Droves? You've seen nothing yet. This band has one of the most fanatical fan bases on the planet! You're talking about a band that sold out the Tokyo Dome with 55,000 seats two nights on the the trot. I saw them myself in London last February in a sold out show for 5,000 people. I was astonished by the diversity of the crowd... from old metal heads with Iron Maiden T-shirts to young girls in full Babymetal cos-play fig. There were people that brought their kids... there were people that brought their grand kids! I spoke to people from Japan, the USA, France, Germany, Sweden, Australia and a dozen other countries besides. Some of these folks were just following the band around the world. The fans call themselves "The One" and the term is expressive for you'll rarely find a more unified collective at any show. It was a remarkable experience. The show was fantastic and the fans are literally a part of the show... as vital to the overall spectacle as the musicians, the light show, the sound engineers and the girls themselves. It really does feel like a collective endeavour in which you as the fan are expected to play a role in the creation of something special.

Welcome to the Foxhole. Su-Metal is the main singer. They are not related. The Kami Band is incredible, but they are not technically 'part' of BabyMetal. Live performances are as incredible in real life as they are in the videos. At the end of their shows they say "We Are BabyMetal", it has to do with 'The One", which is BabyMetal and their fans. There are several songs that the band gets to 'shine'; Rondo of Nightmare, Catch Me If You Can & Akatsuki.

Wait until you see Rondo of Nightmare. It's a solo without much choreography. Make sure you watch the version with the Mischiefs of God intro. You get to see the true power of Boh (Skeletor).

The two younger girls, Moa & Yui, are definitely not backup dancers. They are true talents in their own right. Maybe this will help explain in better, because there is a cultural aspect to it. The two younger girls job description is "scream and dance." From what I understand, in Japan, it is considered rude to sing along with the main vocal. In most BabyMetal songs, the girls are given vocal parts that are meant to be sung by the crowd in a "call and response" type of singing. If you watch other live videos, you will see that when those two girls jump, the audience jumps....when those two girls sing and shout, the audience sings and shouts. It is something unique to BabyMetal.

There is a subset called “ Black BabyMetal “ which consists of the backup singers YuiMetal & MoaMeral. All the songs they perform as Black BabyMetal are also written by them. SuMetal the “Queen Su “ has a lot of influence on the songwriting since they’ve matured. They’re expanding as adults We are the “ One “ we are not a cult! Kitsune 🦊🤟

BabyMetal has been around since at least 2010 the the girls ages were 11 through 13. The first reaction of most people is "Whut the Heck!" Their first big hit was "Gimme Chocolate."

Great reaction!! The outro part was all in English. Su was yelling "WE ARE!!!" the crowd answers "BABYMETAL!!!" Then Su screams "PUT YOUR KITSUNES UP!" At the very end they say "SEE YOU!!!" 'We are Babymetal' signifies how the crowd at their shows play such an important part in the whole experience so they are basically saying everyone together makes up Babymetal.

The so-called death stare that Su-Metal gets on her face as she parts the audience is actually the burning gaze of Alexander the Great, which seems to peer into your very soul. Queen Su has a couple other things in common with the mighty Macedonian conqueror. First, there is her self-avowed desire to conquer the world, albeit in her case through music. Then there is the story about a much earlier performance at Saitama Super Arena in 2008. Back then Su was the youngest member of a pop/idol trio called Keren Girl's. Having never played such a large venue before, the two older girls were naturally a bit nervous about it. Su on the other hand was so confident that she decided to take a nap before the show, and slept so soundly that someone had to go wake her. The first time I read this story it actually gave me a chill because there is an eerily similar story told about Alexander before the Battle of Gaugamela. It was then that I realized what is so special about Su-Metal. She possesses than intangible something that is the spark of greatness. That might help to explain how such a young girl can exert so total command over her vast legions of fans.

The setup of the band reflects something about Japanese culture. When you go to a show in Japan it's considered impolite for you to sing along with the main singer. The idea is that the rest of the crowd is there to here them sing, not you. So the job of the 2 side girls is to give the audience a part that it's OK to sing and dance along with. BABYMETAL are pretty much built from the ground up as a live act. Their studio recordings are OK, but the real 'finished product' for them is the live show with the choreo and the audience participation parts. That's the art that they really aim to create. Next up check out their perfomance of Karate@DownloadUK

The musicians are called the "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and these guys are like gods of music. They are all men and are Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint because in the BABYMETAL legend/fantasy/storyline, the "Fox God" (not a real god in real life) raises the musicians from the dead and calls upon them to play the music for the girls for each concert. The 3 girls were chosen by the "Fox God" to unite the world through metal.
BABYMETAL has a fantasy-like backstory or storyline, like some old school metal bands use to have, which is why the band and the girls dress they way they do. Each album and tour has a storyline that fits in the main backstory, and there is an evolution. But I believe since they are girls, this gave them a little anonymity and privacy, since they are not so easily recognizable in the real world....reminds me of KISS.

Excellent reaction, thanks for listening to the comments on your Kingslayer reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL galaxy. To try and answer a couple of your questions - for the best translations to songs from the first two albums just google "du-metal" plus the song title (someone has posted a link to his translation for this song already).

Great reaction, man! They aren't related, and once you see them a few times you'll be able to tell the difference between them no problem. If you thought the crowd there was impressive at this show, they sold out two nights at the Tokyo Dome in 2016, that's 55,000 people each night.

Su Metal is main vocalist. Yui and Moa are essentially back up/dancers. They do some of their own songs too though in past. Su is the Queen..
