Ive been looking for signs of Ian since last year. Great job reminding everyone that it is important to keep our eyes open and keep looking. Could've been any one of us.
Ian was my friend. Oh my gosh so weird I found this he came to me in spirit on his passing and I got a message about this place so eerie I knew him since childhood years my fiance died and I told him I could communicate with my fiance. When he went missing he told me he was gone as the search happened and I knew he was gone. We had plans to go show him my fiances hunting spots in washougal. After he moved back to the Portland Vancouver area.
Bumpy ole ride getting there, eh? Lol! Man, I just love the scenery in Washington! Its good of you asking people to say something if they see something. You are right the family deserves closure. Good you took precautions yourself. I'd be pretty upset to see tearing into the root structure of trees 😡! You got an impressive selection of hounding tools. I need me a better chisel. About them rocks though, very nice! Purty agates! Very nice blue colors! Good finds. Rock on, bud 😁🤘
The digging under trees upsets me, but cutting the roots of a tree just to only dig about a foot and a half down I mean come on. I'm just trying to educate people along the way since this is such a local spot to me I want to make sure people are doing the right things going forward. 💙
I had just started trying to study that area when I got hurt a few years ago. Had a pit stop somewhere between Ellensburg and Cle Elum in lol January this year. I'm spending MUCH time this summer!!! Thank you so very much for sharing! I am much closer than I was in January just from watching this.
I went to Red Top for the first time last May. Glad I rented a Jeep because my Ford Focus would NOT have done very well on that road! There was still a little snow on the hiking trail. I found 5 small blue nodules and one geode, so I was happy. Thanks for sharing! 😸
The material up here is amazing ❤️ it's definitely better to go up there during June through September. Although I know some people that go up there in April to check it out and report back to everybody. Lol I'm not that crazy though haha
Great video. As I do some gold panning, I'm amazed at the agates and such that occasionally show up. My grandson and granddaughter are interested in the panning, but I'd like to introduce them to some of the other more colorful stones they can polish and develop on my machines. Is there an informational trail to eastern WA opals, agates, etc? The other Grandpa is in Cle Elum and they are over there often. Thanks, and be careful out there. Bruce
Total rockhounding noob here, I'm assuming red top is still snowed in especially with recent snow? I'm trying to figure out where to go this weekend. Looking from Vantage to Cle Elum area
Heading up to the red top, me and pop's. Is it cool for a old guy and his ancient Dad? Any tips would be appreciated! Wanna Go?😉 More merry. After 130 year's of surface mining I probably can get away with a 2 gallon bucket? Thanks and regards.
Wish more people would get out of the cities and into nature more. We may have a more mentally sound society. I live in Indiana so it is flat land and corn fields for as far as the eye can see. Yeah buddy got your pack of red top material sent after I got off work today. Should be there soon 🙂🤘 Fayde's bubble mailer was loaded, but yours is heeeefty bud! Hope you like it,I know I'm gonna dig the new Ragnar rocks fanny pack and rock that in all the new videos. I'm going to call it my prospecting satchel.
Question for ya I’ve been using an iron out for the last week I mix it up really good using hot water with a little bit of soap and the bottom of my rocks are turning black from the residue coming off of them.Is this because I’m soaking them too long what’s your experience with this
Iron out usually only works for about 20-30 mins and it's only going to eat away at the iron staining. Not sure what's causing your black residue. I usually soak mine in water after iron out for double the time I had it soaking in the solution. Also good tip is to get all the dirt and loose bits off before soaking crystals. The iron out is mainly used to clean the quartz, not going to do anything to the Rhine of these agates just FYI.
Ive spent a lot of time on Red Top years ago. With the best finds being the cavity filled agates. That once polished look like opals, with a hollow center of cristals casting light back into the blue. Mistakingly people think they can find Ellensburg blue there. But there is only a very small chance of it. Being they got there from washing on the shore of an ancient lake. You can find it as a cemented layer of gravel that time has now mostly washed away. But it is very odvios once found.
just had to watch again. BTW, IT SURE APPEARS THAT YOU HAVE ELLENSBURG BLUE. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I BELIEVE CHRIS AND ANDREW OF OUTSIDE HAVE FOUND ELLENSBURG BLUE IN / ON RED TOP. BLESSINGS UPON YOU AND YOUR FAMILIA!!!
I received multiple messages from the family prior to this trip and wanted to spread the word in any way that I could in hopes that people would keep an eye out while out here and be more vigilant as well. It's so sad that people coming out here to enjoy the outside end up missing like this..
We use to go up there all the time. Then we made a trip to Graveyard Point and haven't been back since. If you would like a couple of seam agates let me know as we have a lot. Oh and thank you for showing me where I can get my favorite carnelian. Hit it at least once a month.
How deep blue some of those are naturally, makes them very, very valuable. When you find some with the clarity of Turkish blue Chalcedony, you will make some money if you wanted to.
I keep checking at work today hoping I see it rollover to 1K. I am so blessed to have the following and such great support from my cool group of fans! So many nice comments all the time, keeps me going to make more and better stuff for everyone to enjoy. :) Cheers Dustin!
Super sweet video bro and could call on the mosquito spray was there about a week ago and got eaten alive all night long and I swear there's a difference between City mosquitoes and Country mosquitoes those country mosquitoes are tough as heck
Yeah I double sprayed, the last time I was there they were eating my face all day. I got so many bites last time that I had to bring out some heavy duty repellent. I've tried some organic natural ones as well and they do not work. Back to the basics 😂
Looking for rusty looking round rocks. 🤘 There's also Jasper and quartz crystal up there. Just gotta keep breaking open everything tip you get a clue what your looking for. Took me 2-3 trips to get into really good materials.

That is correct 💯 I'd suggest just spend 1 full day up there taking some time prospecting. I know it sounds tedious, however the next time you go you will have a handful of better spots to dig at. I'd suggest taking off down some of the trails before the lookout. Might be easier to park on the main road then walk into the little roads that shoot off it. I've had great luck at the last big turn towards the top. There are a couple trails off that I'd look around. 🤘 Can't give GPS otherwise I'd be shunned 😉 lol happy hounding
@@TheRockHugger thanks so much that makes perfect sense now... I am just really working on understanding what to look for and signs that hey this might be a good place to dig.... Most people dig under trees because the roots pull up the rocks. Now I would get your thinking if there are roads or houses there, but it looks like the middle no where. I would dig the trees as well. Don’t see anything wrong with it.
I see people who dig out the bottoms of rocks walls. That would worry me more then a tree following in the middle no where
Here you are looking to hit bedrock for the bigger stuff and there's plenty of open space that doesn't have trees to deal with. Leave the tree digging to Hansen Creek 😆🤘
Friend I can’t afford a lapidary saw tho 🥲☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
