I have been playing guitar for 35 years. All styles. A year and a half ago I found Chris’s channel and he changed my playing forever. His approach to teaching content connected so many dots that I had heard in my head but didn’t have under my fingers. My two favorite Chanel’s hounded forces. ❤️.

Once again beautiful ideas coming from Barry Harris concepts presented beautifully by Mister TILFBH, Chris Parks. Barry Harris ideas so broad, they open up possibilities for creativity and ability to actually play any kind of music. I am really delighted to know and see that Chris has become a part of this great platform, Open Studio Jazz Network which growth I have witnessed pleasantly. Adam and guys, - you do an amazing job ✨ TILFBH got to a new level here with all that great post production and representation. Kudos and keep going 💪🎹 🎸🎺🎷🥁 🎼 📽

  • @TheRealSandleford

Thank you, I get quite a bit applying these ideas. I learn tunes but I forget them quick. Lately finding it nice to just write out the intervals and think it would go along with Barry teaching. To simplify to promote the creative process. So what I started doing to write out is a format like 1/M 1/m or 1/7 for the chords. About all you need, could do 1/6 or 1/M7 but not sure necessary. Great how Barry simplifies so you dont have to go all crazy with b9#5 and the like and just stick to 6 chords pretty much. So if you are going to go through all the 12 keys and be able to play like 10 standards and not forget them its probably not a bad idea. I did not notice the title of this! Hilarious, The 15 notes you need to know....

The thirds thing is also cool to drop a 4th raise a 3rd and down a 2nd when you get to the 3rd. Then you are on the note you started before going to the next 3rd. Also the next 3rd will be on the next beat

This is a great video. I am definetely a seasoned player with theory up to dominant 2nds, Harmonic minor, melodic minor, and play a 3rd above the chord for deeper harmony, but I couldn't quite grasp how to get this kind of styled sound. I may think too logically into diatonic chord flows. This sound didn't make sense to me so this may finally be a logical basis into what seemed illogical if that makes sense. May post an improv vid here using this if this works out well. Thank you!!!
