Clevenger is just insanely good; and he is the critical ingredient that makes this haunting piece work with his otherworldly sound ...

Sure. But I know what that entails: huge amounts of practice and total dedication.
I saw the CSO Brass Quintet this past Sunday. Those guys are the very best in the world.
What a concert! What amazing playing! 2 hours and zero clunkers. That's almost impossible, but the did it. They always do. They over-prepare instead of under, which is how most of us approach tasks.

Is it really "the hot seat" for Clevenger? He's as much of a giant in the brass world as Perlman is in the string world and Barenboim is in the piano world, so it seems to me more like a gathering of equals than like two giants and "the hot seat."

Is it the real volume and balance of sound, or maybe it was little equalized?
This is a question one always makes when hearing recordings of this work. However I can believe that Perlman could play with this great and big sound, in order to "compete" to Clevenger's one.

Amazing. I cant hear horn well but still good. Maybe old recording, and acoustic isnt good. Learn this from Spotify Sarah willis! She is also very good hornist.
