The way you backed up in that tight spot and put the wheel lifts right where you wanted them, someone might thing you are a pro. There are so many doubters when the space is tight. I always say, if I missed all the obstacles, the space was not too tight. If you can't open the tool box doors, that is getting tight. Great driving.
been watching for awhile now. had to be towed twice after getting hit both times by persons with no insurance, no license, prior history of DUI. getting out of the way for police, ambulance or tow trucks with lights coming down the road or on the side of the road is very important. traveling back and from Illinois to Tennessee i often see many who do not get over and out of the way. Thank you for your and your teams service to helping keep our roads safe.
Ron is a Brazilian living in California, I'm working with tow truck although I have already worked in Brazil here I am learning a lot with your videos, congratulations and thank you !!
You should show some of your shop work. I love watching what you do with the tator too. An awesome machine for sure. Keep up the good work and keep the faith brother. God Bless you all.
I keep watching some of the other towing conpany video's and comparing to yours. Ron i have to say, I'm very impressed with your truck. You have the best looking and most versatile and very well equipped wrecker I've seen. Awesome. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for All the Hard work you put into all the videos.
Hey Ron, I am retired from a public utility in Nashville. One cold day back in the late 80's I grabbed the underground service van that has a high wattage heating unit for the manhole crews. Stuck it into the air cleaner and the extra heat allowed the truck to start. I had 10 trucks that would not start that morning, saved the day.
Ron, my brother, as I sit in the relative comfort of my home in frigid Midlothian Texas, I’ve gotta tell you that this video makes me remember exactly why I got out of the oil field. Zero F is too cold for these 62 year old bones. Take care, God bless and keep making these videos for arm chair tow truck drivers to enjoy.
Another win for Ron Pratt. I do like to watch you work Ron. Not much aggravates me more than incompetent people so of course I'm pretty happy when I see someone who always does it right. I've seen heavy tow operators on TV here that make me wonder how they got their job when they make fools of themselves so often. When you were pulling in behind that tractor I was thinking more light would be a good thing. I know you have lots of lights but in the dark there's no such thing as too much. I remember one cab over I drove when I was hauling fuel had aircraft landing lights because I unloaded at the back of the truck stop into the key lock tanks which were near the runway that would land a 747. There were often bears back there so lots of light could be a life saver. Of course you can't use them on the road but in your line of work I think they'd be a good thing. Take care and stay safe Ron.
Ron, I think a Tow cam on the light bar would be an amazing addition for when you are towing stuff, have the camera face backwards so we can see what happens when you back up or when you go through traffic! Love the video like always!
Just drinking my morning coffee, with a cool breeze coming through the house keeping it at 22 deg. Watching your video made me kind of happy I'd got away from the cold and moved to Vietnam. It will warm up during the day to shorts and T shirt weather. Man just watching your vid made me feel cold.
I'm glad you made the right move for you. I'm still stuck in the cold. LOL. Actually I like the cold better than the heat. It really drags me down. We get to experience Spring, Summer and Winter here in MO all in one week!! God bless and thanks for watching.
Every now and then it gets cold here in Texas. This video reminded me of a freeze we had in 1989. I'm a car guy and yet a friend of mine who is a railroader, called me and asked why his GM F3 diesel train wouldn't start. I said check the fuel. He said it looked like Jello. That might be the problem I said.
Hello Ron I have watched about 20 of ur vids now and I got to say is u r freaking awesome ur fast, smart about safety smart with ur surroundings and u NEVER lose ur cool please dont stop making these vids u r unbelievable to watch thanks for ur time
I've been following this channel for about 8 months and I don't know anything about towing, but watching you and your crew is a thing of beauty. Ron, you are the most knowledgeable, professional and confident person that I have ever come across in my 66 years on this great earth. Question: Do you have a PhD in towing (smile)? If not you should! Be safe my friend and Happy New Year to you and yours.
I came to Ron's channel looking for good ways to get aluminum bodied 1000 cu ft cement tankers unstuck. We go to a lot of oil fields to spread for their pads. We have a lot of newer drivers (and even us seasoned ones) who get buried in soft ground. Our newer drivers are damaging their trailers because they don't know where to hook up...neither do the equipment operators who try to pull them out. I've been learning even more than I bargained for.
My new favorite tow channel. I used to be a REPONUT watcher, but, watched all his videos and he isn't doing anymore. Love the camera angles, as it's familiar to REPONUT's. You do great work, always thinking ahead, and are a good man Ron. Keep up the good work and great videos!
I am always looking forward to the video. It is easy to understand in English, it also helps studying conversation. ron's job is accurate and fast. I am pleasantly watching. In addition, I can not forget the attention to the surroundings at all, I am surprised that it is dealt with carefully. It is a sight that can not be seen rarely in Japan now. I would like to go see the actual someday.
伊藤邦剛, That is very interesting that you use these videos to help you understand English. I feel that here in the USA English is changed slightly and could be called the American language. I think it is the same in Australia. I expect that some folks will disagree with me. Cheers!
Your English is excellent! And your choice of RUclips channels to watch is equally good - Ron is a true gentleman, a consummate professional, and a credit to us all. Best wishes from the UK
Thank you very much to all for such positive comments!!! I cannot for the life of me believe that MY English is good LOL. My wife chuckled at that one. She said "Oh no, someone is using Southeast Missouri twang as an example of English?" Thanks to all for watching and God bless.
Ron - Why is it that most people with a Southern accent, are some of the most kindest, courteous, polite people in America today? You rarely hear people call each other "sir" or "ma'am" anymore, unless you're getting pulled over by a cop. I notice you also support the 2nd Amendment. It's interesting that Asians (like myself), share a lot of the same Conservative values - God, Country, Family. Today, it's nothing but, "ME,ME,ME".
The music at the beginning of the video was a nice touch Ron, I am usually listening to the bible while watching your show, but since I had already done that I listened while you had it on fast forward; and like I said, nice touch!
wow watching u sure brings back the fun it was when i drove a flat bed sure wish i could go back to it one day what a great guy u are ! would like working for u !!! are u hiring lol to cold back there for me!!! u take me back to the good old days!!! of towing an recovering of cars an trucks i did for 4 years till they went under an layed me off!!! great videos !!!!
I appreciate you educating as you go along with your job Ron Pratt you sir, are AWESOME! Continue to educate us as you go!!! It's greatly helpful for us to understand what it is that you are doing!
I am a service advisor at a Chevrolet dealership in New Hampshire. DEF will start to freeze at 12F according to what GM says. There is no additive or winter blend for it, to prevent freezing. Even though Zero on the Thermometer is not unusual, even here in Southern NH, We had over 2 weeks of below average tempatures, even here.
Hey Ron love your videos drove it flatbed or rollback for 12 years love the way you do your stuff and I've noticed it back you said some people don't pay attention and don't classify trucks as emergency vehicles love you still love your videos keep up the good work
-17c or 0 f is very cold Ron there ,thankfully here in Maffra Victoria Australia, we are in the middle of summer and now it is 15c [cool] tomorrow it is going to be about 25c [ 77 f ] and 35c [ 95 f ] on Friday , love the warmth Ron, I have really bad Arthritis in my ankles.
The only one place you can live at and not having to experience the cold like that is living in Hawaii. I like the colder weather over the heat anytime but to cold is to cold. Makes it hard even for your body to move and work out in it. Enjoy your videos, always have. Thank you for another job well done. Be safe out there, God Bless You. HAPPY NEW YEARS
Ron, we can use you and your trucks here in the " Warm" Washington state! Love your videos. I especially like the "big" truck". Bless you and all the people that work with you. Althea
"I hate the cold" Amen to that. I've never been happier to go to Miami! We got there before the storm, but didn't beat it back. I-95 from South of Savannah to I-26 was a complete nightmare. We hopped west a bit to US301 to get around it -- just a few miles west was like nothing happened. Once we got back to 95, there was a truck and trailer on it's side in the median. A few miles north was a rig completely backwards in the median -- that had to be an interesting ride... luckily, he didn't hit anything; driving north and the next minute you're in the median aimed perfectly south. Not far from that was the remains of a trailer on the SB side out in the trees. Nothing left but sheet metal and insulation.
Never a truer sentence written, probably by a man whose had some rough tasting char at the start of a job only for it to be ambrosia of the gods when your putting away your equipment to go home to heat and a cuddle from the wife Hello Jim From the UK. Darren
Great pickup in the elements of Mother Nature. The DEF Fluid is like 99% water. It freezes very easily if not bouncing down the highway. I've had to put a special anti freeze in my tank, & it still froze. Sitting out in the cold winter air, I'm surprised you didn't have to bust the brakes loose. Stay warm Ron, it's cold up here in WI too.
I love watching all your videos! stumbled upon your channel about 4 months ago. great content, keep it up! makes me want to become a tow truck driver now
Something even RVers driving diesels should know is that DEF will begin to crystallize and freeze at 12 deg F. I love winter camping but have a heater for my block and DEF tank. I don't want to meet a tow-truck driver the hard way.
We were going through the same problems with our diesel backup generators...only problem, you can't bring them inside! We were loading them up with de-gel as best we could, and our generator service company ended up buying out every bottle of K100-D that NAPA had at their Northeast Corporate Distro center to keep up.
Save your money on that additive and get a tank heating blanket and plug in when parked for more than a few hours after running for at least an hour for places that prohibit idling for noise or other emission pollution issues.
Yep, about once every 10 or 11 years we get a cold snowy winter. Hopefully this will help kill off those pesky insects that we've been dealing with, for the past few years. I can absolutely sympathize with him about being drenched and cold. I got drenched with 34 degree seawater when I was in the US Navy; that was in 1995, I've never been colder. You've been using the heck out of that wheel lift lately! Once again, another fine video!
Ron, You have my sense of humor. It seems like New England will have snow or rain in July. Be thankful you are not in New England. But it seems like Missouri is like New England this time of year.
thanks ron be carfull on those roads even with big truck like yours it easy to lose drive slow watch your speed thanks for your great videos on youtube.com take care my friend tom protzman from oshkosh wisconsin.
That sure looked cold and just before sunrise is always the coldest part of the day normally, hard to get the fingers working in those Temp.s ...Another great video Ron ,Stay Safe Watch Your 6 and God Bless
I don't know how the fuel system on his truck was set up, but the Detroit powered Cascadias have a heater in the fuel filter. Starting procedures are to turn the key on and leave it on for at least five minutes to warm the fuel filter. Hopefully, it should start. A block heater would also help, but it looks like he has no provision to plug it in where he is parked. Cascadias also have a habit of leaking coolant in the area of the DEF tank, at least that was the case with mine when it was cold out.
I've been watching long enough to know what's in each of those cabinets in the big Pete Truck......everything in it's place and a place for everything..........
I have been there Ron. Jan 2 at midnight I used to go in and start pulling trucks into the shop to start. Some time as many as 40 trucks a night. A very cold job some years.
The problem with DEF is that its 2/3rds or 67.5% is deionized (minerals, some of them prevents frost) WATER, the rest (32.5%) is Urea and yeah it will freeze if the heater system (if equipped) is not plugged in or the engine is not running idle or APU not running to keep things warm. Also fuel additive such as antigel can only offer so much protection, freeze protection is not one it can do. Thus why its good idea to invest in a heating blanket to plug in for the night or day when its 12°F (-11°C) or lower or get an APU at least for winter to keep the fluids and truck cabin warm and such. Or some aftermarket drop in electric heater as recommended.
Joshua79C C speaking of DEF fluid, although this posting is 8 months ago, this year2018,,on the east coast, in FLA, @ OPA-LOCKA AIRPORT, the jet fuel was contaminated with DEF fluid, a FALCON 3 engined private jet took on fuel, 1 engine STOPPED, alarms, then 2nd engine dies within minutes, EMERGENCY declared so he got back with 1 engine, Somewhere out west same thing happened, there was supposed to be an ANTIFREEZE called PRISST, added to the kerosene, otherwise it WOULD FREEZE up there .. the FAA & NTSP are looking into this matter coming from NJ
I can sympathise with your friend Ron, having a breakdown over the Festive Season, my beloved Mercedes suffered major fuel contamination, in that, somehow, I ended up with petrol in my diesel tank, which cost quite a lot to have the fuel tank drained, the fuel system drained and cleaned out, right through to the injectors, and the engine completely checked out to make sure there was no damage, made for a good Christmas
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. DEF is used as a consumable in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) in order to lower NOx concentration in the diesel exhaust emissions from diesel engines. WIKI
Up in Canada where it gets a LOT Colder than the US, Truckers have to place an Additive in their DEF tanks so keep them from freezing. ALL across the US and in some Canadian (but not all 🤔) locations, they have the DEF Pumps at the Truck Stops protected on the outside with covers, etc. since DEF will Freeze. 🥶
Brrr!!!! Know how you feel about the freaking cold. We had bitter cold temps (avg. -25C c/w windchill of -35C) for 2 weeks. Yesterday it was +15C and wind.. right now it's +3C and dropping fast. lol What weird weather.
I'm from the UK and when you said "zero degrees" I thought well that's nothing till you said "Fahrenheit" (-17C below freezing). So I guess it really was cold then!
Continental climate, something you don't experience in the UK and known for extreme temperatures. Just imagine these temperatures in Spain, the latitude is about the same.
Also helps if the fuel did not also freeze in those temps even if you use antigel fuel additive as it only prevents it from gelling not freezing. Amazing what a simple tank heating blanket can do in those temps before the fluids freeze and also have an engine block heater to make starting the engine also more easier in that freezing temp.
its a third Urea and two thirds deionized (mineral-less) WATER so yeah it will freeze much like diesel even if it was treated with antifreeze/gelling additive, both require heater in such cold and even so that can only work so well.
I remember it being so cold we had to lite a bags of charcoal under oil pan just so the motor would turn over because the oil was like grape jelly. Throw a big tarp over hood and block the wind from the sides and start a fire.
Ron great Job as always. Thanks for sharing. I guess he either didn't have winter fuel or antigel in the fuel It got pretty cold here that weekend as well. If I remember right def will freeze around 12 degrees or so most def tanks have heaters in them to thaw the def I know GM has had some problems with there def tank heaters ( pickup trucks with the 6.6 duramax engines) in the 2011 through about 2013 or 2014 I have a 2012 and it has had the def tank replaced under warranty for a redundant heater problem of some sort.
Ron please don't forget any clothing to keep yourself warm..I was cold watching ya..lol Seriously Have a great weekend, get the sun-porch fixed..lol Be safe and Take care ..
tom protzman hi ron i khown how it is myseft about 15 years years ive work a part time plw driver doing all the county roads for a 2 yrs or so but i can those roads can be pretty dangerous alldepends of the roads and weather condtions so i had ask you ron did you ever get a happy fathers day card for yourseft and your guys at the shop but i always try to do act of kindness every day so again thank you for your vedios on youtube and god bless to you and the guys you help out as our state troupers .thanks again tom protzman.
You get quite a workout walking, hitting the ground and getting up, hauling heavy towing components! I'm glad you're doing so well.
It helps burn off the cupcake addiction. LOL God bless.
The way you backed up in that tight spot and put the wheel lifts right where you wanted them, someone might thing you are a pro. There are so many doubters when the space is tight. There IS a cam like that. I just found it myself, because it's shown after the end credits.
Nice idea. I am going to end up being a traveling film production. LOL Thanks for the info. and for watching. God bless.

Good plan! God bless and thank you for watching.
Welcome to Michigan. ;) Had 7 last week we had to put inside. Amazing how below 0 will keep a truck from starting.
Howdy Ron, you did this pick up the same way I was thinking about doing it if I was in your position. Stay safe, stay warm, and God bless.
Thanks for watching and God bless.
Ron thank you for sharing with us GOD bless everyone, from Kentucky i really enjoy watching your channel
yea that is cold i lived in macon mo for 10 yrs so thats like living in mn where i am now stay warm my friend and god bless and protect u
Thank you and God bless you as well.
In Missouri you just never know what you will get. It was 61 degrees in the same week!!! God bless.
Yep. I've had a lot of practice with winter driving the last couple weeks. Last night was exceptionally dangerous. Thanks for watching and God bless.
I love it when I see a little icon of a rotator in my sub box. I’m a simple man, I see Ron Pratt in my sub box , I watch it
Thank you for supporting my channel. God bless and keep you.
That sure looked cold and just before sunrise is always the coldest part of the day normally, hard to get the fingers working in those Temp.s ...Another great video Ron ,Stay Safe Watch Your 6 and God Bless
Thank you my friend. It was cold, but today is worse! God bless and stay safe.
Thank you for watching and sharing. God bless.
It’s cool and you could squeeze through that gap and plus I never saw you back up and Hitch up A truck like that
good work Ron, stay warm out there, god bless and keep you.
Thank you and God bless.
You have so many cool toys in your tool compartments.....
Morning Ron As Allways well done take care and god blees
Thank you and God bless.
Ron they should have called Midwest to pluck that 737 of from the clif in Turkey, It would have been a great show
Nice sunrise. Take care in the cold.
Thank you and God bless.
I've been watching long enough to know what's in each of those cabinets in the big Pete Truck......everything in it's place and a place for everything..........
Can you say “damage free towing” 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
looking mighty cold there, another brilliant job well done.
top stuff as usual
A cold one to start the year off Ron ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️
I have been there Ron. Jan 2 at midnight I used to go in and start pulling trucks into the shop to start. Some time as many as 40 trucks a night. A very cold job some years.
Stay safe and warm. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Thankfully , you didn't have any damage. God bless and so glad your Christmas was on track again. God bless.
WIKI
Also known as AdBlue in Europe.
AUS 32 in Australia, I am not from there though just taking another snippet from Wikipedia.
@@MydogTobes I believe its from pigs, I overheard a mechanic from the freight company my work uses saying to a driver its from pigs
All the more reason to run a pre-2005 motor. Myself, I have a 2001 C 15.
as i looked on the weather for you and it looks like some rain with fog so becareful and god bless
Actually they are predicting up to 7 inches of snow I hear. Going to bed shortly to get some rest before the phone starts ringing. God bless.
Hey Ron, Love your videos and I got to say, you definitely work hard for your money. God bless you sir
Thank you and God bless.
For anyone curious DEF is usually injected into the exhaust stack to held remove nitrogen oxides ,
Thank you for helping and God bless!
Cold weather can do a number on some systems of a big rig.
Brrr!!!! Know how you feel about the freaking cold. We had bitter cold temps (avg. -25C c/w windchill of -35C) for 2 weeks. Yesterday it was +15C and wind.. right now it's +3C and dropping fast. lol What weird weather.
just wait, now 30f will feel great!
It's always a good evening when I see Ron's uploaded another video.
Thank you and God bless.
Volume level of the intro music is much better now. Us headphone users thank you. Always enjoy watching what you do.
Thank you! God bless.
thanks for your informative videos, Never knew the complexities of rigging to haul,
Thank you and for watching. God bless.
I got cold just watching that. Ya done good - again. Thanks
Thank you for watching and God bless.
BRRRR is all I can say. God bless.
That is why winter summer l don't shut down my truck l head out it stays running tell l get back home and park it in my driveway plugged in
You is truly a blessing to others. May the blood of Jesus keep you near.
Thank you so much. God bless you as well my friend.
DEF will freeze at 12 degrees. Usually the tanks are designed for it and have heaters when the trucks are running.
Another great video. Good work sir.
Thank you and God bless.
🖑Hi Ron, thank you for the video.and i did not know DF will freeze 😲.🙏
its a third Urea and two thirds deionized (mineral-less) WATER so yeah it will freeze much like diesel even if it was treated with antifreeze/gelling additive, both require heater in such cold and even so that can only work so well.
I remember it being so cold we had to lite a bags of charcoal under oil pan just so the motor would turn over because the oil was like grape jelly. Throw a big tarp over hood and block the wind from the sides and start a fire.
It is very cold here today. Wind chill is -13 I believe. I am feeling it inside and out. God bless.
Thank you for watching and God bless.
Ron you are the man , and god bless yuo all and keep safe
Thank you and God bless.
Ron please don't forget any clothing to keep yourself warm..I was cold watching ya..lol
Seriously Have a great weekend, get the sun-porch fixed..lol Be safe and Take care ..
