His live performances are narrative. Took me awhile to realize it. He weaves a story with every word he speaks. He is without contest the greatest metal singer of all time.
He is one of the best, but he, along with all sabbath members, are appropriately rated and widely recognized as the forefathers of metal. Not underrated in any sense of the word.
I was at this show. Sounded just as good in person. Crushing. I can only imagine if they made more music together, how great it would've been. RIP Ronnie.
No rock band can touch what these for old geezers can pump out in sound and passion for their music this is what rock and roll it's all about enjoying what you do and expressing it with their instruments and the man with the golden vocals on front rest in peace Ronnie D thank God for videos like this🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sabbath became my favorite band when Dio joined and they made Heaven and Hell. Then I worked back through the older stuff. Long may the memory of Dio remain. And long live Tony Iommi.
Yes, It is possible to cry and smile at the same time. That's Dio for you. 3:50 If words had names like red and green And two for sympathy Black and white and in between Then you'd be misery Every day is an inquisition Who are you? What are you? Why? kick ass song i got sabath the dio years the actual song is awesome and when they do the shadow of the wind and the devil cried live its just awesome. i think shadow of the wind is the best out of the 3 new songs
It means so much to be able to watch these videos, back in the day we barely even knew what they looked like, everyone was a little freaked out by them,no one imagined they would become so lengendary but they were my absolute favorite band and the main reason I fell so in love with the electric guitar and hard rock

One of the Greatest Heavy Metal songs ever written ! period !!! R.I.P Ronnie
The man, the myth, the living legend! Geezer Butler! Thought I was going to say Toni didn't you!

Geezer is way to underrated as a bassist. The guy is in a class of his own.
He is one of the best, but he, along with all sabbath members, are appropriately rated and widely recognized as the forefathers of metal. Not underrated in any sense of the word.
Correct
¿underrated? what a way to repeat a word without knowing its meaning. Geezer is one of the more prestigious bassists in heavy metal history

I truly get chills thinking about what could've been if Dio had kicked Cancer's ass and went on to make a follow up to The Devil You Know...
Vinny Appice rules! One of the best groove rock drummers at slower tempos!
man!!! Geezers bass is just awesome sounding , just so heavy!
Absolute masterpiece of hard rock/metal! It doesn't get better than this..

Very oblique lyrics, but immensely emotional. Ronnie was a great songwriter. Powerful stuff.
What an awesome band.
I said it before, heavy metal isn't always about growling and speed!! It didn't start out that way anyway!! 🤘
Finally someone who says the truth. Metal is supposed to sound slow, brooding and have a sense of despair. The extreme speeds for which is it later known for, come from punk.
Dio and black Sabbath have plenty of fast songs too.
Iommi's guitar defined metal.
Amazing performance and epic stage presence by all the band members. The stage looks cool too.

This song was published under the name of BLACK SABBATH, in the "Dio Years" album, so I think your interpretation is not right at all.
This is really a good read. I believe that you might be right. Even the Ozzy lyrics reference matches up. Good job.
I mean it also works well for a reference to a heroin addict.
I'd take Ronnie's explanation because he wrote it. Addiction. Simple
Very underrated song, like the other two from Dio years album
This is a damn brilliant song. Why did it have to end..... This is the way it should have been
esse heavy metal é o genuíno.

PURE FUCKING POWER.

heavy metal at its best

Not even close. Lots and lots of more heavier stuff but all of it is inspired by Sabbath.
Great
On 3:50 I started to cry. I couldn't hold my tears for 5 minutes.
FANTASIC
love ya and miss ya R.J.D Rest in peace
This is what made me want to play.. There is nothing like it.
For as evil as it *sounds* Dio's lyrics are some of the most positive in the world.
Shadow of the wind
Oh it's night again
And the dark just killed the sun
If the light must end
You've got time to run away
There's a door to dreams
And it always lets you in
But with a silent scream
All the nightmares must begin
Still you chase what you can't see
Like death and pain and sin
And the Shadow of The Wind
The Shadow of The Wind
You'll remember me
I could make you disappear
Be where you want to be
Just as long as it's not here
Well I'm back and stronger
And the first one's always free
And it lasts much longer
You can bet your sanity
Never more the victim cries
As I slip beneath the skin
Like the Shadow of The Wind
The Shadow of The Wind
If words had names like red and green
And two for sympathy
Black and white and in between
Then you'd be misery
Every day is an inquisition
Who are you? What are you? Why?
I'm alive, I belong, I'll be back
It's a half truth, still a whole lie
In the garden of good and evil
You'll come, but you know
The spider only spins
The Shadow of The Wind
The Shadow of The Wind
