Glad to see another Polestar (and not another Tesla video) from you Dave. I saw your rental experience video with the Polestar and it was less than complimentary. I've seen lots of your Tesla videos and test drove the 3 and Y but ended up going to this very same dealership in NYC from CT to get a Polestar 2 (fully loaded with all 3 PPP packages). It's not perfect as far as EV's go, and has pros/cons when compared to the Tesla, but it's comfortable, powerful, great on tech, incredible build quality, and most importantly... I don't feel like every other a'hole driving one of a million Teslas in Fairfield County that look exactly the same. I really like Teslas but at this point they're a bit boring and too common. Ultimately, we did end up getting the Polestar because of the Tesla supercharging network opening up. I already tried the Brewster NY Tesla station with the Polestar and it was nice! Comments on the Manhattan space... The showroom is clean and beautiful, no pressure tactics, every rep I interacted with seemed to be a "car guy" and extremely knowledgeable about Polestars, and EV's in general. Not to mention more responsive than anyone with any other car buying experience I've ever had. I was also in Westport and big props to Noah and the team at both locations. I was very impressed.
Polestar, basically, is like what AMG is to Mercedes. They were a racing outfit out of Sweden and got into tuning Volvos on race tracks or turning them into sleeper cars. Then they became the sports skunk works of Volvo. You can buy a Volvo s60 Polestar Engineered and get the same gold belts, brake calipers and Ohlins adjustable dampers on that car along with custom tuning, throttle mapping, etc. So, they're a part of Volvo for sure. When they were spun off the head designer of Volvo, Thomas Ingenlath, was chosen to be CEO and they took a subset of Volvo designers and engineers to a new location that wasn't far from Volvo's headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. They share with Volvo a lot of philosophy and personnel. There's more than platform sharing. There's sharing of sustainable materials, building the same crashworthiness into the vehicles while sharing data on both Volvo and Polestar crashes, paint colors, and just a whole lot. So even with the styling of the two becoming somewhat different, yet somewhat similar, they're still most connected with Volvo. But they are definitely sportier, more roadworthy cars to drive than most Volvos. The Polestar engineered Volvos get closer to the Polestar models but are on a limited amount of models.
Polestar has a great line up of vehicles & future vehicles. They also have great design. Can't wait to see the new Polestar 3 & 4 on the roads in 2024. Is the Polestar 1 in the showroom for sale? It will be a rare (hand made carbon fibre body - only 1500 made globally) collectors car going forward. They had a great display here in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
@@Anthony__420 very true! I did not need to be sold when I bought my Tesla. However he’s being informative and is knowledgeable where is with my sales experience it was not that at all lol. I don’t want to be sold but I wouldn’t mind being informed.
Wish Polestar had their own version of the EX-30, maybe one that included a driver infotainment screen behind the wheel or hud as well as a rear passenger arm rest with built in cup holders.
My theory is they made Polestar to be have a more “luxury” brand, so that Volvo could offer cheaper vehicles. I don’t see a polestar cheaper than the 2 in the future at all.
@@TechKingGame Volvo may start out with a less expensive entry model but Volvo is still a premium maker. Volvo is a bit more traditional, comfort/luxury, Scandinavian style and Polestar is performance/luxury, Scandinavian style. Polestar may top off higher but there's overlap in prices between the Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90 and for most models in the Polestar and Volvo lineups. I do agree that the Polestar 2 will remain the entry level for some time.

Yes, this car is built in a Chinese factory but please understand this is a Swedish engineered and spec-d vehicle. The tolerances are specified to the Chinese factory and there is no doubt in my mind after examining them and driving Polestars as well as Volvo's Chinese built S90 that there is no compromise in the construction or quality of Volvo or Polestar's cars built in China. The Polestar 2 is a really solidly built car.
Wow salesman was selling !!!! Most salesmen don’t even know what they are talking about !!! I want a polestar NOW!!! Great job!

Jonathan is very knowledgeable about his product. I’ll look at Polestar when they are made in USA and using batteries/motors made in N America.
