Nice lesson!! Great that everyone is seemingly suddenly becoming aware of Barry’s methods. Robbie Barnby did a great video on this very subject as well. Thanks
I’ve seen this kind of content covered for piano a few times lately, and I have been trying to figure it out for guitar. You just put it all together for me. Fantastic, thank you!
Go see « things i’ve learned from barry harris » and « labyrinth of limitations » chanels
me too and i'm sure more is learned figuring it out for oneself from the piano... Seems Allan Holdsworth was doing exactly that as a teen in his bedroom in 1967...
Hip vid. What do you think Wes' 'working' voicings were...? There's surely no way he used eg the full drop-2 min-6 with root on A string at up-tempos..? maybe he did... I'll have to go and study the vids... nice content - subscribed...
Thanks ! This is very interesting, I understand the concept and its application in the first oart of the video, but honestly from 8:0 I don't catch anything (the sound is fine) and what is written doesn't help me.
What are you doing there ?
I was also hearing that familiar sound in Wes’s playing - thanks so much for an awesome lesson Richie ! 🎶🎸✨
Thanks!
Such a comprehensive explanation! Thanks Richie.
Awesome lesson! This fits into my current study of comping over minor 6 and minor 2-5 cadences and harmonizing melody lines. Thank you!
Great lesson!!
Nothing new as far as other tutorials on same topic with the BLARING EXception that you explained the topics an how to apply it leagues better than every other tutorial I’ve seen an I’ve seen a lot of em :)
Thanks an keep up the great work
Thanks, much appreciated 🙏
This is the 3rd video I've watched on this topic, but the first time I understood it. You're explanation is very clear and concise. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great stuff Richie , Bless ya.
I guess you are the most sympathic guitar teacher on RUclips. And btw... great content of course.
Thanks 🙂

Looking for the pdf file. The "...more" button did not work for me. I appreciate this lesson very much but could use the pdf file to lock it in. Thank you. Jerry. London, Canada.
RIP Barry Harris.
Fantastic lesson Richie! Full of great information and uncovering important jazz “secrets”. Love it!!
Thanks Enrique!
Thank you much! Very informative, and enjoyable!
you can simply play inversions of the chord in question and fill in the chord tones with a fully diminished chord, if the object is to play a "harmonized" scale.
Love it
Richie, excellent presentation on this one for sure. Perfect from scratch approach to learning this system.
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful, Richie, hope you are well God bless ❤️
Thanks Brad!
Great video , thanks.
Awesome 👌 👏. This is one of the most informative lessons on chord melody.l will try building my on chord melodies based on this theory 🙏
Thank Ritchie.
Nice lesson. Took me 20 tries to find a video to understand how to use it musically and you nailed it. Bravo!
Glad it was helpful!
I would love to purchase the PDF but your website is confusing. I can't find any 'button' that allows for purchase.
go to jazzguitar.richiezellon.com/premium
and please read the instructions at the top of the page.
After watching this for at least the third time, I have gleamed some wonderful insights from it. Thanks for the lesson and for explaining the relationship between the melody and the 6th diminished scales!
You're very welcome, glad it was helpful!
Very cool rendition of Ode to Joy
Where is Wes chord solo?
This isn't a lesson about a specific Wes solo. It's about how to use the 6th an dim chords as stated. There is a huge list of solos by Wes using this concept at the beginning.
This is a goldmine! Thanks
Thanks Johnny!
Superb guidance here!
Thanks, Richie👍🏼
Thank You:)
Great lesson!
