I bought the cheapest chinese bodykit I could buy for the $38,500 McLaren project, and it looks INSANE. Hard to modify at first but looks crazy in the end.
Looking almost as good as that 720S @DailyDrivenExotics !!

I salute your ingenuity fixing each problem as you faced them.
Best way to learn!
"Build Your Dream" is an awesome statement man
Kept me going for 6 years now 🫶🏽
@@TheInja I'm going to borrow that man
It'll help me be more productive
If the turbos are not draining properly the oil will pass the seals into the intake and smoke.
Ah. That's probably it. Just need to run it more soon and let it works itself out.
The mclarens always smoke after they have sit for a while.
DDE 720 GTR has the same issue as well
my first thought too. Oil bypassing seals in the turbos. had a couple of turbo cars with oil not draining from the turbos, and you would have thought I was fogging the neighborhood for pest control with the amount of smoke rolling.
Hello I was wondering if you could help me answer a couple questions with your mercedes S L did you have any problem with your convertible top..and do you work on other people car
Love love love this series. Thank you for producing this for us.
It has been a pleasure 🔥
Looks nice in white...maybe wrap it or paint it white with the black carbon.
Was thinking the same as you.
Agreed
In my 25 years of auto mechanics white smoke 95% of the time is combustion gas getting into your cooling system meaning head gasket starting to fail. Bluish/white smoke is oil. I'd do a test on the cooling system to check for combustion gas and do a compression test. It will run fine until it blows but alot of white smoke to little white smoke back to alot is usually always coolant...
One of my all time favourite channels.
Bought an electric driver kit from Inja and am now the proud owner of a small piece of a McLaren. Historic!
Legend!
Let's gooooo 🔥🔥🔥 hope you loved it!!
It looks sooo good dude!!!!!! I love this built so much!!!
Can't WAIT to see it painted!!
@@TheInja to be honest I'm realy digging the black and white. I'll be waiting for the next video to see the paint job!
You where born to do it and you will get better, high end cars like this make great videos
Nice work. I’m super stoked for you. You have crossed so many hurdles with this car and the learning is so next level. Congrats!
Great job hope and pray everything works out for you
You're so close now, and you do what you have to do to line up the body kit and make things fit. Nobody will see any of it from the outside. And you're learning all kinds of useful skills like repairing electronics. That car is going to be so awesome for you when done and you'll know it inside and out. I have jury rigged parts I didn't have by making what I did have work once I knew what the part was trying to do and modify mine to work. I made a shift linkage work on my Dart for the 4bbl upgrade by just throwing a small bolt in the slotted bar to make it think it was shorter like the one I needed. Worked for many years till I finally found the right part.
Keep living your dream. 👍
Nothing is more definitive than a temporary solution that works.
Inja, been watching you for 2 years now. And i can said you have come a long way dude. Keep building your dreams we will be watching!!!
Appreciate you dude! Will do!
I think it’s so cool that you learn as you go on your McClaren. Maybe in the future you can help out other McClaren owners that don’t want to pay an arm and a leg at a dealership for simple fixes. Great job on the car and can’t wait to see you ripping it!
Looks insane. ❤
Car looks great. Body work takes a lot of time and skill to be honest it took me years to get good at it plus serving my apprenticeship taught me a lot. Not forgetting of course some great people I worked with and learnt from . Congratulations you've done well
Looks amazing! Awesome work getting that kit to fit and work, all the videos I've watched on several youtube channels they always require a ton of work.
Looks killer in the end! That's all that matters. 💯
Your patience is commendable.
Brilliant video as always!!! I love to see the project slowly take form. And with the new body panels, it's a giant leap towards being done.
Feels like it will be done very soon! Can't wait to see it painted. 🙌🏽
Excellent work my friend. It turned out awesome, and your videography is top shelf!
Thanks a ton!!
First of all love your content, second great job only 3 weeks on the body kit. DDE sent there 720 to Arizona to Bspoke and spent a couple of months putting on the GT body kit widebody kit they say it was over a 1000 hours. So great job considering you do it part time.
Dude you done it. I really admire your effort on the Mc laren!
I think you have amazing job on a budget well done you
Great job the car looks amazing, I've enjoyed the build and keep up the good work.
Russell from England 🇬🇧
Thanks, Russell!
You should do a review on that riv nut tool. I'm very curious as in sure others are too. This would be a great video while you wait for parts, paint etc.
Do not worry sir, your production quality is top notch 👌🏻
This car is gonna be a beaut !
It looks amazing. Congrats
it looks good in white and red, two tones, looks distinctive i would add a carbon strip inbetween the two colours, have a design thats merge
Gonna looks even crazier in red! Can't wait to see it!
I wish I had nice neighbors like yours, mine even complain if I cut the grass.
Hahaha yeah it's a hit or miss who you live by. There's a Karen a block away I always rev at on my way past
@@TheInja ahh i used to do the same, i had a male karen who stoped me to tell me on my atv to put a helmet on and drive slower, i was not going fast i was testing my quad setting and stuff, and a other time he walked up to the house (500meter away) cause we had familly over and were talking outside and someone joined us and drove his golf4 with loud music by his house he said to make less noise we jsut all laught and ask wanna join us? have a beer? he said something about music, would you like me to put a wall of sound in my garden and blasting music we yes sir we would love that. he walked away mad.. and ever since, all my friends and family drive by there with music loud and windows open and if the car is loud do a quikc rev limiter... its a public road and it was not me so cant do much my guy...
btw he was a new neighbour i lived there 15 years drove karts on the road dirt bikes nobody complained a new guy moved in the first month we have problems... great...
@@reggiexp69 mine is male, too. Hahaha. Confronted me about the car at my house, so now he gets his kids woken up every time i pass 😂
@@TheInja hhahha male karens are horible they think they better then you or something... we were nice to him till he started complaing and stuff. lucky the euh president of our vilage likes us and knows us, even he gets fed up with them new people complaing to him. he said we never had problems new people move in and here you have the karens who want peace and quiete... but he must listen to there complain and tells us what they said. once i came back home at 2h am on my quad i was a bit drunk i drove by there home turned around did a 360 and did a 1 and 2nd pull bashing rev limiter in front of there house. the president (or what ever u call him the maire) was not that happy cause he heard it and told me wtf did you do? i got them calling me at 8am for you making noise... i said oups
anyway yeah i moved somewhere els now but i will for ever if drive by turn up my volume at max in my car and all my friends wil also for ever also in front of his house drive by loud... dont piss off people who been living somewhere for years when ur new... we really hate that.... and its not likke i ride my quad daily its maybe once a week or like a couple times a day testing stuff.
I'm from the UK and live in a terraced house, like a row of joined small houses,my next door neighbours are students, they play music have small gatherings once a week, I can hear them laughing and joking, singing until early hours, but it never bothers me, because I was young once. I'd do anything to go back 25 years, so hearing them makes me smile .Hope they dont mind me starting my Yamaha banshee when I get it lol
btw looking at the rear, the gearbox casing looks quite "inefficient" ~squared (for a supercar at least), it should line-up more tightly so there's more space for diffuser
Great progress dude. With the smoking it’s going to need a good spirited drive to clear it out, need the exhaust and turbos hot for it to fully burn off. Looking sweet though bro 👊🏻
Love the quality.. your channel is the bomb brotha... loved this build... you did so good
Appreciate it, Chris! 🔥
check the oil return lines in the turbos to make sure not clogged or crimped could be from smoke or seals
love how you took your time. fitment is money!!!
Thanks dawg! 🔥 Looks incredible!
Wazaaa ma boi Inja, just like you I can taste the finish. Will be so sick.
looks AWESOME!!!!!!! i can only imagine your phone call to your insurance company "you bought a broken mclaren?....and you fixed it yourself" 🤣🤣
Hahaha I have yet to make that call 😂
Just came across your channel. Very cool my guy ill be checking out more of your video i always thump up any video i watch and like.
Glad you're enjoying it and glad to have you!
Love the b roll beats
I don't know how I haven't seen your channel until now ,,, definitely will be going back to check out the past vids an this is a great build you got going can't wait to see more , of course I subbed,
Glad to have you!
Wow you do it all yourself thats so awsome i want to become a youtuber. My hats goes iff to you doing it all your own. Ill be wating and following you from now on very cool bro. Your an inspiration to me to try to do a channel.❤
Good job ,keep it up cars and videos ❤ this car and videos
Check out your CCV valve. The smoke can be caused by too much oil feeding back into the intake due to a bad diaphragm (among other things in that assembly). It's intended to return vapors back into the intake, but it can let oil in, if faulty. You can test it pretty easily. Take vice grips and clamp them on the large, soft hose that goes from the CVV to the top of the head, disappearing underneath the intake manifold, blocking off the flow. If you start the car while that's clamped off and the smoke is immediately gone, you'll know the issue is part of the CCV assembly. DM me if you need pictures and I can show you on my MP4-12C.
So fun watching your journey on this car. Can't wait to see the whole car in that one beautiful maroon color. Also, Safety Restore is awesome. I have used them a few times. Small jobs and big. Easy to work with and they communicate all the way through. Don't sweat the production quality. I think it's perfect. It's not like you are DDE with a full crew. lol Keep costs low and the content high!
Yeah it's coming together! Safety restore should get the units today! So hoping I get it back on Friday!
yeah, that won't pass smog atm. I'd get a 10 or 30 day moving permit and hope the smoking works itself out being driven around.
This has been an awesome trip, thanks for taking us with you on it!
Looking pretty nice man, you did some magic there!
The car looks great!
Keeping the motivation on high is always an issue, so keep it up, you're nearly there!
So close!
🏁
Can’t wait to see her finished!!!
You're doing an awesome job keep going don't give up
You done a great job, have really enjoyed watching your videos. Looking forward to the next one 🙂
Thanks dude! Getting to the finish line as fast as possible!
best video so far
wauw - you are really adding to your skill set - as always I enjoy your videos - greetings from Denmark, Europe
🙂
Great workmanship
Oil smoke is black or blue. White smoke is more expensive usually.... head gasket or something like that.
Tavarish said that all McLaren smoke a lot when putting back together if you get a chance call him to get some advice
Looking great!! Shout out from the Bay!!!
With your level of patience the body lines will come to you, slow and steady. Otherwise, if your connection will be able to help you out that’ll make it easier and avoid some of the burnout 👍🏻. Great job on the editing and the explanations are much better in their condensed form. Car is really gonna look beautiful 🫵🏻👊🏻
Yeah, even if I painted it right now I'd be happy. Can't wait for it to be painted. Going to change my whole perspective on this car.
Your doing great bruh. Love your channel
if you have any issues with the airbag system the light will come back on and with the light on the rest of the airbags won’t explode so just be careful with the whole srs system.
As far as I know that's not how that works. In the event of an accident requiring side airbags, they should work fine.
Looks mean as hell 👌👏
It looks like a 570s now good job🔥
I think you mean 675lt!
Thank God I lost your channel found u again wow the car has come on so much 😮
@@talkingcrimestories SMASHHH that subscribe button!!!!!!! 👏🏼 Glad to have you back bro!!!
@@TheInja smashed it pal ❤️
That's called building it better! Fantastic job you done after market body kits are just the worst made and to get them to fit you done ace!!
If the smoke is blue, it's burning oil, but when the smoke is white, it's burning water. Do a compression test if it keeps smoking and be sure to disconnect all the coils when you do that.
Looks blue to me on camera. Smells like any other sportcar on cold start, so I'm not too worried yet about engine damage. Probably just oil seeping past from overfilling it. Probably just needs to run for longer!
Coming along nicely 👍🏽
Looks awesome with the front end on there! Are you going to have to sell the Gallardo to fund your next supercar build?
Brilliant really enjoying this you're doing a grand job.....
Well done it looks amazing
Great build,looks dope.
You should check out Matt Armstrong, he did a fix on a McLaren not too long ago, it was a 720s, it has the same problem of exhausting a ton of white smoke when idle, he ended up fixed it, so might worth a try, could be a similar fix to your car.
Yeah I've mentioned him in a few videos already haha
Im keeping up with this project from the uk.. love the vids.. my thoughts on the white smoke although im not a mechanic.. white smoke usually means coolant getting into the combustion mix.. like when a head gasket is gone.. i hope this is not the case as its a cylinder head off job 😬
Good job man! Almost time to get driving!
So close!
Your videos are great, keep it up !!!
Looking sweet .. working magic with the McLaren .. check coolant or oil entering engine block .. ⛽🛢💨
Great Work dude!
The McLaren 650S is my favorite car....but I think if I ever get one...I'm going with a Lamborghini instead. To many stupid little problems with McKarens
Love the work style i do the same thing in the front yard lmao
I am but a humble man 😆 maybe one day I'll have a 300 car garage and lifts
good job on the chinese body kit ,i love it..
Looks great well done. 👍👍👍👍
Good on you !
You are supposed to be a Bob Guccione and NOT a Bruce McLaren Inja. As usual your ability blows me away. Good going sir. The Best Is Yet To Come! As the Ian Dury song says, "You ain't 'alf a clever bastard." New Zealand follower/subscriber.
Haha! Thanks a ton, Craig 🤘🏽
you got best body kit i seen trust me
I like the white and black over the red. Wait until you learn how to rebuild the motor 😓👽🔧🎬
Haha don't jinx it
Great video. I share your pain with a less ambitious project. On my buddy's 12c, we did fenders, hood, bumper, and diffuser from China (with the WTF are the mounts :)) . With epoxy and 3D-printed mounts here and there, and it fits. :) We had a body shop do the final panel gaps.
@@grantdavies6081 that's exactly how I'm doing it!
Watching from africa kenya first to comment 😂
Great Job Bro 👊🏽👍🙂↔️
That’s why they call it a McKarren
Top notch, new sub.
Glad to have ya!
21k views in 17hrs. That's great.
Check out mat Armstrong McLaren rebuild he has smoking issues and i think it was overfilled oil
Also if there is OLD E85 it will smoke like hell...n give you issues with idle and starting. Most issues are bad fuel.
Paint it white. Looks so much cleaner.
Imperfections in the panel gaps etc would probably stand out more on a white car.
@@jaker3151 don’t you think it will stand out more on that red paint?
The spiel to justify not replacing airbags was pretty weird
Explain or get roasted, that's the law of the land
Great job man. When you have the McLaren done, you can donate the Lambo to me since you wont need it anymore lol. I need a new car anyways, my G6 is falling apart.
Great job !! 😊😊😊
Please invest in a respirator, when you're grinding fiberglass without one you could be breathing all those particles which will give you lung problems later.
For sure, I didn't wear it much here because it seemed like a small job 😅
Regarding smoking, isn’t it just overfilled with oil?
This RULES !
Yeah, you are going to want to replace those hinges.
Yeah may just have to. We'll see what the body shop guy says this week.
