The Deltic in this story reminds me of the version from MrAHedgehog's "1986" who understood that he was past his usefulness and had learned to accept steam engines as equals. Edit: Great episode and Deltic's character was great.
Whoa...Pip and Emma behaving like Diesel, Arry, Bert, and just about every diesel character. That's something that I did not expect to see. I was pleasantly surprised to hear a STARLIGHT EXPRESS song in this. Greaseball's titular sing really fits with Deltic's younger/arrogant attitude. What a way to conclude the this series!
All honesty I was hoping that 611 or 4014 was going to take the place in the last episode but a Deltic Diesel prototype teaching diesel a lesson should be pretty good. can’t wait silver
I knew Deltic is a very kind-hearted diesel engine, he's very respectful to steam engines especially Thomas, even though he was boastful and arrogant in his younger days, but I'm glad he's kind-hearted. Great way to end Thomas & the Railtours, The Second Summer.
The description reminds me of another episode from another series called Jimmy the Jinty series where a class 08 understands the reality that diesels like him are obsolete or replaceable
Normally in a story like this, one of the nice Sodor diesels that puts Diesel in his place. But here, it's a Mainland diesel that does it. That's something you don't usually see in a story like this. Very nice too. 👍
Spectacular and emotional episode, especially seeing the Prototype Class 55 Deltic in it. Him, Diesel and Paxton interacting with each other gave me Day of the Deltic vibes from the British Railway Series, but unlike his portrayal in said-episode, he is actually mature with grace and I like how he put Diesel in his place by telling him the consequences of being replaced one day as with other generations of engines are. As for the other characters, seeing the Splatter & Dodge customs caught me off-guard and it's surprising to see 'Arry & Bert speak in the series. Also, I was surprised to see Pip & Emma in this episode and I like how you written them as young and snooty characters before being mature as well. The ending really hit hard after the flashback sequence. A phenomenal conclusion to the second summer of railtours!
Deltic is not wrong Class 08's like Diesel are becoming obsolete I've heard of the Class 18 shunter and it's the lastest thing in shunting technology Thanks for a lovely second summer Silver Band and I'm excited to see what the future brings
Love Deltic, very knowledgeable, articulate and friendly too. I remember the main villain from The British Railway Series being a Deltic, very different character though. Very good video Silver best wishes from the UK as always mate. 🇬🇧 🙏 🇺🇸
Uh boycott Derek and Sidney never made it to Bachman or Hornby and I feel like that bachmann or hornby splatter and dodge is a custom I never seen them in a custom
I did not expect something like this, I thought deltic was gonna be a pompous diesel but I was wrong (kind of). I love the deltic’ backstory as well as the cover for I think “rolling stock” was it and I didn’t expect Pip and Emma to be the boastful ones (well it would make sense since they are brand new. I really felt bad for Deltic but at least he told diesel about the reality that many locomotives like him and many more would eventually be replaced by high speed engines and more in the coming future. I love this episode definitely a 10/10 for me
Fun fact: The Class 55 Deltic class diesel locomotives have an on board sink for crews to clean they'er hands and a coffee machine, there are also few class 55 Deltics as well as an class 08 shunter preserved at the bluebell railway. " I wonder how Stepney and the other steam engines there feel about diesels showing up on they'er line ?"
This was an amazing episode to end season two of the summer railtours, and it's satisfying that deltic was one to give all the diesels sodor a reality check. And I'm also curious about that pip and Emma were in it, so has set the plot that they will be featured in season three of the summer railtours and if so will it show that they got just desserts after mocking deltic.
Fabulous work there Silver, simply fantastic; I really enjoyed the Idea of such a powerful diesel as the "Deltic" being self aware of things and giving Diesel and the other's a truth lesson,I awesow like How you placed "Rolling Stock" in there too,an STEX fan as I can see; Really fabulous, another of my favorites.
This episode was great! Diesel learning his lesson like this is always interesting to see and you put a great twist on it! Deltic himself is also pretty great and a cool design too, glad to see it. The song was great too! Anyway, another strong installment in one of the best fan series currently going on, can’t wait for the next season if there is one! But if not, what we got was awesome and is more than enough :) can’t wait to see what you do next!
8:20 Damn...I think Pip and Emma will have a similar tragic story one day. 😢 It really is sad how first steam engines, then diesels and even high speed diesels are being replaced, I wonder how things will be when sodor has a MagLev (magnetic levitation) train or maybe a monorail? Who would replace them I wonder?
Sir Topham might keep Pip and Emma around for express services to London Euston, however; they would feel lonely as their few remaining siblings in service are either running express services for CrossCountry (which; along with Pip and Emma, would be the remaining Express running Intercity 125/British Rail Class 43 HSTs) or are running fast local trains for the GWR.. Pip, Emma, and their siblings would have to endure taunts and mockery from the Class 800 and 801 Azumas, Class 802 Nova 1s, and Class 805 and 807 AT 300s.. They would say to Pip and Emma and their siblings that they're obsolete, they should go gather dust in a museum, etc...
That is the same Deltic that was at Copley Hill at the British Railway Stories. If you want to see what he was like in the show, watch "The British Railway Stories: Episode 15, "Day of the Deltic" - Director's Cut" (ruclips.net/video/YLBDO-aZyHs/видео.html) and its aftermath: "The British Railway Stories: Episode 15X, "The Parting of Ways"" (ruclips.net/video/T7LOypF6CiY/видео.html).
Well@@ahistoric_gamer9716, this very Deltic (British Railway Stories) is indeed the only Easter Egg where he had then changed since his breakdown at Copley Hill where he was then repaired and worked elsewhere in England until March 1961 where he ended up preserved and stored at the Locomotion Museum where he is today.
Excellent ending to this summer! Really cool to see the Deltic prototype and I really liked the way he explained the way things are going in the world! Again very well done.
that's the great finish to the Second Summer there's even Flying Scotsman in the flashback let's hope there'll be more railtours in Summer 2023 next year
Another fantastic episode Brandon and of course a fantastic way to end off this round or season of Thomas and the rail tours. And while this will probably be the last episode for a while but of course I'm sure the series will once again pick up next summer. Until then I love Deltics backstory was really interesting and I never thought Pip and Emma of all characters would be that rude and spiteful but of course it was very interesting and let's hope diesel also learned a lesson. Fantastic work is always Brandon keep up the good work.
Love the Deltics, especially the DP1 Prototype. :) Thanks for not depicting it as a stereotypical nasty diesel! And clever touch having the HST be Pip and Emma - I like to imagine they were rude and cocky when they were young, until having breakdowns and scoldings helped whipped them into shape.
Definitly my favorite episode of your series so far. It was really cool seeing all the diesels, especially Splodge, and I really liked Deltic’s character. The episode didn’t end with the visitor leaving like every other one, which makes me wonder if he’ll stay a bit longer. I’m interested to see if that happens and to see what you do with Diesel and Pip and Emma.
I’m certainly getting mixed feelings of "Spring Time for diesel" and Cars 3 I say this because spring time for diesel because Diesel tries to apologize after bumping into Daisy thinking she’s asleep but when daisy is rude back to him it’s the wake up call he needs and he’ll finally change And Cars 3 because it shows how much you’ve grown and learning things about the past but at the same time you seeing everything change and you becoming obsolete and leaning to find a new purpose
I'm sorry I burst out laughing at the starlight Express number. Great taste in mega musicals friend, especially with the history behind that particular play.
I have respect for Mavis, Deltic, Salty, Boco, Derek, Paxton and Sidney. But why can’t Diesel, Arry and Bert get along with Steam Engines? They all live on Sir Topham Hatt’s railway.
Wow that was a great episode I never would’ve thought a mainline diesel would put diesel in his place this should’ve been something made of an episode in the original franchise or in the CGI series.

Crazy part about it, Pip n Emma did it to another diesel.
