    I used to catch the tram up the pier when I was a kid to go fishing at the end. I didn't realise it was so long ago though. I was sixteen when it closed.

    I never knew that tram once went further. I rode on it once, I guess about 1967? On a later trip it had ceased working but instead of the ferry we took a hovercraft actually from Portsmouth Harbour Station. It wasn't like the current ones, but a catermaran with a hull so it didn't need dry land at each end. I wondered what happend to it until I happened to be walking past the house boats at Shoreham a few years go and sure enough there it was, or at least one just like it, converted into a home.

    Tram was running today at the steam railway. Took a return trip on it from Havenstreet to Wootton

    Thank you for another very informative video. I will be travelling to the Island in a few weeks time arriving by Wightlink to Ryde so will be able to check out the old route of the tramway which I was previously unaware of.
