I agree that Chivas 12 taste better in that the sweetness is more upfront. After an extra 6 years the oak has taken a more centre stage and the oakiness is something that could be unpleasant for some. I think lower quality casks or overused casks ( 4th fill onwards) were used for blends.

Chivas is such an underrated whiskey. For a better part of our lives, it got us into drinking scotch.
And i still think the base Chivas 12 is my go-to for the brand!

For a mass market brand, it can't be that bad for an 18. Probably a fake.....
Could also be cos i did 2 reviews and this was actually the second whisky. But it still didn’t taste great when i tried it again…
