- Oliver had surgery to remove a noncancerous keratin cyst from his tail and the noncancerous infarct cyst from his right front leg. He is doing great, and we want to thank our wonderful vet for the amazing job she did in handling the surgery. The recovery time for the tail will be at least a month, as we explain in this video, due to the lack of skin in that area. Thanks to all of you for your love and support as we navigate this difficult time with Oliver. We will keep you posted as his recovery progresses and will post an update on Monday. My Son introduced us to your channel a few years ago while we were going through our own journey with our beloved beagle. We had our amazing beagle for 16 years. Never dreamed of ever owning a beagle, but our lives were incredibly changed forever the day we brought her home. Her markings and personality are remarkably similar to Oliver. While I would never change any of our incredible journey, we too went through some challenging medical “sagas” starting at age seven including a baseball-sized tumor (survived 9 years longer), kidney issues (survived 8 years longer), 7 non-cancerous growths (similar to the ones on Oliver’s tail and paw), and eventually cancer on her lower jaw (which she survived for 4 healthy years after treatment). At the time, they are all frightening and traumatic for both you and the dog…but they are such amazing and resilient creatures. You obviously love and care for Oliver deeply, which comes through in all your videos. I hope that Oliver continues to live and long and happy life. Thank you for sharing your channel with us.

Aww sweet little buddy. I’m glad you got him an inflatable. ETA: you guys are such amazing beagle dads. I know that was all heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for everything Oliver and you all have been through. Take it one day at a time! You can do this, Oliver! It was reassuring to see him drinking like normal at the end.

Poor Oliver looked so sad lying there on the couch, but I think that eating lunch really perked him up. He was even jumping onto the side of the counter, looking for more food. I am glad that he is recovering well, and I do hope he gets to keep his beautiful tail. But even he if he has to lose his tail, you will still have him. I weep with you, I did when our vet told us our "Mikey" was diagnosed with CHF (congestive heart failure) which eventually took him. They are our babies we love them as members 1o1f our family! Nothing wrong with a man weeping! I do and I'm not ashamed!
Thank you, Joseph! I'm so sorry for your loss. Their lives are much too short. I think one reason this hit me so hard is that I know someday I will have to say goodbye to Oliver and I just can't bear the thought of losing any part of him, let alone all of him.

@@OlivertheBeagleAs a Bay Area dog mom myself, I felt that in my soul. We had to put down one of our 2 doggies in 2022, very suddenly, and it was heartbreaking. We hadn’t planned on adopting again right away, but within 3 weeks we had another wonderful rescue boy, our Terrier mix, and can’t imagine life without him now. Our older dog is a Beagle/Hound mix. ❤

Poor little Oliver. Lots of support to Oliver and Dads that his tail will be okay. Fortunately the lumps were benign. He's a little groggy after his surgery but seeing how he became energized after eating by leaping up to the counter for more food after having eaten is a good sign. Loved Oliver's wink at the end. Those Kong collars are so much more comfortable post op than the "cone of shame" usually issued. For our beagles, it's easier to get in and out thru the doggie door. Get well soon Oliver! Healing vibes coming from your beagle cousins Andy, Cooper, Daisy and Emerson.

Good boi, Oliver! Sadly, at 5 months old my gsd pup had to have his eye removed. I cried for 2 days. My pup was happy the whole time...probably even more after his bad eye was removed. So, even if Oliver loses part of his tail, he will be soooo happy to be with you and healthy ❤
That must have been so hard... but I am glad to hear that he made it through and was such a happy pup despite his ordeal!

Oliver looks fantastic! The fact he has such an appetite is a great sign in itself. Oliver is a lucky boy to have you guys as his parents. I agree with you that even if he lost part of his tail, it would never be as traumatic as losing Oliver. My beagle, Allie, passed away suddenly a couple years ago at only six years old, due to a seizure. It was beyond devastating. She was part of our family, just as Oliver is part of yours. It is such a relief to know the results of his tests came back negative. Having such vigilant parents, it is obvious Oliver is in good hands with his recovery. I wish you all many years of good health and happiness ❤

Hi guys. I have had two beagles, Sugar & Casey. Casey had the same problems as Oliver is having. She also had one cyst on her toe. When I first saw Oliver’s spot I recognized it. The ones on Casey’s foot & leg healed beautifully. The one on her tail healed also but hair did not grow back. Being a beagle, she learned to eat & drink with her satellite dish on (cone). The neighborhood kids called her the satellite dog. My King Charles spaniel, Lexie, had to wear a collar. I found one that fit her perfectly. It was bigger than the one Oliver has on. She could sleep & eat with it on. The strap was tighter than Oliver’s. I got it either at petsmart or pet supermarket. Sorry for the long comment but I surely understand what y’all are going through. Since my husband died of Covid in 2020 I have not had another dog. I still cry about my puppies that passed over Rainbow Bridge. Love & prayers to the three of you. ❤❤

@@OlivertheBeagle I was in pain for the first month but it was solved with pain medicine and now I’m mostly feeling like myself again and I’m back in school

We have a beagle that will be 15 in October and has several growths on her body. Some dogs seem to be prone to growths as they age. Many are benign and can get quite large. Our vet checks them often. They can sometimes be cancerous. I pray Oliver's tail will heal and be wagging for many happy years to come! Blessings to all of you!♥
Our beagle is around that age too, she doesn't really have any growths, but she has a neurological issue that is preventing her from being able to use her hind legs. We are trying to get a wheelchair for her to be able to walk without injuring herself.

Oh Oliver. Praying for you and your healing. I know what you mean about crying about things. I cry when anything bad happens to my Beagle Buck. Unfortunately my Beagle gas seizures once in awhile and it kills me to have to watch him go through it, but I stay with him to make sure he dosnt hurt himself. He did tear a small tendion in his back leg from having one. But thankfully it healed itself. Though I know it still bugs him. But the vet has him on seizure meds thankfully. He still has them just not as many. It's always heartbreaking when they have to go through something.
It is so hard! Especially because they can't tell us where they are feeling pain, and we can't explain to them why they have to go to the vet and how the medicine is going to heal them. But somehow, by listening carefully to each other and watching each other, we can still find ways to communicate and make it through these difficult times. Wishing the very best to your Buck--you are taking amazing care of him.
Thanks for confirming it's not cancer, a lot of us would have worried about that. Hope Oliver is better soon.

Poor little Oliver. He looks fed up with the whole ordeal and just wants his lunch. I know that he’ll pull through just fine. Thank God for the work the vets do and that they are there to care for our pets when we can’t.
