Great player. I hope he continue to shine throughout his career. I fear that he might face some injuries due to the style of hockey he plays. He hits like a truck, he is very physical, I hope he can avoid injuries.

its good to see a pitt fan realize ovechkins skill beyond the pitt wash rivalry, as i can realize malkins skill any day of the week. as for crosby. i just think he camps near the net and gets rebounds like wow. now you do have to have nice hands for that sometimes but in terms of overall skill ovechkin and malkin clearly have crosby beat.

even tho my name says ovechkin, my favorite player is kovalchuk, but i dunno man, ovechkin shoots 600 times and only gets 50 goals cause so many of those are from bad spots... hes a great sniper.... but i love kovalchuk, seen him 3 times live, and hes gotten a hatty infront of me in ottawa, then 2 goals the next game in ottawa, and 1 goal in tampa.. 6 goals in 3 games babY hahaha!!

The points are to track overall progress of ones season, but evidently the point system is over after regular season, and frankly i dont think any player gives a f*ck about how many points they have if they dont win any cups. I dont think ovy's goal in any season is to be point leader, hes clearly in it to win himself and the capital franchise a cup.
@gagnondp He doesn`t have a Cup, and thats what matters if your a hockey player. I don`t think he is more skilled then Crosby, or vice versa. They play different styles. Its like Wayne Gretzky vs Messier. One is smart and more of a playmaker, the other is a relentless goal scorer with a dirty side.

@tommymonsternz that's a really weak analysis. crosby is far more skilled than ovechkin and is a much smarter player. i'll admit that ovechkin has more physical talent, but that diminishes as a career goes on. also, crosby is more reliable in clutch situations while ovechkin sort of disappears during clutch time. most importantly, crosby makes his teammates better while ovechkin takes it to the goal himself which isn't always the smartest thing to do.
