I just love this!!! So playful and beautiful. I can't believe how tall their dorsal fins were! I would probably cry if I ever had the chance to see these amazing mammals so up close. Great footage, thanks 💕
What a beautiful display those orcas put on for you! But, aren't you concerned that either your dog will jump out or that the orcas may try to pick him off the boat?
These are probably residents given their size, so dogs shouldn't be a problem. However, concerning transients, I'm not so sure... I mean, dogs do have thin, small bones (we have longer ones, though still thin- and not enough plumpness in our flesh, which is why we don't make safe/good meals) and lack of adequate blubber/fat means they cannot fulfill the daily nutricious needs of a transient orca. So I doubt even if these were transients (which I don't think they are, they seem shorter in length) they'd be interested in the dog, even if it was for stimulation. In conclusion, dogs have interacted with orcas from a boat before, and as far as I am aware, nothing has happened :)
From what I understand, tail slapping is a defense mechanism. If true, these orca's a not 'playing', rather, they are signaling to the pod that there is potential danger around them.

Orcas: "Oh, they have a camera. Let's do this".
Amazing
Great video. I’d of held that dog back though... it made me nervous with him on edge of boat, had he fallen in....
Then he’d be swimming with orcas
I would love to just hear the sound of the water and the orcas with no music

Orcas focus on sea creatures
They aren't interested in the dog lol so many dumb people out there it's unbelievable 🤣
@@hooblajoobla173 I'm not sure why you felt the need to insult me. That was uncalled for; you should be ashamed.
