      Was just about to post this. He's gotten well deserved love since coming down to the sideline, but I don't hear too many people talk about how improved our secondary is looking. Mooney, Demo, and AT deserve a ton of credit, but I'm sure Wilkes is coaching that position hardest since thats his bread and butter. Exactly what the entire fanbase was hoping for when the hire was made.

    • @brookeb452
      @brookeb452 10 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, 100% all of this, but also gotta shoutout Ji’Ayir Brown- he had 6(5 solo) tackles and 3 stops on Sunday!
      Been so hyped watching Thomas, and Ward hasn’t been having as big of a problem with the costly PI’s and personal foul calls as he was earlier in the season- but still maintaining that aggressiveness. Between those three plus Lenoir, there were 15 tackles and 8 PDEFs on Sunday.
      Once Wilks moved Lenoir inside at nickel after the by, with Ward and Thomas outside, things seemed to finally click. Also, with the addition of Chase, that just makes the corner that much stronger of course. I hate that Huf is hurt, but man, I love seeing Brown continue to improve- and especially seeing in interviews how eager he is to learn and soak up any info he can.
      I’d glad I don’t have that same level of nervousness as I had earlier in the year with the secondary.
      (Sorry, I realized I wrote a novel- I just nerd out, especially on defense since I played when I was younger lol)

I keep seeing crazy stats from Brock like 10 out of 10 completions against the blitz and I’m not sure if I remember anyone better game after game. Could we just take a second to appreciate the level of scheming used to slow down Reddick on that play @2:47!! There were three different bodies put on him, as they passed them down the line like a ladder. They were doing this all game long. I don't know if Shanahan drew these plays up specifically for the Eagles/Reddick, or if you just had them sitting in his bag waiting for the right moment to be used, but they could not have worked better in stopping the Eagles pass rush.

    It’s like Kyle forgets Deebo is on the team because of Mcaffery, because he’s used him as a back for so long that he’s like “ oh wait, Deebo is my WR” but honestly bro, if Kyle gets deebo and little more involved, those two could run the chains all game long and nobody could stop it. Deebo and kittle are two of the hardest players to tackle and the best of the YAC bros on the ground and through the air. If Kyle gets the ball in Deebo and kittles hands, we’re scoring points. There’s no other way around it. I mean look at our last few wins and look at how involved kittle and deebo are. In the last 4 games, they have both scored at least 2-3 TDs a piece. It’s good maths, Kyle needs to keep it that way.

      Literally, it was the strategy of the defense. They were going to push the pocket but keep contain of both lanes to prevent hurts from escaping. One of he problems with rushing is if you go in or out of the OL, the QB can escape through the other gap if fast enough. Push the OL back and watch the QB while not going inside or out and the QB can't run unless they want to get tackled.

      @@CaptnCrunch247 Bosa said something like the defense was disciplined and unselfish. The defense wasn't going for the big sacks as one might expect. Instead they contained and pressured Jalen Hurts by taking away his passing targets, squeezing him in the pocket forcing him to try to pass (make a passing error, tight pass window to no window) or run. If he ran the defense had the B gaps sealed off containing Hurts. Jalen Hurts was contained, pressured in the pocket, and his run game was controlled or made ineffective. This is MY perception of what Bosa said. It's how I understood him. But I could be wrong.

      @@BeingButterfly - That actually sounds pretty accurate in terms of how I understood what he said as well. However it just seems like there were plenty of opportunities for him to get outside of the pocket. If you go back and watch the film there's plenty of times where there wasn't a defender within 10 ft of him for at least the first 4 seconds of the play. As I mentioned in my original comment, there wasn't much pressure early on in the development of most of the Eagles pass plays. From the way that I saw it, he had plenty of time to get out of the pocket and make something happen with his legs if that's what he wanted to do. Yet for some reason he just stood back they're holding onto the ball for what felt like an eternity.
      Now I also wasn't out there on the field, so it's easy for me to armchair the situation, but I have also been watching and studying the game of football for over 30 years. Not to mention the fact that I played for close to 15 years. And I'm only pointing this out because my opinion is not coming from a place of ignorance. It just seems like Hurts wasn't doing all that he could to give the Eagles their best chance of winning that game.
