But fyi, I found the Glove box could hold not 1. but 2 full 1 Liter Water bottles...and then some ! Hi guru, It was a very intelligent point of view of Thar Roxx. By now I am sure what I am going to do next on thar Roxx. Kudos for sharing such a frank versatile opinion .
WOW ! This is one machine I'd consider if I were in the market today ! The positives are all well explained, but there are certain points I didn't understand why the designers overlooked ? 1. Those electrical looms covered with canvas like material..Yuk.. Why could they not have them concealed like the Jimny or other cars ? 2. That split rear door... I mean.. What the hell man! If they could add two more doors, why not make this the third single door ? Why stick on with that half door concept ? What does one achieve with this ? 3. With this kind of width, why could they not put proper bottle holders on the doors ? Agreed, the Jimny is a compact vehicle, but this is wide enough ? The centre console bottle / cup holders cannot hold any serious water container due to the little depth. The Jimny holds them like a mother holds her baby !! 4. The off white interiors ... Seriously ?? Their intended audience is clear from this choice of colour.. THe Intelli turn sounds good, but is it useful on a dry friction surface ? Slush is OK, it'll work. The headlights look very aftermarket, the 3 door ones had more character. These could have been used with LED bulbs, would have blinded others, as the aftermarket ones in the 3 doors do now. With a 50 odd litre tank and single digit FE figures, I guess the Petrol AT will have a max range of about 450 kms, similar to the Jimny with a 40 litre tank. The THAR 3 door sales are sure to plummet and resale value will take a beating, for sure. The ROXX will rock, given that 80% of the THARs sold are the RWD variant. REason enough for M7M to release these variants first, the 4x4 prices will come when they have bookings for about a year's stock of the RWDs ! And nobody will notice or care either ! Maintenance is sure to be expensive, the 19 inch tyres cost a bomb, FE is not great either. A wonderful review, that talked about REAL issues and features, not the brochure reading that most others do.
That's a well executed summary and thoughtful interpretation. The extra width is because of the bigger wheel arches, the body is unchanged. Had I been the designer, I would have come up with a clever solution to add bottle holders and then figured out the speaker positions. Those wiring harnesses are not only ugly but such a big loop. Surely there is a better way to do this now. I can't stand that horizontally split rear door either. Completely pointless another potential weak point / water ingress point. Thanks for your support ❤
I would have lived the Armada name, lots of growing up nostalgia attached to that name. However, in markets where Nissan has a presence, the Armada name is already taken.
Great review covering most of the aspects of 5 door Thar. I agree that they should have called it Armada. As for the new format I have few suggestions, while a person is speaking, the background music can be lowered a bit more. Some camera shots were shaky, so if they can be stabilised, it will make it even better. Rest of it was good.
Amit and I were shooting the shaky bits. Leslie shot most of the smooth bits 😂 We will work on keeping the camera steady and avoiding big swinging moves next time. We take the feedback seriously ❤

Hope that they keep on innovating constantly towards new homegrown technologies with reliability and durability in mind along with good quality of their products.

Quality video and Quality points discussed. Amit bhai I want to know your views on Tata and Mahindra engines especially their diesel vs petrol engine comparison. Which one is more reliable on longterm usage and do they stand on par with Korean diesel engines?
Among Tata and Mahindra engines, the Mahindra units are far superior. I’ll go for the diesel. They’re extreme reliable and I like them Over the Koreans
Nice review Guru ji... Now tell... How does it really compare with the Jimny ... One thing I can see is that with recent discounts.... Jimny seems like a better choice as you can spend 1-2 lacs and make it a more stable, comfortable and more capable true 4*4 than it is already.... What would you say ?
7:22 the power socket missing in the front is a big problem in my ScorpioN too. I have faced a situation where the front wheel on the driver's side got punctured and despite the long wire of the inflating machine it didn't reach the tyre. So now I carry two inflators, one automatic which I plug in and use on 3 tyres and one for 'that' unreachable tyre. 🥲
Hi! I am quite impressed by your work team Motoroids and being an automotive video producer, I would love to be a part of your such a dynamic team if provided an opportunity.
Bro Jimmy starting 4*4 is like 15 lakh, 4*2 is a poser vehicle and everyone who knows car will make fun of you. That 4*4 will cost more than 20 lakhs on road.
@@sa34w I just booked the jimny and wondering if i made a good choice. The Jimny just seems like a versatile car for my needs and fell in love with its small yet robust design.
@@amitkrupal1234 that's even worse , 4*2 is a posee vehicle and will be used by Chapris to ruin its image, lowest Varient is 15 lakhs so within no time Thar ROXX will be ridiculed like KTM is now. Jimny isn't as flashy but a very capable vehicle so it will be safe from their radar except for genuine motor enthusiasts. I believe Thar should have only launched 4*4 vehicle, now it will be the vehicle of choice for anyone who wants a Jeep knockoff
@@motoroids I thought you might say that. I suspect your views may be impacted by the physics of the payload and weight distribution when a large man like Guru tests a vehichle sat at one end of the car, he is probably 40% of the max payload capacity of the Jimny at one corner. In other words, it may be for Guru that ths Jimny is worse and the Thar Roxx is better, which is quite understandable. Also, I was talking to Nexa last week-they did confirm what the manual says, that upsizing the tyres, as Guru did in his Jimny, negatively impacts the dynamics and movement of the vehichle in many ways for very little benefit, and they get vehichle performance complaints afterwards. I have 4 reviewers as big as you or bigger so far that confirmed that the suspension is better on the Jimny. Too many people aren't looking at the actual measures and physics of the vehichle when reviewing and merely going be "it 'feels' XYZ", or "it 'looks' ABC", or "it needs 'more power' for what-have-you" without talking about the kgs, km/h, legal speed limits, legal or safe rate of accelaration for overtaking, GVM, weight distribution in KG per axle, or safety, and "what does the manual say about this?". These are machines, with engineering behind it, I am sure there are measurables. I saw one video where Guru ended up in a situation where the grass under his car caught fire and he thought the car was alight! This was exactly the scenario clearly warned about in the manual!! And I was told in the comments section by other viewers that no one reads the manual, the grass shouldn't have caught fire. That no one reads the manual is the problem!!! And don't get me started on modificaitons! So far, I have found only one Australian channel who actually gets his modified cars re-certified by the authorities with a fresh plate with new capacities riveted to the body, including the Jimny, in order to make it road legal. I haven't seen this in India and that's sad.
I like the vehicle for its practicality. The only things they need to change or offer options on are white interiors. And the sunroof could have been positioned just a little more forward. Else it is very spacious and will make a great go anywhere family grand tourer on highways. However, for our crowded cities and narrow rural and hill roads, a narrow footprint is more easy to live with. I sold my 3 door Thar because even though I had made practical modifications in it to accommodate luggage and all, it was still a pretty uncomfortable vehicle and a real fuel guzzler. The Jimny which I now own, I personally am much happier with. Saying all this, I would like to own this Thar Roxx because it is a much more practical vehicle. If ever I buy I will only buy the Diesel Top Spec AT. But I would like to keep my Jimny too because of its small footprint and narrowness and lightness.
@@gsrox2007 Dont want to fiddle with my Jimnys stock set up. I did all sorts of things to my Thar 3 door and ended up wasting a lot of money. AVO suspension, underbody protection and rock sliders and all sorts of accoutrements from which I really didnt derive enough benefit. Frankly got tired of the vehicle and sold it. However, the Jimny and its little naturally aspirated engine and its general lightness and cuteness gives me a lot of joy every day in its normal un - enhanced form itself. So I dont want to change anything at the moment.
What i understand from the video is the ride quality is not as good as a kia or a seltos but its better than thar 3 door. As per 91wheels Jimny has better ride quality than roxx & according to you roxx is better than Rubicon. Rubicon & Thar 3 door fighting for the second last position?
Wow that escalated fast 😂 I'll let Amit comment about his personal thoughts about the ride quality. For me the Roxx outclasses the Jimny on the road. There simply is no comparison and I don't know if 91wheels owns a Jimny but I do. The Thar Roxx handles the city and highway with aplomb. The Jimny is good on bad roads but on good roads at speed it really starts to unravel. Sway, rocking and side to side shimmy mars the Jimny's highway ride.

Hi Amit, as you and your team drove both 4*2 and 4*4 diesel automatic versions, is there any difference you feel in punch of both engines as they have separate set of tune i.e power and torque figures,150 vs 170 or 330nm vs 370nm, because on paper it seems a lot of difference, what is your real life experience?
4x4 was only provides on a beginner level off road test track. On the road we only had the 4x2 version. The way this media drive was structured, we only had 4-5 hours with the car to drive, evaluate, shoot, do the off road track and navigate the traffic choked Kochi roadways.
@@gsrox2007thankyou Guru ji, how was your experience, strangely in 45 mins vlog, none of you commented on engine and how it feels behind the wheel when it comes to outright acceleration and torque delivery abt RWD VERSION
The performance from the 4x2 variant is more than sufficient, it feels potent and keen across the rev range. We drove the 4x4 in a controlled environment so it's difficult to tell by how much do the two variants differ wrt performance. From experience, I can tell you though that the difference wouldn't be too significant from a day to day drive perspective. For an enthusiast, who wants to quantify the difference, maybe yes, but for all practical purposes, it wouldn't make any usable difference

Still looks quite similar to Rubicon, infact it would have looked more beautiful than Rubicon had it been as long as Rubicon minus the weird cut at the back and weird Front grill, which I feel can be easily changed by after market accessorie.
I've had the Jimny for over a year now. I've driven the Roxx for a few hours. It wouldn't be fair to get into a comparison without really getting to know the Roxx. At this point it is unlikely I will get my hands on a media car so you won't be seeing a video from me about this topic.
This was a very chaotic media drive. We were getting chased away from every location and spent most of the time stuck in traffic. We just went with the flow. Thanks for understanding!
Difficult to explain. You either get it or you don't. My dad thinks I am mad. Some of my friends own a Jimny but don't go off road. In the latter situation I judge them because why buy a Jimny or Thar for mall crawling? Far better cars out there. There's a certain freedom to exploring paths that aren't paved, navigating hostile terrain. It is the inner need to explore and conquer that finds an outlet in these off-road drives. Like I said, difficult to explain.
White interior is absolutely bad choice for an off-roader. Even if you are not dirty the white interior will look dirty in no time. Owners will have to buy seat covers and color the interior roof to brown or some other darkish color.
😂 I think at 7-10L L approximately less than the Roxx 4wd, the Jimny will still survive and find takers. There are a few things it is better at than the Roxx but I'll go into that in a separate video 💪🏾
What was the business case for thar 5 door ? A family vehicle with thar looks, handling, smooth ride , presence , capability and presence .. Your discussion is NOT on point to what mahindra put out but personal preference !! Remember mahindra needs to cater to every one , and cheapsters who want wrangler knock off can get the angri bird look still ..with the imitation grill!! Grill - looks great , why does it need ti be black not body color ..idea is blending in to disguise the side NOT to make it look raw and unpolished..
@@motoroidsthankyou for your kind clarity here, appreciate your efforts.
This was the only usefull review out thare. thankyou for that.
your editor mixed up the scorpio and scorpioN images in the conclusion.
Thanks for the support. I will let the editor know about this gaffe 😂
Lovely presentation...very informative banter. Paddle shifters? I've never touched them on my Jaguar XF...I don't think I will miss them.
Happy for you. I like using them every once a while
Love the review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review
Nice review ❤
Thank you kind sir ❤
Very nice review Guru👍
Thank you ❤
Hey Guru you look like brother of Sid Mewara from The Big Forker
Hahaha I just went and checked that show out 😂
nice review
Thank you kind sir 🙏🏽
You forgot the 2 grab handles for the second row behind the front seats 😅
So much chaos we forgot plenty of stuff. I wanted to find a car wash and lift the car to shoot underneath but the entire day was a mess and we were lucky to get whatever we did on this film.

Please inform if its petrol or diesel version you were enjoying,?😊
Diesel
@@motoroids thankyou
If the suspension on this one is so plush, while the other one rocks you. Shouldn't this be named just Thar and it's cousin Thar Roxx 🤔
😂😂😂 Good question sir!
Hahaha good one bro
I like guru 😊 He makes me laugh 😊
😂 I wish my wife agreed. I'm the "dad jokes" dude at home 😢
Tata Safari ❤ spacious value for money🎉
🎉FIRST VIEW HEADGEAR GARAGE HIMAYATNAGAR HYDERABAD TELANGANA 🎉
Whats the turning radius. It seems too poor like 6m?
5.3m approx. Jimny is 5.7m 😊
No cigarette lighter in the front? Do you get type c cigarette lighter?
Good question. Any smokers in da house?
@@gsrox2007✋🏻 but my lady screams & shouts 😅 so I get down once a while to pee and then finish the puffs…. but if anyone’s wife smokes too, then they don’t need cigarette lighter in the car too…. wife will light it up and both share…. Win-Win
@@gsrox2007 don't smoke but wondering how to use 12v air pump for front tyres. Rear one is bit far.
You got so much space in the boot. Put all your water bottles in the boot, take those bottles out from the boot whenever you need them. You cannot demand everything in one vehicle, which all the other vehicles aren't able to give u
Clearly you haven't driven long haul extensively. Staying hydrated without having to pull over each time is not a luxury.
4:58 I guess everyone agrees on that. if they had made it all hardtop and side profile Jimny-esque. 🤣🤣
That name reserved for military purpose Vehicle.
Makes sense now that you mention it but I still want to see a Thar Armada edition with added badassery! 💪🏾
Still looks quite similar to Rubicon, infact it would have looked more beautiful than Rubicon had it been as long as Rubicon minus the weird cut at the back and weird Front grill, which I feel can be easily changed by after market accessorie.
Yes as Tushar mentioned in his Zigwheels review, Karol Bagh will be ahead of the curve when it comes to accessories for the Roxx 😂
Drive in Mumbai to test off-road capability
I'm sure that is in the pipeline ❤
the cinematography , frame rates focus are crap man really distracting to watch
Yeah we didn't have a videographer along for this one. I hope our content makes up for the absence of Roger Deakins 😅
How do you compare this with Landrover for a highway+off road experience?
Which Land Rover?
@@motoroids Defender 110
1:17 😅 thoughtful.....
😂
Nothing can beat Taigun when it comes to driving dynamics and handling.
Seriously good car the Taigun
You never got into Thar Roxx vs Suzuki Jimny
I've had the Jimny for over a year now. I've driven the Roxx for a few hours. It wouldn't be fair to get into a comparison without really getting to know the Roxx. At this point it is unlikely I will get my hands on a media car so you won't be seeing a video from me about this topic.
We have a video up now. Check it out
Kerala 😍😍🥰
JIMNY STILL HAS ITS OWN ADVANTAGES. How ever as Lifestyle vehicle ROXX scores more points.
That would be accurate 👍🏽
Soft top is off no use.
Also the whole car should be in same body colour and please don't kindly promote sunroof
No 12V point at front ???
Yes it is a big omission!
Maybe 7 seater Thar will be called Armada
That would be so cool. I wish brands resurrected older legends and also brought back some retro styling. Tired of all cars looking similar these days!
3 mins in the very start was -ves. Sorry guys
This was a very chaotic media drive. We were getting chased away from every location and spent most of the time stuck in traffic. We just went with the flow. Thanks for understanding!
❤❤❤
You can do an 8 with a car not going wide is just crazy
still dont understand why you want to go off road? what's the fun other that spinning head and rolling stomach??🤔
This will not challenge creta market. This will be more eating into their own XUV series.
I think the Thar Roxx could tempt people away from Kimchi to Kichdi 😂
@@gsrox2007 More like Kimchi to ada chi
ROXX is far better than armada
I'm sure there will be fans on either side of the fence 💪🏾
White interior is absolutely bad choice for an off-roader. Even if you are not dirty the white interior will look dirty in no time. Owners will have to buy seat covers and color the interior roof to brown or some other darkish color.
True. It looks like they aren't too bothered by sales figures of the 4wd variants.
Jimny guru
Hehe 😂
Aab to bacchi kucchi ijjat bhi gayoo machis ki dibbiya ko ...gayo re jimny aab😂😅
😂 I think at 7-10L L approximately less than the Roxx 4wd, the Jimny will still survive and find takers. There are a few things it is better at than the Roxx but I'll go into that in a separate video 💪🏾
@@gsrox2007 gayoo ree gayoo...thaare jaise bahutee se bolan Waal lekin jaab baat lene k aat se tab sab peeche ho jaat se jimny ko dekh k re 😂😆
The ALLOY design is MISMATCH.
You think so? I quite liked the "machete" look.
4th comment❤❤❤❤
Cheers
Thar ka bonet upar dekhta he isliye accha lagta he
What was the business case for thar 5 door ? A family vehicle with thar looks, handling, smooth ride , presence , capability and presence .. Your discussion is NOT on point to what mahindra put out but personal preference !!
Remember mahindra needs to cater to every one , and cheapsters who want wrangler knock off can get the angri bird look still ..with the imitation grill!!
Grill - looks great , why does it need ti be black not body color ..idea is blending in to disguise the side NOT to make it look raw and unpolished..
Notch on the rear door - puts this apart
Head lights - I reckon it's brilliant which now will become distinct signature of mahindra..as far as round lights
Rear door handle - its eclectic and different..change always is...
SO CALLED CHEAP PRICE TAG SHOULD BE COMPARED WITH 3 DOOR RWD THAR AND NOT WITH THAR 4x4.
I don't think anyone called it cheap. At the same time you simply cannot compare the Roxx with the Thar 3-door. They are not in the same league.
Looks like a paid review. 100%.
😂 funny you should say that. I was just telling Amit on the day of the media drive that this is a lot of work for free!
Only you have a problem with Motoroids and constantly post nonsense, thinking you're demotivating them. You fool. 🤣
9:10 - Are you ready to pop the cherry? Come on guys, don't use obscene slang which you don't realize the meaning of. Using slangs that are inappropriate in a public setting doesn't make you look cool/hip. Avoid.
You seriously think we don't know? If this offends you then you really need to stay off the internet sir 👍🏽
