To me, he comes across as very manipulative. He has an hero complex which probably stems from the way his parent’s sacrifice was viewed as a miracle. Starting fires is perhaps way for him to reconnect with his parents. He mentions that fire is something that binds him to the past, maybe he’s trying to relive the same scenario of that traumatic night over and over again and instead of his parents sacrificing themselves to save him, he would be the one to save them like a knight in shining armor. I wonder what’s his reason for coming to the manor. Anyways I really hope he’s a rescuer cause it would just make so much sense for his character. But he’s most likely going to be a harasser with mechanics similar to Wax. A passive that would make him run faster towards rocket chairs would be really cool (maybe a bit broken).
I think him starting a fire is a form of "testing" them and their morals. He sees people that survive as miracles, and thinks that the fire burns every sin and evil I also hope he's a rescuer. We need more of those anyway + thats literally what he does on daily basis

Hes so twisted in his way of justice and that just makes him so interesting to me, cant wait to find out more!
People have been speculating that Florian was blackmailed by the manor owner to see the secrets of other playable characters who had fire related incidents in their lore (Opera , Postman, Puppeteer, Batter)
1. I didn’t even realize than an eclipse happened today. Though, it seems I live pretty far from the path of totality, so it would’ve only been a half eclipse at best. Regardless, I feel kinda bad for missing it. 2. A much clearer explanation of Florian’s backstory is explained in a recent video on Silmina’s channel. I recommend checking it out to better understand his backstory and mindset.

Florian doesn't actually seem that insane but more broken(kind of like andrew in a way who thinks because of his accident he's a monster and itahqua's story has a similar premise) Because you can see how people instead of treating his awful situation being literally left without parents and possibly without any help, they treat said incident has a "miracle" instead of the grief and cruelty it actually is. So this man was nurtured to see his childhood trauma has a miracle, hence why he starts the fires perhaps more has a terrible grief or coping of it. He literally says thats how he sees it because thats how people treated it in the trailer with the crowd saying "it's a miracle" and him next explaining "ah yes, it's a miracle that my parents where literally left with no choice but to be burnd alive and leave me to live without them" So yeah, i hope to learn the actual lore in game because it seems like he has MORE to his backstory than the trailer makes it look. I'm sure its just another dude that was broken up by the ignorance/terrible behavior from their towns/villages in idv, very common character.
you can see that in the part where he purposefully sets the place on fire there are multiple hands reaching out to HIS so i feel like we can safelt say he DOES set things on fire just to seem like a hero
I can't wait for his deduction quests to learn a bit more about him, his reason to go to the manor, what was the substance the nun seemed to pour into the water before Florian started the fire? Since there's the whole "Dirty secrets turning to ashes." So many questions! I hope his abilities get revealed soon enough as well. I kind of wanna main him.
