- "Love of the Loved" is a song written mainly by Paul McCartney, credited to Lennon-McCartney. It is one of his earliest compositions and featured in the Beatles live act in their early days. The group recorded the song at their 1962 audition for Decca Records, but never issued it on any of their official releases. Instead, Cilla Black recorded it for her debut single, which was produced by George Martin. It was not a big hit for her, reaching #35 on the UK Singles Chart.
The Beatles audition version was left off Anthology 1, even though the other Lennon-McCartney originals from the same session, "Hello Little Girl" and "Like Dreamers Do", were included.
Recordings of "Love of the Loved" as the Beatles may have performed it were released as singles by US band The Poppees (1975) and Dutch band RollerCoaster (1980). Other cover versions are available on the 1989 album by Bas Muys entitled Secret Songs: Lennon & McCartney and on the 1998 release It's Four You by the Australian tribute band The Beatnix. It has also been covered by Seattle-based Beatles cover band Apple Jam on their album Off The Beatle Track and on The Weeklings 2016 release "Studio 2", which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios along with 3 other unreleased Lennon/McCartney/Harrison compositions.
The original Decca audition version, along with 10 other tracks from the 1962 Decca session, is now available on the CD I Saw Her Standing There.
Here I´ve intended to show a possible rendition with the same gear they used to play in 1961/62.
- Rickenbacker 325 Capri (John)
- Hofner 500/1 61 bass (Paul)
- Gretsch 6128 Duojet (George)
That’s a pretty complex song; unusual chord changes, nice guitar licks, all written and arranged by kids.
I play guitar: their stuff was really advanced even @ this early stage. Their chord arrangements & middle eights were really unlike anything anybody else was doing. I’m still working on getting their style down! And it ain’t easy! ;
This channel is showing me songs I never had any idea the Beatles had done. Your channel is a goldmine for even lifelong Beatles fans
I have always loved the different voicings on George and John's 😎
Paul&Jhon!!❤
Por favor no dejes de hacer estos vídeos!! Son hermosos y ayudan muchísimo!!!
Please do Where Have You Been All My Life please!!!!!
True to the art...just great
Fantástica versión!!!!saludos desde mexico
I wonder if George wrote that lead guitar melody ? It’s pretty sophisticated, yeah?
Thank You
cilla💖
1943~2015😢😢
Thats so sad :c
Bass part looks easy and sweet, just play roots & 5th notes.
Consider that Paul was still sort of a beginner on the bass when this was recorded, he has just pick up the instrument less that a year before
I'm SOO jealous of your Hofner Cavern Model.
No need bad feelings friend (just kidding)! It took a long time to be possible get that gear to me. Patience!
Happy xmass..
Stu keep the flame going...

Hey Thanks!!!! It´s a long jorney to 150k..hahaha...an entire life jorney I suppose hahaha (in fact I don´t expect to reach such amount of subscriptions...)
Yeah I feel the same way - I wonder how long it will take me to reach 1000
I was his 1000 sub!
Thank you!!
Thanks for support my channel!
Could you do my bonnie?? my band wants to cover it at our prom
Can you upload My Bonnie? :')
Your channel is great!
Great video, man! Do you own a Solid 7? The guitar Paul used in the Hamburg days? And if you do, what is your opinion on it? It seems like a good guitar, and I'm thinking about getting one and turning it to a lefthanded like Paul did.
Yes...but wanna know? It´s like Paul´s said: "It´s a peace of wood" haha....terrible! But I think it´s magnific! One of my favorite guitars!
You should definitely cover My Bonnie next!
How’s the George Harrison duo jet? Is it worth buying it?
Really great guitar! Crispy sound, good action.

Thanks Jay!
Always liked this one.
I don't like the silly riff. Cilla/ George Martin dumped that and it remains my favourite Cilla track. A pity she didn't follow it up with more pop rather than go off doing all that MOR stuff.
This was the first hit for Cilla Black
Stu, you've done some great ones but there is One that you have to do.......
"Ruby Baby"
Wow! That´s great! Ther´s so many songs and the list is big...but surely I´ll do!
@@StuSutcliffe60 "Where habe you been all my life" goes first!
Sorry: "Where have you been all my life".
Looking Forward to seeing your take on Ruby Baby, been working on it myself and looking at old Dion videos, but you do an outstanding job of showing all the guitar parts so I want to see your version of it.....
Merry Christmas............
Add rain and freesias...my first boyfriend.
What’s with the thing at the beginning?
John played open C and B7 (?)
Rafael Ramos Yes
Sounds Great! Do you think George messed up the ending or was it supposed to sound like that? Also does it seem strange to you that Paul would go for such a simple one note bass intro? Is this maybe because this was an audition and he was avoiding taking any risks?
George messed up I suppose....hard to know....It´s a strange song in many ways...double intro solo (and it´s true if you can listen with attention), Paul´s poor bass line...I agree that It´s an audition and They didn´t know a little what to do with the song....but It could be that way.
Hey Stu. Would you be able to do later Beatles songs or do you only 61-62 Beatles song?
That's the purpose of my channel...there are lots of later songs chs out there don't you agree?
@@StuSutcliffe60 I'm a beginner what song would you recommend me to do
I'm not sure...what do you most enjoy: prior 62, Beatlemania, psychodelia....?
Jesus Reyes Twist and Shout. 3 basic chords and the solo is pretty easy
Does anyone have a tab for the intro
Can I request Little quinne?????
Sure!
Can I have a tab for this song?
Can't you pick it up by watching?
how would you rate the club 40 as a guitar in general but also playing early to late beatles, would it fit in the rhythm or lead category,or both?
It's a tiny fragile guitar...in fact it's famous only cause Lennon had one. I don't think It would survive through all those tours and sessions.
StuSutcliffe thanks because I’m looking to get a Beatles guitar and I don’t know if I should get a 350(cause 325 way to small) a ric 360/12 like Harrison’s or a country gentleman or a casino
CJ Gonzalez the 350 cant produce the Lennon sound so I recommend to get the 325 but the Gentlemen is a good guitar for Beatles licks or twangy country rockabilly esk type of stuff
Beatles4Life what about a casino
CJ Gonzalez those are good for George stuff. He bought one I believe in 65 or 66.
Stu Could you point to the source where you found solo George? For earlier thanks.
Toster123 It’s all by ear possibly
@@Elvis-Pelvis03 Ahah, unfortunately i'm not that professional yet.
Toster123 If you want, I can send you tabs for it For John’s and George’s part
@@Elvis-Pelvis03 If you are not difficult, then you can.
Toster123 I do tabs 😂 Just email me
will you please reply to my comment on "Hallelujah I love her so" i'm trying to figure out a chord you did and i can't, also great instrument cover!
....Answered...
Great cover but not gonna lie, that intro looked horrendous, really...
Tell this to Paul...he wrote the song...haha
@@StuSutcliffe60 I think he refers to the red and yellow thing in the beginning
Yeah that intro is ridiculous
StuSutcliffe yea no lol Im talking about the beginning of the video where it says “stusutcliffe.” It just looks really dated and drags on, thats all
Intersting what we have here...the channel is about music and he's worried about the intro. You know what? I'll tell ya...I think It's great! So is very simple not to see it: close your eyes buddy...
Without any special melody, a song like hundreds of the same others, of a usual beat ...
Who's the singer of this song? Maybe Tony Sheridan? Neither Paul, John, George nor Ringo could. Is this whole thing a fake? I think YES...but well done, anyway! 😑
It is Paul... stop it.
its the same voice of like dremaers do, its paul, he try to imitate Elvis voice its for that
@@therotiv4Maybe not Elvis but Roy Orbison, that dramatic kind of voice
Pretty bad song, made tolerable because we know what these guys would become later. One of Paul´s strange and weird bad songs with murky melodies going nowhere. I put "Hold me tight" (on "With the Beatles" LP), "Good Day Sunshine" ("Revolver") and "Hello-Goodbye" (MMT) in the same category.
well it looks like your opinion doesn't mean shit because you've accomplished nothing and he's the most brilliant artist ever created
@@USSRjpg What an idiotic commentary! To begin with, popular artists expose themselves to the opinions of the people. As far as I know, there´s no decree forcing people to love a turd of a song just because it was penned by one of these alleged "geniuses". To continue, this is the first time I ever learnt that an artist is "created". And, to finish, if what you meant by that senseless phrase was that Macca was the greatest artist ever, then either you´re eight, or you´re extremely boorish and uncultured. Where do you put Richard Wagner, then? Learn to read and write, then come again!
I like it, the vocals are good. Dunno what you mean about the melodies going nowhere either
This comment has jealous loser vibes all over it. 😂
@@catherinewilson3880 Does it? Precisely WHY, honey? Or is that another typically female "gut feeling"?
