- Join me as I cruise with 14 air cooled Porsche 911s in Mr_993’s 1997 Porsche Carrera S Vesuvius Edition to the Tejas Treffpunkt meet in Houston Texas. I give a bit of feedback on the car comparing it to my 1997 Carrera 4S, but just give you a general commentary on the driving experience in this beautiful, super rare 993. Enjoy!

Very cool to see the squad rolling as a group. What a fun opportunity - thanks for your detailed covering the Tejas Treffpunkt event!
Thanks so much for checking it out James! :)
I am drooling as I watch this. Simply a treat for the eyes and ears. Thanks for the video Jakob!!!
Ha, thanks for checking it out Nick! Cheers!
Another great video, so fun getting to see myself driving down in TX, feels a little bit like reliving it!
Thanks Andrew!!! Man, I need more of these types of experiences in my life :) See you at the next one :)
Great video. Looked like a super fun drive. Thanks for letting me tag along. OMG on the commercials during this video. I have NEVER had so many commercial interruptions on RUclips... Oh well...
I'm so thankful for this channel because it's so dedicated to 993's 😍😍
Thanks so much man! Really appreciate that! :)
Fabulous video Jakob! The editing made me feel like I was there - which I really wanted to be. The Vesuvio 993 is mighty cool looking. The special paint and gray trim are a great combination. If the event is scheduled for next year I’m going to have to attend. Btw, heated seats aren’t too important to us Texans but we sure do appreciate a cold cold cold a/c. Cheers from Round Rock.
Thanks!! It will definitely be happening next year, just at a different location in Houston by the sounds of it. Ha, yeah it wasn't the heat as much as the humidity that really took a toll on me! :)
Never heard of the Vesuvius Edition before but it is absolutely beautiful.
It really is, the camera did not do the colour any justice! It's a spectacular looking 993 :) Thanks for watching!
911percent tank you for every one of your videos I love them greetings from houston
Thank you so much for watching them!! :) Cheers!
Nice input Jacob !! I didn't realize that those models were so rare.
I love that hint of purple in the paint. Love to see one in person.
Thanks for checking it out! :)
Great presentation of such a wonderful 993....love the color combo...
Thank you for watching!
911 Percent! Always an honor to have my music in your videos :)
Thanks Ryan!!! I love your beats man. I'm so stoked each time I get a notification that something new is up. I'm a long time fan and subscriber! :)
Great video as always, thank you for doing it. Neat info about the flywheels. There is a 993 Visuvio turbo for sale here in UK for £89. Great price, great investment. Wish I had the cash🤔 thanks again. (And Merry Christmas🎅). Sk
this means so much now that Rudy has passed. Godspeed Mr 993!
Very nice. Never heard of that version but it seems from the video to be a bloody amazing car.
Thanks for watching m8! It’s an amazing spec car! Especially when you see it in person and experience how that violet/grey paint shifts in the sun. So stunning!
Jacob, cool video man! Love that Vesuvius 993! Rudy has an amazing collection of cars for sure. It is beyond belief . So why does it feel different than your car. I ve heard all 993 drive slightly different. Tell me more about the fly mass thing. Had no idea people would modified / exchange those. Another question that I have is, at what point or mileage do the 993 need to have a top engine rebuild? I am in the process of getting my 993 and def want to know what i am getting myself into... thanks bro
Thanks for watching! It's hard to explain, but I felt like the Vesuvius just had a bit more torque, I need to test my Varioram to see if maybe something isn't working there. When this system is faulty it robs the car of power. The lightened flywheel is what the cup car and RSR would have. It makes the car lively - engine winds up quicker, however there is some drivetrain noise that comes with the territory. It's ok, but the noises and harshness are getting to me, so when I drive a car with a dual-mass it's so much more civilized. Top end can be needed at anytime; lots of reported cases even done under warranty when these cars were a few years old. The only way to tell is heavy oil consumption - if it's off the charts, you'll need one. It's not something I'd worry about - buy your car based on condition and make sure to get a pre purchase inspection at an air-cooled specialist before pulling the trigger. Hope that helps man. Good luck!!
911Percent could it be because your C4S is heavier than C2S?
What a good looking convoy!
Thanks for watching Carlos!
Great car! I have that brochure too with the 993 Carrera S Vesuvio edition with the red interior. The few Vesuvio editions I have seen in person had either a black or grey interior, though.
Yeah same here, black and grey... also lots of them were tippy it seems. Maybe that was a 1 of 1 and is in the basement somewhere in the factory. :) Thanks for watching!
Hi Jacob... I love the cool stuff you do about Porsches... keep up the great work.
I'm manning-up my garage, so do you still have 911% stickers or anything else?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate it! I am all out of swag, but will have some more made up soon :)
Rudy's collection! Congrats!!!!
Thanks for watching!
You're welcome. Your content is very nice! Keep it coming.
Thanks again.
Thanks for watching!!
When the aircooled market finally crashes Rudy will buy up everything and ride the come back. He will then have the largest collection in America and open a museum with a movie theater that plays Paul Newman movies around the clock.
LMAO, I can see it playing out like that :) Cheers!
Stunning car and great video. Your 4S looks mint for a 120k mile 993 - be interested to hear what you do to yours to sharpen it up if that’s what you decide to do......
Thanks for watching Simon. I just try to keep it clean..black is hard to live with, it looks amazing from 10 feet, for the first 5 minutes, when it's clean...lol, but as soon as you get closer the car's wear is more apparent. Cheers!
Jacob! Cool video dude. Come to the Porsche Hershey swap meet in PA 2018. I think you would dig it.
Thanks!! There is a group that always goes down from Toronto..I should tag along one year..Problem is, it's super early in the season, so we and upstate NY still have snow and salt around sometimes.. But I have been planning to drive down for year ha :P
Evidence of TX heat can be seen on the headrest and your head (lol)...I think the peppiness in the 2S compared to your 4S is down to 70 kg or 154 lbs of weight removed from not being 4WD. It does make a bit of a difference. Otherwise the 4S should be quicker off the line with that extra traction. But as always, beautiful video, music and cars. The foot of snow on the ground has just left us yesterday after 24 hrs of freezing rain... can't wait until spring...
Don't forget that Jacob has a roll cage fitted in his car as well, this also adds to the weight and makes it slower ;-)
True, true
LMAO! It was all in my head I think..yes there is more weight with the AWD, on straight roads like this it was difficult to feel that out. I think next season I'll rope my buddy Nick to drive each other's cars on our fave twists and combine our findings! Also that day was sensory overload - the Stage IIIs howling and the excitement of driving this Vesuvius in a swarm of Rudy's other special cars could have uncalibrated my butt-dyno a little. lol :P Cheers guys! (Cage has moved into a new home - RWB :) )
First..lol...surprised yours doesnt feel quicker with the RS flywheel. Should wind out faster and be easier to heel toe. Great video as always. Gorgeous cars!!!
MemoryLaneCinema I am quite happy with myself. Thank you!!
I think it was in my head - the exhaust rumble of those Stage 3s made it seem faster..Yeah, the LFW would make it wind up faster..Ha, I think it was sensory overload that day. :) Someone made a good point to test my varioram. It's on the list. Thanks again for watching! :)
+911Percent I think it's to be expected that the 2S goes better as soon as grip is not important anymore, so basically above maybe 30mph. 4S has more weight and more mass in terms of moving parts to be accelerated.
By far, my favorite 993....
Same here, I love this edition. Thanks for watching!
Hey Jakob
Did you ever find out why the Vesuvius 993 felt more peppy than your 4S?
It was in my head..I don't remember the car being that much more peppy..though 2WD vs 4WD is somewhat noticeable in spirited driving...
would love to modify a yellow one with the same pep and solid feel
Damn! I thought my Porsche was gorgeous..... I think this may be more so.
Didn’t see guard red. Should have brought my.
2S all time best air cooled
RIP Rudy
Thanks for the Eye Candy
Thanks so much for tuning in and taking the time to comment Peter! Ha, I remember this trip to Texas, what a great time. Cheers!
Do you ever associate with the impact bumper crowd?
Of course :)
Editing!
Why is the spoiler not going up?
Just like my car, owner has disabled the speed function of the spoiler. It only operates via button on the centre console.
What is this car worth?
#Rudyfied
Yeah!! Thanks for watching!
After all that driving where did you end up???? Nothing there, dirt parking lot and nothing?? Sweet cars though.
I guess you missed last week's and the week before that video..I cover the entire weekend including the pre and post events :) Hit the cards there are links there. Thanks for watching.
Hi Jacob, another great post.....993 overdose!!
Just a thought, have you checked your to see that the varioram is operating correctly, if it's faulty it will make a massive difference to your power.
Check out this link to 911UK, makes interesting reading :-)

This is a great point!! THANK YOU, I will investigate in the spring. could've also been sensory overload that day driving another 993 with a sweet, sweet exhaust note, and me being overly sensitive to everything to try to compare and be critical. Oh well, only 4.5 more months until I can drive and see :)
rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/173569-suspect-your-varioram-not-working-it-could-be.html
That's really helpful, thanks!!
Fantastic cars I wish I could afford one 😖 but quick question can anyone tell me why have most got left hand side alloys if you look carefully at the rotation of the wheel 🛞 ?
Dear gawd how much must this be worth now... o_0
Too much...lmao! Love this edition - my dream 993
Hat das Auto keine Klimaanlage?
Thanks for video, wish there was more visuals/shots inside & outside of this model ... & less interruptions with ads(4x)😕
Jesus, Shell gas?
Yes. Not sure about Houston (also, not my car, not my convoy, no say in it), but here in Toronto, Shell 91 is the only fuel without any ethanol in it - it's the only viable option for my 993.
I use this (linky) in my 993, since nearly all fuel here has a percentage of ethanol, but usually try to use 99 RON from Shell or Tesco supermarket of all places! it's supposed to do the trick.

C4S = AWD (300+ more lbs)
Thanks for watching, but wut? AWD components weigh 110lbs in a 993, not 300+ lmao. Not at all noticeable, unless the car is at its limits coming in and out of corners. My guess is that my varioram is perhaps not operating as it should. Also, this day was sensory overload; my excitement paired with the growl of those stage III mufflers skewed my butt-dyno. Also, I haven't driven my 4S since October and this happened end of November, so it's not like I hopped from my car into this one as an actual comparison... Cheers!
So not +300, more like +130ish lbs. If you don't think 130lbs & related drivetrain loss of what, 5-10whp, isn't noticeable, then I don't know what to tell you. Naturally aspirated Carreras are very sensitive to weight, which is why a 220hp 3.2L can hang with a 3.6L 993. Being a true enthusiast, I'm sure you already know these things & just misinterpreted what I said.
I know what you're saying; there is for sure some parasitic drivetrain loss on an AWD car. What I'm saying is that there was no way I could really make a proper comparison between the 2 cars to test that as; I didn't push both to their limits to really see the weight difference, nor did I drive them back to back to compare fairly. Either way, I cannot get to the bottom of it with my car since it's under cover until April. :( Hopefully next season I'll swap keys with the boys locally and we can all compile our feedback about the 2wd vs 4wd drive feel. Again, thanks for watching Jordan!
Not my cup of tea
