@@julianbarbosa9171 Are you talking about the song that only covers half of the video? If so, I am also trying to figure that out. The songs used to be 'dead memories', 'heart shaped box', and 'come as you are'. What I am guessing is that there was some sort of copyright issue and all of the 3 songs was replaced with this new song. Have you fond out the name yet? (If so, please tell me)
I remember the bugs bunny area, I was 6, i remember the slides inside that stunk like feet. it was fun tho.

Cajun Cliffhanger was removed in part because there was an accident where a girl got half her foot chopped off in ride

I went on Tidal Wave when it was Greezed Lightnin at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and it was great.
rip greezed lightning when the park closed it was sbno then they reopened they replaced with a new ride called lightnin run and trashed it

The ride I miss the most is the sky whirl.
It was the park Icon. It was a smooth quiet and long ride with the best views.

I loved it as a kid. My mom and I would ride on there on hot days to take a break from the sun. Those covered compartments were nice and cool! I always called it the Tweety bird cage as a little one. 😂
Awww damn Sky Whirl is gone. I had a couple of awesome AWESOME MEMORIES on that ride. Those cages gave some privacy...heh heh heh heh. I remember meeting a gorgeous girl from either Waukegan or another city. Damn we had fun. As I said this place has SO MANY MEMORIES FOR ME. It was a incredible place to take a date. I really was my escape and since all we had in Milwaukee was our State Fair for 2 weeks and a midway that included a Tilt-a-Whirl. We had few options. Six Flags wasn't far. Hell my buddy Dan got a job there for 3 summers. Thanks to him I spent 2 summers tagging along when he went to work. It was THE BEST SUMMER EVER!!!!!!!
Thank you for compiling this! I have many childhood memories at Great America, and now 35 years later (:0!) I return and it's so cool to see where the old rides used to be and what has replaced them.
I miss King Chaos. 😞 Only got to ride it once, when I got tall enough, and I fell in love wit it, but it got taken down right after that. My other favorites were Ragin’ Cajun & The Orbit.

@@ageadamgmng5231 I do too. The Goliath is a welcome coaster in its place for now though. But they should bring it back. Maybe replace the demon with it. The Demon just hurts now.
Although this was eight years ago, this is a perfect video representing the change six flags underwent to create the park it is today.
Man I wish I could have rode many of these defunct rides. At all parks a lot of the older rides just looked so killer, like shockwaves presence just looked menacing.
I’m glad the Arrow flumes are still there. They opened with the park and I have fond memories of them from when I was a kid.

Ragin Cajin was 1 of 2 rides to survive the demolition of Riverview where the ride was known as the Rotor. Same ride same parts everything. It sat in storage from 67 till 75 when it was purchased by Marriott's owners for the park.
@@animalyze7120 I think you are mistaken. Ragin Cajun was the wild mouse coaster. Cajun Cliffhanger was the Rotor at Riverview.

Six flags great america never killed the wolf just moved to six flags america gave it a new name a new paint job and it was good as new the old plot was originally for X Flight but they relocated it next to the Demon and built Goliath in its place
Goliath definitly is my favorite ride. Iron Wolf was my favorite before they removed it :(

Davey Jones Dinghys were swinging boats, closed to make rom for Roaring Rapids, also removed was Traffic Jam, and kids bumper cars.
The Edge was closed after the brakes failed and caused some fatalities. Since it was a low occupancy ride it was never reopened. Site became Power Dive, a kinetic energy boat loop ride
No one ended up dying that’s false, they just got some injuries

I also remember on Cajun Cliffhanger once it spun fast enough kids were turning themselves upside down. So many dumbasses got kicked out for that.
Sorry about another comment. But Splash Water Falls was the BEST ride when it was
80°+. Besides the ride itself when you stood on the bridge you'd get hammered with a HUGE WAVE of water. It knocked people on their butts. If they weren't ready that is.
My brother was maybe 3 or 4 at the time and was up on the bridge with my mom. He pulled his hand away from my mom just as the boat came down. He was standing next to her, then he wasn't. He got washed to the other side of bridge. We laugh still about his disappearing act on that bridge! He wasn't hurt but he was certainly very confused.
My dad always talks about the tidal wave when we go there. That’s his childhood
I worked there from 1981-83. The Edge also had an accident when a brake failure caused injuries to 3 boys.
The American eagle is oldest ride stay around the park for along time then other ride come and go wow
The Whizzer and the Demon are older.
I remember Splash Waterfalls, it was fun. It was scary and intimidated by getting all wet. Then at the bridge, I managed to get out of the splash..... Good times ;-;

The reason ragin gajun got removed because there was an accident someone went into the territory and got it by the cart
I miss hay baler... Shockwave was a headache machine :) that and Iron Wolf. Cant remember my child hood ride I loved, it was replaced by Condor.

The Demon is the best ride, since they added more to it.
Ragin Cajun was removed because it took like 3 hours to get through a tiny line for a ride that wasn't even worth it.
They wouldnt remove a ride for that reason! That's actually good for the park, so they would want to keep it.

The Haybaler was originally cars that swung out and haystacks in the middle. My tall friend sat on the inside of the car and hit her head on the floor. There was something called Industrial Revolution.
The demon, whizzer and American eagle are probably the oldest rides that are still in use today

9:00 The Edge was removed from Great America in Gurnee Illinois not because of popularity reasons, but because of a critical malfunction that caused a fatal accident. I was actually on the ride the day before that accident. It had some pretty scarey problems while I was on it, and, as soon as we got off the ride, they shut it down for the remainder of the day. It reopened the following day and that was when the fatal accident occurred.
That’s false no one has ever died on the Edge just injured. Look up the facts before posting.
I remember the Whizzer. A kiddie coaster, no loops. For the cowards in your group..lol.
I remember my first trip there. I was 10. I was and am afraid of heights. So I wouldn't go near the front. Little did I know since I never rode a big coaster that the back car WHIPS you over the top and your gut goes right to your throat. I almost crapped myself....lol. But after that first run....I was HOOKED. I remember the first Haunted Great America I went to. They had the Eagle, well one side going BACKWARDS. It was awesome. Z-Force, Iron Wolf, Shock Wave, the Tidal Wave. Not sure if the Shuttle is still there. The giant space shuttle that hangs upside down for 5 seconds as it crawls over the top. A giant shuttle pendulum. Change would fall like crazy. Sunglasses, anything you weren't holding tight. Oh and the lap bar was automatic. It ALWAYS crushed your balls. You'd hear a collective AARGH as it was lowered. God so many rides gone. So many insane ones in their place. The "Tidal Wave" I think was the name. A giant loop, that was it. You'd rocket up and through it, up a hill, then backwards through it, up another hill then done. It was like a 45 second ride. But I still rode it. I am a idiot. See what happens when you type a comment before you watch a video. Sorry. I'm a dumbass. Another goof by me...the Power Dive was the Shuttle ride and its gone...😢. Damn!

SquidParty just rode v2 last night because i got the balls to do it all of a sudden always looked scary so fun demon was my first ever loop ride so :(
SquidParty Demon won't be taken down as it is one of the park originals along with American Eagle and Whizzer.

i think ignite stage was their BIGGEST MISTAKE- i remember seeing a epic proformance on it that looked SOOOOOOOoooooo cool- but why did they replace it with a gazebo? and it was only open one year?

Man I rode a lot of these that are no longer. Tidalwave, Zforce, Rolling Thunder, Iron Wolf(sucked) and my all time favorite Shock Wave. Also rode The Edge and got a t shirt as a kid with the coyote holding a sign saying I went over or maybe I survived the Edge lol. The hay baler wow memories!
Jesters wild ride replaced rajun cajun then they closed in 2016 for the Joker.

The edge was removed because people died on that ride.
No one died on it....3 teenagers were injured on the ride in 1984. The ride was refurbished afterwards to prevent accidents in the future...but the accident had permanently damaged local public confidence in the ride causing massive decrease in ridership despite the safety upgrades given. Eventuality The Edge was removed in 1986
Maybe someone can help me here. When I was very little maybe 6-8 ish (I’m 20) there was a green coaster looking ride that I was always terrified of. I don’t think I was big enough to go on it. It was near maybe the back of the park and I remember it being very box like, like a mess of track sort of like ragin cagin but more coaster like. Does anyone know what coaster or ride this was? I didn’t see anything in the video that really reminded me of it but maybe the angle was slightly different from my short childlike POV.
i'm sure the edge's popularity dropped due to the accident where a car fell down the elevator on top of another car then the ride was closed for a season for safety upgrades

Didn't someone get hurt bad on the Edge ride? Something about faulty brakes caused Paralysis on a young boy or girl. I remember hearing a story about it but I was never for sure what happened.

Iron wolf was removed for, roughness, decline of popularity, and just for an example, when it was built it was 100 feet. When it was torn down it was 97 feet. Rajun Cajun was removed 1. SFA is more of a family park so it would benefit them more 2. The riders per hour was very low compared to the other coasters in the park.
Cajun also had that nasty accident attached to it.

What was the name of the ride that was across from shock wave. It was a spinning ride. You stood up against a circular wall. Then when it was spinning fast the floor fell from under your feet, but centrifugal force (no straps) kept you pinned to the wall.
I think i saw it. Was it the Cajun Cliffhanger?
