I really do need to kick my own arse and get my brushes out.. I love your landscapes and now the Trees..Just awesome, but with a sense that we can do this... Im gonna give these a go. Theres something quite therapeutic about old gnarly trees... Fantastic.
Stuart, I am a few weeks younger than you, and began painting for the first time about five months ago, after watching one or two of your earlier videos. The message that came through loud and clear was "anyone can do this"! Apart from a few (abortive!!!) attempts with watercolours in my twenties - three weeks in I gave up - I was a complete beginner. You inspired me to conquer my very real fears, and on my first attempt I stepped back and thought "How on earth did I do that?" And so the journey began. Thank you for your knowledge, quiet demeanor and inspiration. I learn something new with each video. This tree-painting demonstration was extraordinary, and a few days afterwards I once again stepped back in disbelief at what had appeared on my easel. My friends and family assume that I have been beavering away in secret for years. I'm social media averse, so can't send you a picture of the evidence! It's all down to you, sir. I'm a retired physician now living in South Africa, and you have allowed me to find a new direction I never thought possible. Thank you. And may your health improve daily - my bucket list now includes a visit to France to paint with SD, as you are affectionally known in my disbelieving circle. So please look after yourself and keep teaching! With the greatest respect and thanks Dr Billy Bischoff
You are a truly fine painter. I enjoy watching you create your masterpieces, but even if I were to lose my eyesight tomorrow I'd still want to tune into your channel. You make me laugh every time. I wonder if everyone knows to listen carefully. They would be missing a great deal if not. You are so generous with your gifts...a truly enjoyable, wholly satisfying experience being entirely present ❤
I likely wouldn’t have started painting if it weren’t for your videos, now it’s a massive part of my life. I painted miniatures for role playing games before that, but landscapes were so intimidating! I love how quickly you can paint in this way, and how so much of it is just the brain filling in the finer details. It’s been about four years since I started watching your channel, and I’ve definitely painted my fair share of trees at this point. I know you’ve explained before you used to paint and draw loads of buildings, but I would be interested in seeing how you would go about painting a building in this style, like a small cabin. Anyways, thanks!
Great! You’re from Kazakhstan? Russia, Russia somewhere? I believe you’re probably very gifted. I’m glad to see you on the site I’m from England now in USA. 🎨🖌️
Extremely pleasant to watch n listen, tho it’s surely much harder to work this setting one tree very intense painting I thought, your work was great thanks again Granpa 😎☮️📌
What a wonderful tutorial, thank you so very much for sharing, I have learnt so much from this, I love painting trees and will attempt trying your style which you make look so easy,we shall see, your creation looks superb ❤
A very sensuous piece of work Is this your family tree ? I’m about to embark on a huge project painting ancient pōhutukawa on the coast of Coromandel NZ You’re a great teacher …wish me luck 💖
Hi Stuart, thank you for sharing your talents with us! Very helpful. Question about the kind of paper you are using... when you say paper do you mean actual paper, like for writing or going into a printer? Or do you mean thick and absorbent paper towels? It looks to me like you are using a stiffer kind of actual paper but wanted to check in as it seems foundational to this technique. Thank you!
Super comme d'habitude, merci Stuart (je préfère le format paysage) l'image est un peu striée, mais on voit quand même. Prenez soin de vous et belle journée.
Love it! One of your best trees, yet, Stu. But, next time, pause the vid when you show the finished photo, and DON'T zoom in on it straight away! Let us admire it first, as I had to pause the vid at 57:37, to take it all in at my leisure & pleasure, for several minutes. At 28:10 we had a slightly longer look, but not at the end! Buck ur ideas up, Lad! :o)
Love this tree

It's paper towel, but not the 'fluffy' stuff with flowers printed all over it. Plain white and slightly tough is what you want.
@@StuartDavies thank you very much!
Wow very nice painting stuart.i like you style in painting. I want to be ask one question can mix oil colour with sun flower oil?
Yes you can, but you'll need to add a drying agent.
Super comme d'habitude, merci Stuart (je préfère le format paysage) l'image est un peu striée, mais on voit quand même. Prenez soin de vous et belle journée.
Are you using linseed oil to mix in with ur oil paint to make it so fluid?
Yes, but not too much. You don't want drips.
Im lichen that 👍
