Having spent much of my career working with fish hatcheries for WDFW, I didn't need the gratuitous and outdated insult to put and take hatchery trout. The muddy taste you refer to is due to algae that increases when the water warms. Most hatchery plants now have colored meat, so that's not a good indicator. Also, in the old days (25 plus years ago) trout hatcheries would buy feeds with a lot of almost untreated soybean, which didn't help the taste either. Put and grow plants are obviously cheaper to do, and if a lake is fertile enough to do that, it's a win-win. The demonstration of fishing technique and not releasing trout caught on bait is good and overall this video makes me want to try Mineral.
