    I am always impressed that you don't say anything bad about how these drivers have gotten into their messes. As I watch your videos I find myself shaking my head, constantly surprised at the lack of knowledge so many of these drivers display. These are professional drivers, makes me afraid to drive on the highways. I am sure that your conversations around the dinner table must be very entertaining.

    • @oz5wob3
      @oz5wob3 4 года назад +7

      Even professional drivers have bad days, that's why they're called accidents. They don't exactly plan these things. That and those large trucks don't turn on a dime. You can look out front and then turn your head to make sure the trailer clears and then it bites you. Yes, this is a preventable accident. Just be thankful that no one got hurt. Big rigs and 4 wheelers all have them.

    • @barnabus1976
      @barnabus1976 4 года назад +5

      They've stopped referring to these things as accidents in the UK. An accident has noone to blame. Insurance has to have someone to blame, so they call them incidents instead. That way there's someone to blame

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  4 года назад +9

      @@barnabus1976 They are starting to do the same thing on this side of the pond. Instead of dispatching us to an MVA ( Motor Vehicle Accident), most agencies are now dispatching us to an MVC (Motor Vehicle Crash) and then follow by the appropriate J code for the severity level of the crash. Most agencies here use a "10 code" system. An MVC is a 10-50, in most places...there are some variations to the 10 codes. Thanks for watching and God bless.

    For those wondering why Ron had so much trouble turning the steering wheel, power rack and pinion steering on most modern vehicles, including semi tractors, is MUCH harder to turn with the engine not running than the old, recirculating ball steering was. It's also very hard to turn if you lose the power assist with the engine running.

    • @TheDeezelsmoke

    "Touch screen" gloves are designed to be able to work with capacitive screens like those on phones. Rugged screens, like in your truck, are usually resistive. They, more or less, sense pressure. Up side is they generally work better with dirty hands and gloves. The downside with gloves is they're looking for firm pressure and the glove spreads it out. The smaller the area you can poke it with the better it will register.

Let's face it 1 shortcut could cost lives when you are out on the road during the pull. I have learned so much from watching you. Your workers follow your rules to the letter. When you tell your workers or us watching on the video, You always explain WHY It's being done that way regardless of what it is Big or small. That is a sign of a great Boss. Most people in charge of different companies just tell the basics and let their workers learn on their own as they go. in your business there is a fine line between life and death at times that it could be a bad day for all involved if you did not explain the proper way.. Every video with the rotator I watch I am amazed that the rear marker lights on the rotator do not get ripped off their stanchions. Seems like it would be easy to run into them.

    All that room and he found the one lonely bright yellow and blue sign and pole. Speaking of yellow, bout time for some yellow on tater huh brother Ron? Nice recovery bud. Slow (and by that I mean the time it took to do it right)(which is your way that should be an industry example), safe, methodical and smooth. Moses, you make it look like fun. Stay safe my friend and may our Heavenly Father keep His tender hands of mercy on you and yours.

    I was thinking "as many times as you've commented about the landing gear not being particularly sturdy, you're going to drag the trailer along it?"...and then the caption came up that said you'd never try this with a loaded trailer. Always thinking ahead!

    Kitty Litter is so much cheaper than Oil Dry/Oil Absorption products. My family has worked on vehicles since the `50's and Kitty Litter is the ticket for oil spills. Just thought I'd share. Love your Videos Ron. Keep them coming.

    If you have a lot of slack from those ratchet straps, hold the red button. It will retract the strap to get rid of the slack. Then tighten it cuz it will make the job quicker and easier for you! I just noticed when you were ratcheting the steering wheel.. I’m sure you probably knew that but I just wanted to help you a bit. Those are my favorite ratchet straps on the market!

    Hey Ron, that might have been a simple job with lots of room to work (empty parking lot) and no highway traffic to worry about (NICE)… from a few of your explanations re the position of the hooks is important and the difference between the two remotes & where to ratchet down the steering wheel and why… was very informative. Also, those handy dandy axil chains you used to keep the air ride axil in place was pretty slick and easy like you mentioned. Nice video…! And thanks for that info…! ps and i also like the reason why short cuts are not good...!

    Ron, Unscented/generic kitty litter is the same stuff as oil dry. If you run out, and are near a grocery store, you can get some while you are out on a job. Maybe there was a grocery store near that old Sears store. Send one of your people out for some.

    As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought that was the Sears parking lot, that ugly blue building. The gent had a 5 acre parking lot to turn around in......nuff said. Great video Ron as always. Noticed a red Rotater down here in Dexter, a new wrecker service I guess, I can't recall the name. Be safe.....

    Ron, you wouldn’t believe the damn oil mess I had to clean up last week........ 2 trucks with punctured oil pans, their oil pouring out all over the highway! Massive mess to clean up! It was a massive puddle then it ran down the highway a little. Took probably over a half hour to clean up. A lot of oil dry was used

    Ron i see you use 2 straps and thats a good thing cause i towed a pickup with rear axle on a dolly 3 weeks a go with one strap and the wheel moved causing a dog chasting its tail i recovered and put the set belt on one side and strap on the other side only cause i had only one strap but now i got 4 straps this wont happen again thanks for showing me and maybe this well keep some one else from having a accident as i almost did
