Also, right after this final, he was appointed as Mexico’s interim coach because Mexico were also doing horribly trying to qualify for the World Cup in 2014. His base for Mexico’s starting 11 were mostly America players and he managed to get Mexico through to the World Cup. He was then named coach for Mexico and got sacked in 2015 because of an alteration with a journalist. So yea, he’s a very passionate man and quite known for his bursts of rage.

What makes this final so legendary is the fact that Club America was down by 2 goals basically the whole game and also had only 10 players. And everything seemed done for them untill literally the last 5 minutes where they scored 2 goals with the goalkeeper being the heroe.

The team was loaded with talent but lacked chemistry. El Piojo brought the best out of the whole team. The first leg América lost 1-0, started the second leg with one man down, against a very strong Cruz Azul squad, two goals near the end of regulation, the passion boiled over and it reflected on El Piojo's face, the emotion of a dream becoming reality, turning him into a super saiyan for a moment, and making it past the OT with an exhausted 10 man squad, into PK's, on a rainy night with the stadium packed so tight it could burst, and culminating with Layun making the shot for the win, knowing that Layun was so heavily critized, whom he took under his wing and gave him the confidence to succeed, etching them into the history books with one of the most exciting and emotional Finales that we could remember, knowing that he even wet himself with excitement but was masked by the rain, as we all jumped and screamed with the team, with a knot in our throats, just as tired as the warriors that fought that night and won our hearts, thanking El Piojo for raising up this team to greatness once more...maybe this explains the manager's reactions 😅
