborhood sleeping on sidewalks, atop transformer boxes, etc. So, that is why I'm guessing it is just the closest to what the cat is used to.
Thank heaven for this beautiful meeting of hearts, and just in time🥰
How absolutely lovely! So glad he has such a beautiful home with his people :))
He sleeps in the middle of the floor because he wants to keep an eye on things and protect his family.
Yup, we had a cat that would sleep facing the outside window on the top floor.
Your comment brought me to tears. He’s so grateful to have a family that loves and accepts him that he’s sacrificing his comfort to protect them during their most vulnerable time. Heartwarming!
Exactly
My cat always sleeps at my feet.
Once you win over a cat's trust, they're friends for life
Hearing a cat purr always makes me smile. Thank you so much for adopting.
Cats choose their person and their aptitude to sense what kind of person you truly are never ceases to amaze me. So if you've ever had the privilege of being chosen: congratulations on being a beautiful soul.
Bless you for saving this little man’s life!
Maybe this cat just understands you can't trust (most) people.
cat sleeps in the middle of the floor because he is being a good guardian kittah
too cute, i'm glad he finally found his soulmate.
Thank you for saving his life. You are angels.
Beautiful! Thank you so much for loving this little one.
Cats can create a mean look out of total fear...I saw this with my friend's cat and myself after I moved in. Within 5 days the cat changed totally and I found his real personality. I was actually afraid of him at first which I had never been in my life. Taught me a good lesson. Imagine how scary a shelter would be if you were put in one suddenly.
There are all those smells and sounds of other animals in the shelter, too.
What a lucky cat! He has obviously found his person, and his home for the rest of his life. Be happy, Jax!
Just like dad was not a cat person until he met Jax, Jax was not a people cat until he met dad. ❤
ANOTHER HAPPY STORY FOR LOVING PEOPLE HWO CARES ABOUT HOMELESS ANIMALS !
GOD BLESS YOU !
To call stray cat saved from street "mean", is the definition of mean. Those cats are so grateful and loving, they can be unhappy and scared, that's all...
Jax! What a gorgeous boi. Jax is a gentle soul, just traumatized from several factors. Grateful he is permanently with you and your rockstar husband. Love is all that matters. 💕
His sleeping habits echo that of a great full, loved animal that want to make sure that his humans remain safe when they are most vulnerable...when sleeping. His extreme basic "bed" keeps him from deep slumber but allows alert sleep. He's protecting you. 🙂🙂
I also thought this. He's downstairs able to guard the house while his humans sleep safely upstairs. Gotta take care of the people who take care of him. 😻
that would explain our cats behaviour too, during the day he sleeps only on soft stuff. but during the night. its in the middle of room, on the floor where he can see the whole appartment.
:05 that little eye blink indicated to me that he had a sweet heart inside. He just needed security. So happy you found each other 😊
May God bless you both for saving her and giving her a beautiful home and love 💖💖💖
What a beautiful cat thank you for rescuing him and giving him all the love he deserves. He was probably just scared at the shelter, goodness knows what he experienced on the street 😢
Your husband is the luckiest man on the face of this Earth.
I think its all about the environment. He knows he is home now where he is loved and appreciated and he can give free rein to all the affection and connection and he won't put anyone off by sharing that.
I imagine the shelter staff were delighted too. They'd rather see an animal go to a loving home than released back to the streets where anything could and probably would eventually happen to him.🥰
God bless you and your husband for giving him a good home.
Makes me shake my head with disbelief when shelter workers do not know the difference between aggression and fear...most of them are often full of “advice” to tell
you what to do yet... As a volunteer, I have been severely burned...
I wish every animal had a life like this. Thanks for adopting him. He’s like all of us, he just needed some love. 💕
Thanks for adopting this beautiful adorable kitten who was scared .He seems happy and content in your loving home and with Dad. Love my cutie pie.💕💕💕💕💙💙💙💙💙😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺😺
He's gorgeous! What a sweetie cat with his lovely purr.
It is so true that kittens or cats chose their owners/family. Jax is just precious! 😻
He chose his man human, then got a darn good home! You are a wonderful, kind & caring couple💕
Thank you so much for giving him the best home! He is beautiful and so are all of you!
You saved that little cat from certain trouble. He pays you back with unconditional love
The way you worried about the heat wave warmed my heart. It reminds me of the mother cat, who didn't hesitate for a second to keep her babies safe in the crate.💌
He was awaiting only you! May GOD continue bless you all, forever together.
That lil meow found his person ❤
🍃It sounds like the staff at that shelter needs animal trauma training to recognize the symptoms, my gosh little Jax was in fear. I so glad the two of you found him in time. 😊🍃
Another awesome cat story. He was probably so stressed before you brought him home. Favoring one person happened with my sister and her husband. They took in an indoor/ outdoor cat when the neighbor moved on the premise it would be indoor only. The cat loved her husband and wanted nothing to do with my sister. I think he resembled the man in the previous household. No doubt cats have many more prerogatives than people do 😂.
Your husband is a kind and loving soul. The kind that this cat needed. Your husband is what it means to be a great person. Love to your family ❤
He just needed love! I'm thrilled that he has this, and most likely has found his forever home!!!!!!!!!
Blessings to this beautiful couple for saving and loving this handsome little man!
The cat I have now, who I have had for the last 16 years, also likes to sleep by herself. I get the feeling that she loves her whole other "night world" that's all hers. She patrols and keeps guard, and and plays with her toys by herself, which she clearly likes to do. I get up in the morning and find toys in different places than they were the day before. They are all so different, I love that about them.
So adorable! You need one of those baby sling carriers for mobile, constant connection.
Yay'! A happy ending!! Bless you for giving this kitty a good home.
My sister adopted a feral cat who the shelter said was too nice to be released back to the streets!
thanks a LOT for saving and taking care of this cat PERIOD and to be COMPLETELY honest i'll PROBABLY PERMANENTLY SOMEWHAT like cats
Never heard of a shelter that would call a cat "mean" and release it back to the streets?! Jax is adorable, and I love that he chose your hubby.💕🐾🐈⬛
Yes, we adopted our feral cat from a shelter and they had to wear heavy gloves because he would scratch them to bits. But they never considered putting him out in the streets. He was fine with us as long as we respected his boundaries. LOL
♥ Thank you for adopting him. He is a gem. You both are gems.
Thank you for your generosity. Reminds me of a cat my daughter rescued, Patty, who was so mean to everyone who tried to adopt her. She took to me right away after a tough week or so hiding under the bed.....
CDS decided he needed a cat. So they gave him one. 😺😺

Animals aren't mean, people are mean. Thank you for giving him a good home!
watch any impala video in africa and what other animals do to them and to each other
@user-rb3tk5th2i you mean, hunting? Feeding themselves?... Humans have no need to kill each other, nor other animals, but we do. Very very few times do we eat the humans we kill. At its lowest level, that's mean.
Once again love conquers all.
So many pets are overlooked at the shelters because they’re perceived as mean or withdrawn when they would be completely different when provided with a loving home. I hope every shelter animal gets a chance to find a forever home.
yes just a very MEAN purr on him......thankyou
So Precious! Yes.. cats choose their people..
This sweet cat wasn’t mean…he was scared. Thank-you for loving him ❤
Just another voice of not mean but very scared and stressed out. Cat shelters for a little guy like him can be a very scary and chaotic place. And some cats are just loners aka don't get along with other cats. So good that this couple decided - sorry the couple chosen by Jax, took him home.
The personality shines through and keeps viewers coming back.
My husband didn't think he was a cat person until we got our first cat. Most people who don't think they like cats have never had one.
What type of “shelter” would put a cat back onto the streets due to perceived meanness? I’d love to know the state.
I enjoy this video very much then. I loved this video very much then.
So sweet I am happy he is in a good home. He is so beautiful too.
He was just scared. Poor baby. Glad he got an awesome home!
My Calico cat has a broken tail. She showed up in my yard one day and i never let her leave after that. Cats are a blessing ❤
What A Good Boy!! Outstanding Guys! Congratulations
I agree with all who know this poor little angel wasn't mean but was scared to death and absolutely terrified. God Bless the shelter workers for what they do. But why people who i think should know better label these cats as mean and or antisocial is so wrong. Funny, I myself was labeled non compliant and problematic when i was hospitalized and terrified and sick as a dog..pun intended!
ah! cats are the most precious softest sweet babies. protect them. this is so beautiful
So perfect this kitty and the guy found each other. The Cat Distribution System at work. Both are happy, which makes me happy. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so tired of misunderstood cats being labeled as "mean". And they were ready release him back into the streets because of it? Sounds like a real shitty "shelter".
Not a proper shelter.
At least they weren't going to kill him. Not sure, but I think "release into the streets" means as part of a colony that will be fed and watered. If not, it's horrible.
What a lovely little cat, my cat died a couple of years ago still miss him, can’t get another cat just won’t be the same , but you’ve got a good one there. Well done to you both for taking him home..
Just goes to show a cat isn’t mean, it just needs to be around the right humans. Thank you for adopting the cat 💜
I am happy for the husband, good heart,he has a new friend now.
He loves him. Look at that cute baby!
It's great to see cats finding themselves with the right people.
If only all unwanted animals could have a happy ending like this ❤
He's got a loud motorboat!!!
Cats are angels. They just want love.
What a great video! I think I’ve watched it three times! It’s so sweet. Cats do choose their families.
He was "mean" because he was scared and probably is the kind of cat that doesn't want to be with other cats. He has chosen your husband and it is a good thing that he is the only cat in your home. Hopefully, he will be able to accept other cats in the future. But if not, he needs his space. Cats are not like dogs and we need to respect their behavior the way we do dogs.
Jack needed your husband and your husband needed Jack.
How sweet are they together and I’m glad Jack has found his forever home.
Omg thank you for taking in the fur baby. So glad!!!
Poor kitters💝! He wasn't mean, he was just scared to death. So glad this munchkin' found a good home
So glad Jax and Marcus found each other!
Great story, beautiful cat. Thank you for giving him a chance. SO glad it worked out. he also wins major bonus points....I have the same name 👍🏻🐈
Excellent and heartwarming Cat story. I loved it.
