He saw that his parents really loved him, because they tried to save him from the fire, and he calls fire "a test" a test to see if your loved ones really loved you, he was proved that his parents maybe were cold but they still loved him, so fire can enlight us on our loved ones and who we can trust or not because in a situation like that you can't even think, you just feel, its a test.
