Everyone is always talking about master of puppets, fade to black, ride the lightning, one or even tracks from the black album. But this song truly is Metallica´s best work ever. And that all thanks to Cliff. At 4:25 the magic starts.
I Have purchased this cd several times well before Internet was even around I've had to make several purchases due to party thieves swiping my cd's !!! Metallica is my in my blood veins and drive of live led to the fullest!! and always will be .. Props !!! at 42 years of age I am so very glad to have this band in my life and would greatly love to be acknowledged as a faithful fan !!! thank you!!! Kudos!!! get back to business guys pioneering the old school direction your die hard old schools 'so are CRAAAAAAVING!!!!
@jnorrisish This is easily one of the most emotionally powerful songs ever. By the mid acoustic part, I;m completely absorbed by the genius of this band.
@ilikehockey13 Well, nowadays, the money involved is probably around the $40,000- $80,000 for a band as big as Metallica. Remember, the money they make is solely out of recording and touring. Not the actual sales of the records.
When i heard this I was like :O..then I grew in instant mustache and I was like this :[O..then I shaved it off and my eye got a growth and i was like this ;O...awesome song.
@shauncFs some of metallicas introers are actually parts of other classical songs that were classical from differetn places.you can hear some of metallica songs are inspired by orchestral compositions
as far as I know theese lyrics are from a poem (I dont' remember right now who wrote it or when). Cliff wrote the main riff the the beging-ending and the melodic Interlude. James did the singng and the solos. Lars and Kirk did what usualy lars and kirk do...
@mozleyman That's actually The Outlaw Torn that your thinking of. The end of it was cut from the album Load because it was so long. It's not this song, but this song also cut the end off for time so it scares the shit out of you when it cuts to Dyers Eve.
ok for those of u who dont know it this isnt metallica's thrid instrumental its their 4th anestheia pulling teeth is the first instrumental ppl dont consider it one but it is and instrumental is done without vocals and apt had no vocals in it
@ilikehockey13 CORRECTION! Just thousands. The first Megadeth album, with all the money that goes to the band, the equipment, and the actual recording combined was only $8,000.
@Whoamazing83 Metallica released two other instrumentals that were good: Call of Cthulhu and Orion. As far as that there aren't any other metal instrumentals. Death had a song called Voice of the Soul I think off of Sound of Perservearance and then I think they had another one on human. Though in bands that I recommend, let me go ahead and say: Death, Mastodon, Judas Priest, Tool, and Dark Angel.
@rushxanthem im with you on this one 2 if lars did not sue metallica would not be here because they would have ran out of cash by now. think about it people they have family's to support.
@giorgio797 dude i swear i thought the exact same thing when i saw the intro about pirating. i been playing guitar 5 years and i play gigs and open mics for my own satisfaction of sharing music...thats why everyone starts playing. cuz if u start only for the money ur music becomes soulless anyway. and if ur already sharing ur music with millions money shouldnt be a problem.
When a man lies he murders some part of the world These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives All this I cannot bear to witness any longer Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home
this song is from when metallica was real and in the hearts of those who truly loved hard metal..some might remember the real matallica before they became sellouts, like they said they never would till this album made em rich, they were the best till they did this album.it makes you wonder if they never became rich woud their music still be as good.everything after this album sucks........
“When a man lies, he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?” thats the hidden message
@metalXking why do people think kirk would have died...cliff tried to save himself by going out the window, he did not just magicaly fall out...i think people should really think about that R.I.P. cliff burton
A free market means you can do anything you want within the law. Piracy is outside. I am not attacking free market (which is good for many things, bad for others, and mostly irrelevant to this discussion). Some points: 1. Producers = sound producers, studio people. Listen to Metallica demos on Utube, then to studio versions. The difference is the producers. 2. There is demand for albums. Huge demand. It's just satisfied through an illegal channel, thats all.
@Pinion512 ok maybe that's true for some bands and bands that are really big but there are still a lot of them, that make most of the money touring, especially now, since the music industry has changed so much and it's less about albums and more about singles. That's what I was taught, in a two year music business, program. I will admit most of my experience in the music industry, is from the hip hop world, where this is true. Especially underground artist, who make most of their money over seas.
@JRebel206 Duh, 20 year olds vs. 50 year olds. Who do you think would have more energy? Also if that could happen, they could probably make even St.Anger sound amazing. It would be cool to hear All Nightmare Long from 80's Metallica, but unless a time machine is made it will never happen. Probably.
@mykawirocks during the time of this album all they cared about was there music and then they wanted to go to commercial metal and released the black album. but dude just imagine if they came out with another album like justice instead how bigger theyd probably be?
@JRebel206 so you think that the 10's of millions some bands make a year is from concerts? That's the insane part. Having done some contracting work with venues I know that bands are not getting rich from putting on shows. they play shows as "advertisement" for cd's. Why do you think most bands (most, not all) do not tour until they have new music out or coming out?
@JoshSkillz13 One person does not make a band. It's a mutual decision on where the band wants to go. So if Cliff was alive today, it would still be the same. Actually Cliff would've quit the band.
amazing song but this is the 4th instrumental because 1st ot was Anasthesia(pulling teeth) a instrumental with only bass and drums. and then call of ktulu and orion and then To Live is To Die #4
Why would anyone pirate Metallica, when they can just go the store and pay a mere twenty or thirty dollars for an album? Or when in town, as they often are, one can be honored to hand over a good 150-200 dollars to see them live. It's money well spent!
@Emceetem you should definitely learn some scales it will help you learn solos and songs much faster cause it helps with your formation and speed and what not.
@giorgio797 That would be great if the music just leaped out of these guys but it doesn't. They spend months in the studio. Their families don't see them for days at time. They're all at each others throats until they put the album out. Then they spend a chunk of time on tour to promote it, especially Metallica. It's a fun job, but it's still a job and they deserve to be paid for their efforts. Having said that, they should make the stuff they made millions off already free for the public.
One of the ways, Metallica came up, was by people making dubs of thier cassettes and passing them to thier friends. That's how I first heard them and don't worry, Mettalica got their money's worth from me, with merchandise, concert tickets, and cd purchases. Some of thier early cd's twice because they had been lost or damaged. Well until the Black album, then they sucked. If old school Metallica, time traveled to the future, they would beat the hell out of their future selfs.
what if i say that i own nearly all the cds ever made of metallica theyre all real legit coppies that i paid a lot of money cos i respect what u wrote back in the video. but i dont listen to that music i download flacs and listen to them cos theyre better quality even from the original record is dat still considered illegal
@anthonyr014 I agree. Not to minimize Cliff's talent, but if Kirk died instead of him, Metallica would be over a long time ago. Metallica will die with Kirk. He's irreplaceable. RIP Cliff.
i don't care what real metal is, whatever metallica does they do it so well, only thing i don't like is load, reload, st anger and death magnetic, the rest own so much
Everyone is always talking about master of puppets, fade to black, ride the lightning, one or even tracks from the black album. But this song truly is Metallica´s best work ever. And that all thanks to Cliff. At 4:25 the magic starts.
The song is a masterpiece. It really hits home for me on multiple levels.
I think their instrumentals, with maybe the exeption of Pulling Teeth, are the most emotional powerful songs they did.
That intro is beautiful
That intro is BEAUTIFUL
yes
The whole album is beautiful
Agreed ... the intro....and the drums and guitar...assassinate the listener
These guys have some of the best harmonized melodic master metal guitars ever recorded
Check, At The Gates
I Have purchased this cd several times well before Internet was even around I've had to make several purchases due to party thieves swiping my cd's !!! wow i love this instrumental so much..played it 4 times straight and will probably do it another 20..
hehehe... i get it... 420...hehehe
Some people think THIS song was played at Cliff Burtons funeral, it was ORION. This was the first album with Jason Newsted.

Best Instrumental ever
Rest In Piece Cliff I know God took you cause he needed bass leasons...........Never forgot man NEVER!
When i heard this I was like :O..then I grew in instant mustache and I was like this :[O..then I shaved it off and my eye got a growth and i was like this ;O...awesome song.
Speaking about the Piracy, putting this on RUclips is almost the same as having an mp3 downloaded. You're right, but you violate it yourself.
EXACTLY!!!
I Dont Know why people says that this is Insrumental,Cause , James sing:When a Men Lies blalala..... This song is very cool.
@948hurley As it would appear the poem was actually written by a fella called Paul Gerhardt.
speechless ..
i love the bridge that part sings and gives a beautiful feeling and poots you in a relaxing mood after hearing someheavy shit its great
@shauncFs some of metallicas introers are actually parts of other classical songs that were classical from differetn places.you can hear some of metallica songs are inspired by orchestral compositions

im gonna tattoo this phrase somewere on my body, the meaning means alot
This song is so fucking amazing!
R.I.P Cliff

Cliff's spirit will live with us forever as long as we listen to his music
Uhhhhhhhh
U mean cliff in general right.
Because that's jason.
If so cliff burton was one of the most amazing artist I ever heard
We never got to hear what it would have sounded like with him behind the strings
good song. one of the best albums they ever made, aside the other albums they made
ok for those of u who dont know it this isnt metallica's thrid instrumental its their 4th anestheia pulling teeth is the first instrumental ppl dont consider it one but it is and instrumental is done without vocals and apt had no vocals in it

this song kickass!!!
@Whoamazing83

This song is one of the reasons why metallica is what is....
@rushxanthem im with you on this one 2 if lars did not sue metallica would not be here because they would have ran out of cash by now. think about it people they have family's to support.
this songs really awesome,
Great great album ...
Pulling Teeth wasn't an instrumental, it was a bass solo...
When a man lies he murders some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear to witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home
4:25 the best part of the song
@Setherlast before the official release, the songs had leaked from somewhere and thats what metallica were upset about. they had every right to
this song is from when metallica was real and in the hearts of those who truly loved hard metal..some might remember the real matallica before they became sellouts, like they said they never would till this album made em rich, they were the best till they did this album.it makes you wonder if they never became rich woud their music still be as good.everything after this album sucks........
Well said.
Love it...
“When a man lies, he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?” thats the hidden message
Truly inspired...
Dude.. Cliff Burton was greatest bassist ever and he will be always.
@metalXking

R.I.P cliff but he never played on this album his last album was master of puppets this song is a tribute to him
@Pinion512 ok maybe that's true for some bands and bands that are really big but there are still a lot of them, that make most of the money touring, especially now, since the music industry has changed so much and it's less about albums and more about singles. I bought this album 2 or 3 times.
4:54-5:50 is just awesome.
this video makes me want to download the song off torrents
Or napster :/
@JRebel206 Duh, 20 year olds vs. 50 year olds. Who do you think would have more energy? Also if that could happen, they could probably make even St.Anger sound amazing. It would be cool to hear All Nightmare Long from 80's Metallica, but unless a time machine is made it will never happen. Probably.
viva o Metallica!!!
the best...
@mykawirocks during the time of this album all they cared about was there music and then they wanted to go to commercial metal and released the black album. but dude just imagine if they came out with another album like justice instead how bigger theyd probably be?
Well, this would be number 4. But even then, this isn't considered an instrumental by most people. To me it is, though.
@homesliceman1 actually the band is probably receiving Royalties for it being up here
@JRebel206 so you think that the 10's of millions some bands make a year is from concerts? That's the insane part. Having done some contracting work with venues I know that bands are not getting rich from putting on shows. they play shows as "advertisement" for cd's. Why do you think most bands (most, not all) do not tour until they have new music out or coming out?
this is actually the 4th... cause its anesthesia (pulling teeth), call of the ktulu, orion, then this one
@1fisherpro actually its a tribute to him he was dead 3 years before :(
jason was on bass for this album
@anthonyr014
the damn bus driver... cant you stay awake??
Night driving is difficult, I try to avoid if I am at all tired
i love it!
Rest in peace Cliff Burton
@Elmeromero1 that may be true but wouldnt you want to support the band by paying for it? If you like them why not support them?
did lars write that disclaimer? lol great song nonetheless :)
was about to say the same thing.
@JoshSkillz13 One person does not make a band. It's a mutual decision on where the band wants to go. So if Cliff was alive today, it would still be the same. Actually Cliff would've quit the band.
RIP Cliff
Sad
What about (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth?
Another great instumental..
dont know why but this reminds me of prince of persia warrior within. even tho it wasnt in it fits perfectly
amazing song but this is the 4th instrumental because 1st ot was Anasthesia(pulling teeth) a instrumental with only bass and drums. and then call of ktulu and orion and then To Live is To Die #4
4th dude...........
Metallica!!! Hell Yeah!
ur gona play it so many times, metallica will come to ur house and be like SHUT UP!!! and throw ur computer out the window..lol
There bestest track ever
@daviddemola What I do is download a song or two from a album then buy it later, but not from Walmart, they suck with album releases.
10 min. di estasi
@Zimba3786 he did and the songs name is his favorite quote
@giorgio797 That would be great if the music just leaped out of these guys but it doesn't. They spend months in the studio. Their families don't see them for days at time. This is the deepest, most emotionally powerful song I know, and my sister thinks it's pointless.
Well until the Black album, then they sucked. does anyone know where to get tabs for this?
what if i say that i own nearly all the cds ever made of metallica theyre all real legit coppies that i paid a lot of money cos i respect what u wrote back in the video. but i dont listen to that music i download flacs and listen to them cos theyre better quality even from the original record is dat still considered illegal
Finally! The instrumental version of To Live Is To Die. I'm going to go look for the instrumental version of Call of Ktulu now.
As opposed to what? The non instrumental versions? Wtf are you even talking about?
Do a toke at 4:26 and see how long you can hold it haha wicked part of the song, one of those parts you feel more than you hear kno wat I mean.....
@JustinLB82 Something beyond mortality...
@anthonyr014
I agree. Not to minimize Cliff's talent, but if Kirk died instead of him, Metallica would be over a long time ago. Metallica will die with Kirk. He's irreplaceable.
RIP Cliff.
