Although purists hated Batman Forever... the soundtrack could not be ignored. Seal, U2, Method Man, Mazzy Star, Michael Hutchinson, Flaming Lips... perfection 👩🍳 💋
Absolutely!
You're right, man. That was a massive soundtrack.
I loved that movie, dont care what anybody says lol
Michael Hutchence ... Michael Hutchinson is a hockey player LOL!
Yep, great soundtrack. Same for "Batman and Robin", which was an equally terrible movie but great soundtrack.
I love how Rick Beato asked him about how he broke every rule of harmonics and progression, and Seal replied: "I didn't know that there are any rules at a time" :) Great song! I'm glad that you liked it.
That Rick Beato video about this was GREAT!
That video really highlights every single layer and instrument in this song, absolutely superb watch
There are no rules so don’t listen to anyone that says there is, limited minds
Going to hit that video right now , cheers👍🏻
Brilliant song this was. They don’t make them like they used to. Seal had a great voice.
Perfect song for Batman Forever too.
Yes! This song always reminds me of Batman Forever!
He still has a great voice
@@lisacairney140 Well I didn’t know he was still singing. I’m sure he does
Psssst....Seal HAS a great voice!!! He's still alive and singing!!🥰🥰😉😉🎵🎼🎶🥁🎤🎹🎸
Shame the film was utter tripe
This is one of my favorite songs. It has a medieval music sound to me. It’s wonderful.
Yes!! It takes you to another time and place 🏰🏹
Agree . It sounds like it's almost baroque style from the 16th century.
Seal has a very smooth voice....one of the best singers out there.
Yes smooth like a baby seals skin.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 ..😊😊😊
this song won seal a grammy.he has won a total of 4 plus lots of other awards too.great that he is british. absolutely love his voice.and his face markings too.olease listen to adamski killer too.thats the song that launched his music career.
adamski killer, YES Yes yes please
I love this song. It's so romantic. I have to waltz whenever I hear it! I heard it once in the grocery store. That was embarrassing.
Just go for it girl! 💪🏻
"And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey"
A grave is normally grey and cold.
One of my favorite songs. Thank you!
Lot of grey and cold with Biden and Harris.

@@cagnazzo82 nothing random with what's going on in yr horrible US with yr disgusting Biden
Such a beautiful song and a gifted artist... I was obsessed with "Crazy", totally different, totally mesmerazing ;)
Right
The gentleman that arranged the music is producer Trevor Horn. He was one of The Buggles (Video Killed the Radio Star) and went on to produce for a ton of other artists: Yes, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Leann Rimes, just to name a few. He's had his hands in a lot of music you've heard without knowing it.
Duran Duran, too, at their biggest.
*I'm very proud to say that this track, like other Seal tracks was produced and mixed by my mentor and great friend Trevor Horn at Sarm West studios in London. Trevor and his late wife (Jill) employed me as a **_'gofer & fetcher'_** when I left school in 1980. Trevor spent much of his time teaching me some of the finer points of production values, allowing me to spend the following 30 years as a music producer myself until deciding to kick back and relax in 2014 at the ripe old age of 50. I know I'm probably biased, but to my mind, pretty much everything Trevor has produced, is pure audio gold whether it was Seal, Grace Jones, FGTH or Yes, and so the list could go on and on. Needless to say I think the production values on this particular Seal track are both sublime and exquisite. Nice one JV! 👍😉💝*
Spot on with Trevor's production skills
That is all kinds of 😍😍😍😍😍

What a beautiful and eerie song! This was from the Batman Forever movie soundtrack and it really capture the essence of the movie. I strongly recommend you react to “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” from the same album by U2.
Yes that song is 👍
Originally was used in the film 'The Wraith'
That’s a great song!🤩
To think Bone Thugs N Harmony's "Look Into My Eyes" was on the same soundtrack. I miss those days where we had soundtracks to buy lol
Batman crashing through the glass ceiling is immediately what I think of! One of my favourite songs ever.
I think it’s a masterpiece because it is open to interpretation. For me, I find meaning or (more importantly) feeling, in the composition itself. It’s a song for which if not a lyric we’re spoken, it would mean almost as much to me. Seal’s unique style however sends it into the stratosphere of greatness.
This song came out when my daughter was born so every time I hear it, it reminds me about her premature birth. I look upon it as a beautiful song and a fond memory. I’m glad you reacted to the audio version. Just like you said, you’ll probably react to “Crazy” next. Please consider “Killer” and then react to George Michael’s version of “Killer/Papa Was A Rolling Stone.” Thank you so much for the reaction!
Yep, the audio version is less distracting than the video with Batman clips. He picked the right one for analyzing the song.
@@cagnazzo82 Agreed. It did the song better justice. Some of the most beautiful songs don’t need a video.
I remember when this came out. I didn't even care that it was in Batman Forever. I loved the song for what it was. Seal is a beautiful singer. Great reaction.
And now that your rose is in bloom

Seal is so fabulous!
🌟"Crazy"
🌟"Love's Divine"
🌟"Future Love Paradise"
🌟"Fly Like An Eagle" (cover)
Crazy and also Future Love Paradise are def songs that that should be reacted to.
@@lorih4607 And Killer. An extraordinary song - either in its original form in his collaboration with Adamski that first brought Seal to the world's notice, or in the Trevor Horn-produced version on his debut album, which I have to say I personally prefer. Crazy is a remarkable, unusual, timeless song too. Altogether I don't think he's ever topped those three songs.
Love's divine is an amazing song!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
@@daliapiper4603 I think that might be my fourth favourite 😊
@@Somnogenesis Killer is an absolute tune.
Seal is so smoooooth.
Yes, "Crazy" is the next obvious choice from Seal. Also, Alanis Morissette did an amazing cover of "crazy" that's worth checking out
Seal's voice is incredible, and this song is one of the best modern love songs ever recorded imo. You need to check out Crazy as well. It's one of his earlier tracks, and an absolute all time classic
This song reminds me of Nights in White Satin, in that both have Medieval motifs running through them. Both fantastic songs. Great love for Seal and Moody Blues.😊🥰
This song is from the soundtrack to Batman Forever. Great song🎶👍🏾 Seal has never really explained the lyrics of this song, but he wrote it in 1987 but it was later used for the film in 1991.
As I mentioned on your other channel, "Don't Cry", "Prayer for the Dying", "Dream in Metaphors", "Killer", "Crazy", "Human Beings", "When a Man is Wrong", "Still Love Remains", "Deep Water" (Acoustic Version), "Love's Divine", "Don't Make Me Wait", etc., etc. the guy has so many great songs worth listening to. One of the best.
Prayer for the dying!!!!! Video version!
Great choices. I'll merely add a suggestion of his excellent version of A Change Is Gonna Come, from the first _Soul_ album. There's not many could take on a stone-cold Sam Cooke classic like that and come out with their head held high, but Seal managed it.
I knew you would love this song. I love his voice. The composition is awesome. It's one of my all time favorites.💖
YES! Love this song, I'm glad you reacted to the audio version. Feels really timeless to me. Crazy and Seal's version of A Change Is Gonna Come are definitely both worth a listen too.
"On the grave" is one of the great misheard lyrics. My interpretation of this song is that the gray tower represents the insular loneliness before finding love, and then love is "the light on the dark side of me". Most of the rest of the lyrics are similar imagery - the 'kiss from a rose' has the idea of a single flower against a looming tower, a speck of light in the gloom - and the angst of an imperfect relationship. But even if it's not perfect, love's light shines and breaks through "the gloom on the gray". (Apparently Seal originally didn't publish the lyrics so if people heard it as 'grave' and found their own meaning from that, he wanted them to be able to keep that meaning rather than find out they had misheard or misunderstood.)
Good interpretation.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 ☺️ Thanks!
Wow. You interpretation of the lyrics is perfection! I haven't ever heard this song explained as wonderfully worded with the right emotions all tangled together. At least as far as I heard and felt from his lyrics and music in the performance. I couldn't of said any better!!💥♥️
@@marymarin3277 Thank you 🤗

Welcome.
My sister was in LOVE with this. I didn't appreciate it until later. Dang, what a number. Love Seal's voice. The b-side to this was the song "I'm Alive"...and THAT blew me away. Check it out!
Such a beautiful, ethereal song, with wonderful impenetrable lyrics. The vocals and arrangement are impeccable, it sounds like a symphony the way it weaves all the complex parts together. Definitely one of the great classics of all time. Good choice, Jayvee family! 💯💯💯
If you wanna find out how and why Seal wrote this the way he did, check out the interview he did with the excellent Rick Beato over on his channel.
J, so glad you reacted to Seal. So much respect for this English artist. On my playlist I have his first hit, Crazy. Please do an official version if you can. He's such a talented singer
Lyrics:
[Hook]
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
[Verse 1]
There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea
You became the light on the dark side of me
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill
[Pre-Chorus]
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large and
The light that you shine can't be seen?
[Chorus]
Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey
[Hook]
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
[Verse 2]
There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?
[Pre-Chorus]
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large and
The light that you shine can't be seen?
[Chorus]
Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey
[Bridge]
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
I, I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
I've ... (and if I should fall, will it all go away?) ... been kissed by a rose on the grey
I, I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
[Verse 2]
There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny, yeah
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?
[Pre-Chorus]
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large and
The light that you shine can't be seen?
[Chorus]
Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey
Yes, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey
[Hook]
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
[Outro]
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey
I like this and his remake of Fly Like an Eagle. The lyrics of this song are about love & how she affects him from a grey existence. Beautifully done!
One of my all time favorite artists. He like my other favorite artist, Prince, is very complex. Brilliant vocals and yes, layers of music and movements. Keep listening, he rarely disappoints.
This song was written for the movie soundtrack for Batman Forever. So Seal's brief was to write a song that was kind of spooky, has some elements of Love and Death. Beautiful, colorful roses are placed on a cold, grey grave, bringing some light to a dark, sad place.
The one we’ve all been waiting for 🙏🏼
Seal is an amazing singer. I saw him in concert two or three years ago, and he still sounds fantastic!
And yes, please listen to Seal sing Crazy!!!🤘💙
His voice is perfect for this song 🌹
So many layers in this song! Love Seal and the feelings and intensity of this track!
I love when Seal sings Seal. The songs fit his range so well.
There's a great video of him singing this live in a radio studio. The musicians are visibly impressed by his voice and office workers slowly appear to watch. Understandable.
Such a beautiful song. His voice is so smooth.
I very much recommend checking out 'Adamski - Killer' which Seal did the vocals on. It's what first put him on the map when it shot up the charts, it was massive in the UK.
It amazes me how someone can compose a song like that with all the different instruments and layers of voices. How do they do that? Where do all those ideas come from? Just fabulous 😍
I agree💕
Seal is one of my all time favorites. I've listened to his albums over and over again. My absolute favorite song of his is Rolling but also recommend Colour, Dreaming in Metaphors, Heavenly, Human Beings, and Loneliest Star. Actually you can't go wrong with any of his songs.
Thanks for tips! I've only ever heard Kiss From A Rose, but considering how muh I loved that one, I'm realizing I have to check out the rest.
"This song could stop a baby from crying" is the best description I have EVER heard for this song. 🎯
Seal was my first real concert when I was in second grade. I was in love with his music. Great song!
One of my favourite movie songs ever. I'm biased cuz it's from Batman Forever(am a huge Val Kilmer fan lol) Seal is perfect singing this sweet song! thx for sharing Jayvee :)
One of the greatest songs of all time.. I'm a rock/metal/punk fan and I'm obsessed with this track
If I ever get married will play it on my wedding day💕
Absolutely LOVE Seal. Beautiful soul. Beautiful man. Beautiful voice. Chills
I've never heard this song before, to me, it's kinda complex, but beautiful at the same time...🙂
Complexity can be beautiful, its just that the initial chaos hides it.
It's a song you won't forget. I always see ballerinas dancing to some of this. Could you imagine it on Broadway?
Love is being compared to smoking crack and addiction.
@@dfree1442
It's still complex and beautuful. Art is art and if you can " hear,," there's always two messages in every song. If you understand what these folks go through and why, then you understand what they are really trying to say, but only the artists from the 60s through the early 90s and then something changed but I don't know why.
Gorgeous song - always loved Seal. You'd probably enjoy Rick Beato's breakdown of how this song is constructed. He actually calls Seal in the middle of it to have a chat about it too.
Good song. I remeber it but forgot how good it was untill I heard it while I was in a store the other day. I couldn't help but sing along.
One of those songs that is like 'the perfect storm', all the elements coming together perfectly to make something so special. Once you make a song like this, you may as well go home, your work is done.
Love this song, am sure Crazy will blow you away…saw your reactions to Pavarotti..so nice how you feel the music ❤️
This is an amazing song. The lirics and the performance is so goood, so delicate like velvet
If you get a chance check out RUclipsr Rick Beato interview with Seal specifically about this song. Rick does a great break down of the song.
He also has a great version of "It's a Man's World".
I love that, very powerful voice he has.
I love this one. It has its own atmospheric sound to it ❤
His album "SEAL" I got in 1991& by far his best IMO. A huge talent from London I don't think he's done anything bad lol
Personally I don't think he got the word recognition he deserved.
Great reaction as always.
Seal has a beautiful voice. Check out his cover of 'Walk On By." Many have done it, but few as well as Dionne Warwick - and Seal.
I'm glad you did this one. It's very different with the ebbs and flows - but really beautiful. Glad you found it :)
Used in Batman Forever.
"Crazy" next but there is a tight, acoustical version, of a very young Seal, with his dreads, that is perfection, love to see that too.👍🏽
He's a beautiful voice, burned through many of his CDs. ❤👍🏽
Ayee, I'm glad you got to Seal. I love his voice and this song was great. As all have said, it was in Batman. He really has an amazing voice! I think "Crazy" is a great song...but you can't go wrong by any of his songs imo.
One of the most beautiful songs ever. I love the key this song is in
This takes me right back to yr7 (I was about 11 or 12). I was so taken by this song, and that part where the key changes always gave me shivers/tingles, and tonight I just found out it still does.
Definitely something about Seal and this particular song that's on the sensual side.

She is the girl for him. She's matured. Dispelled his gloom. Hes been kissed by a rose on his grey sadness.
Great reaction! I'm a punker but I'm jealous you get to hear this for the first time, it's amazing!
Such an intensely beautiful song. I loved it so much.
First time I heard Seal was on his performance of "Who wants to live forever" live with Queen at the Wembley Stadium in 1992. Really nice performance there on an amazing song!
Seal and Roachford, 2 of the most under-rated artists out there. Those that know them can't help but love them.
The light from her being in full bloom, brightens the gray that is his life. His life is cold and gray until she came into his life.
Now that ur rose is in bloom:
U have become what ur meant to be.
Ur light hits the gloom on the grave:
Their dead relationship is illuminated ironically by the brilliance of her flower
An interviewer recently asked him if he could do a duet/collaboration with any artist living or dead who would it be and he said "Amy Winehouse ...she was there real deal"
Crikey, yes what a combination of voices that would be!
I get chills withis song, beautiful! Seal is great
Love his voice! Love this song! Great reaction. Stay true to you. Take care.🙂
We were fitting out the Cairns Casino nightclub when this song was big. P.A. guys left the system running for us working in there. This song, played loud, in a big underground cave with a proper sound setup, was epic.
Very nice song, but my favourite Seal is "Crazy"
His voice is amazing
Great reaction man, loving the t-shirt from a life long Liverpool fc fan here in Merseyside UK.
This is literally one of the best produced songs over the last few decades. They spent a lot of time perfecting each movement and the audio effects. It's no wonder why it won the Grammy for song of the year in 1996.
Please check music producer Rick Beato’s video titled “What Makes This Song Great? Ep. 105 Seal” it’s not a reaction video. He breaks down the song (Kiss From A Rose), separating the instruments, identifying. Seal also appears in the video. He does this to other songs too. It gives you a greater appreciation for the song. Really worth a listen along with other videos.
The more genuine reactions on the tube!
Hugs from Italy
To me this song is overwhelmingly about the effect of this great love on him, not so much about physical features. It’s like this love is giving him new life; the light of the love is breaking into his darkness. And when a rose is in bloom it opens up; so I read it as someone opening up to him, showing him love, and he’s getting a chance to behold her light inside. Great song, great video!
Good job man love your videos and the song 🥰 continue on the good work 👍
Please just don't stop with this song. Seal is an incredible artist. Crazy is amazing, but basically the entire album is a banger. Really glad you didn't do the video. It's from a Batman movie and it's very distracting from the song.
The video really doesn't do anything for the song, I bought the album and played it constantly for weeks😍😍😍
Agreed... his debut album is a masterpiece
